  1. I'm not sure if this is a nationwide brand, but I just received confirmation back from Sugardale Meats. Following is the text of the e-mail: "The Sugardale Hams, Bacon (including the pre-cooked Bacon), Wieners, Bologna, Cooked Salami, and Dry Sausage items (Pepperoni, Hard Salami and Genoa Salami) are all gluten free. The Dutch Loaf items contain either...
  2. I agree with Jillian - the Namaste Chocolate Cake mix is unbelievably delicious! The batter is pretty runny and it took longer to bake than the package said, but it turned out soooooooooooo good. My whole family ate it - and they won't typically eat gluten-free substitutes. It has the texture of a brownie - and it was not gritty AT ALL! My sweetie made...
  3. I am a HUGE Namaste fan. I am eating pancakes made from their mix right now - they are delicious! My sweetie makes the best pancakes and when I had to go gluten-free I really missed them. When I found the Namaste mix he made them for me using his special add-ins (a little extra sugar and vanilla I think) and they were even better than the gluten containing...
  4. I need to share my experience. I was prescribed an antibiotic for acne by the same dermatologist that diagnosed my DH (which prompted my family doctor to send me to the GI for celiac disease diagnosis). When I went to the pharmacy to have my prescription filled, I asked the pharmacist if there was any gluten in this medication. I was newly diagnosed and...
  5. m, I've been having a skin reaction to dapsone as well (rash all over - it itches in some places, and doesn't in others). I've also had attacks of hives sporadically. I just went to my derm. this past week and we think it is due to my sulfa allergy (duh). Although he said that people who are allergic to sulfa can typically tolerate dapsone. Anyway,...
  6. The website glutenfreedrugs.com lists claritin as gluten free - but I am not sure how frequently this list is updated. I have a box of claritin-d in front of me and i don't see anything suspicious listed. I have been taking benadryl for the past several nights to try and stop my itching.....problem is it knocks me out and I have a hard time getting...
  7. I did, as I bought some tonight to have for dinner because I thought they were OK. I checked the ingredients when I was in the store and everything looked fine. Some of the other Ore-Ida products contained wheat and explicitly stated so. I also bought the waffle fries because I thought the ingredients looked safe as well. The waffle fries have 'modified...
  8. This is from their website (benadrylusa.com) - although you are in Canada and I don't know if it is different..... Q. Do any of the Benadryl® products contain gluten? A. We do not specifically test for the presence of gluten in our products. Therefore, we cannot certify them to be gluten free. While we can tell you that there are no gluten-containing ...
  9. I wonder why their website doesn't have the tater tots listed as gluten-free?
  10. NO USA
  11. I just got my copy today. Haven't read it all yet, but what I have read so far, I think this is a great book. Definitely a must-have for newly diagnosed celiacs and their families.
  12. I just had to share this with everyone.....I forwarded the link to this story to my fiance. He just sent me a note saying what an idiotic comment the director of marketing made! I asked why, specifically, and he said her comment about if you have not had any reaction to their fries, you can continue to eat them. See - there is hope out there that people...
  13. Everyone is different and this disease effects everyone differently. Maybe dairy is your issue? Also, all things labeled 'natural flavors' or 'natural flavorings' are not off-limits. Only those that contain wheat, rye, barley or oats are off-limits. Some companies disclose if 'natural flavoring' consists of anything containing gluten. Some companies...
  14. David, Thank you sooooooooooo much! This is great!
  15. I finally got around to calling them. The person that I talked to had the list right in front of them as she had just got off the phone with another celiac! Here is what she told me:' Gluten Free Mix - Saffron Yellow (but NOT THE SPICY SAFFRON!) This was the only one that I really wanted to know about. I used to eat it all the time before going...
  16. I also have herniated discs - mine are in my neck. I have had issues off-and-on for at least 15 years with a stiff neck and/or excrutiating pain in my neck and shoulder. Up until a couple of years ago I just lived with it. I finally couldn't take it any more and asked my doc what we could do because I was fed up with medicating it when it flared up (which...
  17. Thank you so much for taking this seriously.

    ARCHIVED Dh

I wish...... I have never heard of anyone who had DH say that it doesn't itch. Most people say it is the most excrutiating itch you can imagine. Of course with this disease, I suppose anything is possible.
  19. I hear that a major fast food company has one that actually removes the gluten from food. Sorry.....................I couldn't resist. I am such a smart @*&!
  20. For the record, the reason that I posted the comment about McDonald's website stating that their bacon contained wheat, is because someone posted a comment about the Chicken-Bacon salad being their favorite. As for doing my homework, I do. I read every label, call every mfr if there is something that I am not sure of, and I do not rely on the delphi lists...
  21. Hi Kim. I am not in NY, but I work for a company that has a manufacturing plant in Waterford and know some people there. The more I am on this message board the more I realize what a small world this is!
  22. Hi Joe. Glad you are starting to feel better. There is a prescription - Dapsone - that has definitely helped me, as well as many others. However, there are side-effects and you need to have your bloodwork monitored while you are taking it. I have been taking it since October and my breakouts started clearing up after just a couple of days. This, in conjunction...
  23. Maybe they don't want to put it in writing? Who knows - I'm glad you got an answer.
  24. Karen, I hate to burst your bubble, but I just checked fox.com and the House episode says: "the team tries to diagnose a working mother who suffers from flailing fits" I know that I have had those before, but I don't think that is a symptom of celiac disease, is it? Unless you count the flailing fits I have thrown today over those freaking...
  25. The small town that I drive through on my way to and from work has a McDonalds, Wendy's, and Subway. Guess I only have one option now, huh? That's ok - Wendy's has been my #1 choice when I do go for fast food now (very infrequent). However, when I was first diagnosed, I was used to eating fast food quite a bit, so I found Wendy's gluten-free menu and ate...
