  1. In the past I regularly bought the Great Value brand Au Gratin and Scalloped potatoes and I never once felt glutened by them. I'm relatively sensitive, so I've always put them on my gluten safe list since I've never had a reaction to them. GV brand items have been a staple in my diet since my second year into the diagnosis and so far so good. Perhaps you...
  2. Perhaps triumph dining cards would help in this case? I believe they have ones that are written in Spanish. I'm pretty sure they emphasize the importance of avoiding CC, though I have to admit I've never actually read mine. It may be something to look into though if the cooks only speak spanish. Also, just a thought, maybe a waitress or busboy there knows...
  3. Could it have possibly been from CC rather than the actual ingredients containing gluten? I think that's generally the source of restaurant glutenings. Perhaps the cook had just handled bread or flour tortillas before making your meal. I hope you're feeling better soon.
  4. Today my daughter was begging me for pizza, but I didn't have any pizza pans clean. I didn't have any tortillas to make a quick pizza either. Anyway, I just stocked up on Blue Diamond Almond Nut Thins (her favorite cracker) and I thought I'd try making it on those. I spread them out on a cookie sheet and sprinkled some mozzerella over them, then topped each...
  5. Cotton candy shouldn't be a concern. However, you should make sure that the person/people making it are wearing gloves and not handling soft pretzels, etc. with the same gloves.
  6. I'm assuming Quest would have to go through my doctor, right? I think maybe I'll just go ahead and go through Enterolab. I forgot that they tested for other intolerances. I seem to be able to get away with eating anything with dairy, even cheese, but as soon as I take a few sips of milk I get the same old Celiac type cramping and soft stools. I am SO hoping...
  7. It's absolutely possible. You could be glutening yourself just by being around your horses. If they're feeding on wheat, then rolling around and kicking up dust, it could get into your stomach through your nasal passages. Wearing a mask would solve this problem. Also, if you're not washing your hands (and probably changing your clothes too if you're around...
  8. Definitely sounds like it could be Celiac. You may also see other symptoms that you didn't even link to Celiac disappear after he goes gluten free. I couldn't believe how "sick" I actually had been once symptoms began to disappear on the diet. Even if the bloodwork comes back normal or biopsies come back normal, you may want to give the gluten free diet...
  9. It depends on the brand of ibuprofin. Many medications are not gluten free. Excedrin tablets are gluten free. That's all I know about off hand. I believe Tylenol's website has a list of their gluten free medications. Oh yeah, Tylenol original caplets are gluten free. I think headaches are a common detox symptom. I got terrible headaches and migraines...
  10. Lately I'm suspecting that I have some sort of a lactose or casein intolerance. Its really hard to tell because I'm 8 months pregnant. I could just be having irregular, painful contractions I suppose. It feels to me though like Celiac pains. I know I'm not getting glutened, so I'm looking elsewhere. Is there any other way to test for a true casein intolerance...
  11. Some spices DO contain gluten. Is it possible that this is where your husband is getting glutened? McCormick brand spices will clearly label gluten if they contain any. Also, are you using new pots, pans, cutting boards, utensils, etc.? Some people find that they need to replace some of those things to stop getting glutened. Are you using a toaster that was...
  12. I really depends on the level of the hormone hCG that your body is producing. This is what pregnancy tests actually measure. With my first pregnancy I had ept's come up positive just 6 days after our first try. With this second pregnancy I didn't get a positive result until almost two weeks after the first day of my missed period. So, it can really vary both...
  13. There's an awesome gluten free cake recipe on allrecipes.com. Just do a search for gluten free yellow cake. It's by far the best gluten free cake I've tried yet. Have you considered asking them to make it from a mix though? There will be less chance of CC and improper ingredient choices from a mix. I don't have any to recommend though.
  14. Absolutely, it makes sense. Your body has had time to recover from the damage gluten has done. Then, when it's reintroduced your body goes into overdrive trying to fight it off. Thus, causing exagerated symptoms. Ugh...
  15. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to design a T-shirt for the little ones. Not for profit, of course. I can design it and then pass the file along so that you can order one on cafe press. I just need to know what everyone would like on the shirt. Let me know if anyone's interested. Text only please.
  16. I've found that I need a lot less sleep now that I'm gluten free. I used to sleep through the night every night. Now I don't, I wake several times a night, but I generally wake feeling well rested even if I only get 6 hours of sleep. I am 3 years into the gluten free diet and I've adjusted to this over time. It felt unnatural at first, but now it doesn't...
  17. I always put a sticker on my daughter's back that says: NO GLUTEN No wheat No barley No rye No oats No malt No Play-Doh
  18. Amanda, I'm so jealous that you live so much closer to Wegman's than me. I told Don that we'd have to drive out there soon before the baby comes. I showed him the huge gluten-free list that they have online and he was sold. Soooo.... Looks like I'll FINALLY get to see what a Wegman's is like.
  19. I've tried two flavors and I didn't like either. They were really grainy and they tasted way too much like dates.
  20. I contacted Hard Rock Cafe in Universal and they pretty much told me not to eat there. They weren't even very friendly about it.
  21. Colorations at www.discountschoolsupply.com is the gluten free play doh. I haven't tried it yet. I did try to make my own, but it was a horrible flop. I ended up having to throw it out. Good luck with yours. If yours turns out well, please pass on the recipe. My daughter is 3 and to date has never played with Play Doh.
  22. Regular floam is likely gluten free too, but the company won't confirm or deny its gluten status. Soooo... Apparently these guys will. Gluten free is right in the catalog's description. I would just prefer to support the company that knows what gluten is and will confirm their products' gluten status. That's all.
  23. Open Original Shared Link Have fun everyone!

  25. I use Kinnikinnick. I like that their facility is gluten free. Plus, if you order online from them there are plenty of other items on their site that are delicious (bagels, donuts, bread, cookies, etc.). Their shipping is $10 flat rate no matter how much you buy.
