  1. Happy birthday!!!!!!!!
  2. Tori LOVES school! She threw an absolute fit when we came to pick her up the first day because she didn't want to come home. She said she had so much fun. She had gluten for the first time on Thursday at school. So far so good. It makes me insanely nervous though. I can't wait until we can test. We're doing the gene test on her too. Annika is doing...
  3. I believe it's a mixture of dijon mustard, mayo, and honey. I'm not sure on amounts as I always just add until it looks/tastes right. It's really easy to make though and very tasty.
  4. I ditto the suggestion to use the recipe from Incredible Edible Gluten Free Food for Kids. Almost ALL the recipes in that book are amazing! Plus, they're kid friendly which is a big bonus if you're cooking for kids or picky eaters.
  5. There actually is a company that makes gluten free gift baskets. They're really expensive though. I can't remember who it is. I'm sure a google search would bring something up.
  6. Okay, so I've been diagnosed for over 3 years now and I'm really conscious now about food, allergies, and how they affect people. Recently a business "friend" of ours had a really nasty accident, he fell 30 ft. and shattered feet and ankles. He's currently home awaiting swelling to go down so he can undergo surgery. He's a really nice guy and recently did...
  7. I just wanted to pop in and give a quick update. The nurse came out to our house today for the home visit and Annika is 7 lbs. 9.5 oz. She's doing very well. At the hospital she was slightly jaundiced and the nurse thought that her color looked great now. She's still sleeping most of the time, but when she wakes up she's very alert and LOVES her big sister...
  8. Tori's having a rough time adjusting. She really wants to be by Annika's side constantly, even when she's sleeping and she throws a lovely tantrum when she can't be. She even climbed into the crib today to try to stay close to her. She's also very quick to throw a tantrum over little things. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for her. She's very tired...
  9. Hi everyone! Thanks so much. I just got home a few hours ago. Annika and I are both doing very well. The c-section went exceptionally well and I have been virtually pain free for the most part. I know, amazing, right? I think it has something to do with hormones released when nursing or something. Anyway, I'm glad to be home finally. I will try to get some...
  10. This is Don, Angie's husband. Angie and Annika are doing well. She did have a c-section, the O.R. had a cancellation so they called us in early. She was having contractions most of the night, but nothing productive, so they went ahead with the c-section. Angie is in very good spirits and was actually out of bed standing this evening. She is very happy to...
  11. Ok guys, this will likely be my last update until we're home from the hospital Sunday or Monday. Everything went well at the NST today, but they still are pushing for a c-section. I'm okay with that at this point. I have a c-section scheduled for 2pm tomorrow afternoon. I'm very excited. I'm very ready to get this whole thing over with. They're going to continue...
  12. Yes, it would be wonderful. I'm really hoping they decide to just do it tonight since I haven't eaten since 10am. That would be such a relief! I really, really, really want to get it over with.
  13. My blood pressure has been fine. I'm assuming it is still. I think they're worried because I have so much numbness in my foot as well as being swollen and overdue with unresponsive headaches. I think they're more concerned about my well being than the baby's at this point. There's no real reason to believe that the baby is in any danger at this point. Though...
  14. I'm hanging in there. I spoke to the nurse today and she told me to be prepared for them to not allow me to go past tomorrow. I'm fine with that. I don't think I've ever been this miserable before in my entire life, not even with Celiac. I keep trying to pretend that I'm okay, but really I'm just ready to have this baby and start feeling better. I can barely...
  15. Thanks everyone. Sometimes I really just need to hear words of encouragement. I did end up calling the doctor today because I can't get the swelling down in my one foot and now its numb. Its been three days now and its not getting any better. Anyway, I left a message for them so hopefully I'll hear back from a nurse soon.
  16. Just a quick thought.... Is your household gluten free? If not, that could be the culprit. Are your utensils and other bakeware, etc. gluten free that you're using to make this cereal? It could easily be another intolerance popping up as well. Its not uncommon for celiacs to have secondary intolerances. It may also just be too much fiber in the morning...
  17. Kimberly, you don't owe her a thing. Just giving birth to you does NOT make her a mother. If you feel that its best to not mention it to her when you get pregnant, that's your decision and yours alone to make. Please don't let her (or your twin) pressure you into doing something you're not comfortable with. Please also think this through thoroughly before...
  18. Just a quick update... Aside from getting stung by a wasp and getting heat rash, I feel great today. It was such a beautiful day out around here. I'm so glad I was able to enjoy it with the family. Actually, the whole weekend was gorgeous. The swelling in my feet and legs is getting worse and worse. I'm starting to get a little puffy in my face...
  19. Austin was 7 lbs. and still in preemie clothes. He was about the size of a newborn, but he definitely looked like a preemie. It was nice getting to hold a tiny baby again. I can't wait until its my own.
  20. Last night I got to hold a 2 month old preemie. He was about the size of a small newborn. It made me really anxious to have the baby. He was so tiny and cute and light and cuddly. His mom had an emergency c-section at 33.5 weeks. Her due date was only two weeks before mine. Now I really can't wait to see little Annika!!!
  21. Stef, he is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Stef, how are things going now that you're settled in at home? How's little Lukas doing? Any pictures yet? We're all dying to see the little guy.
  23. Thanks, Michelle. I'm actually glad they're doing the non-stress test. It will put my mind at ease knowing the baby is still okay in there. I will feel better after the non-stress test. Also, if there is a problem, at least we will know and be able to make an intelligent decision on what to do. Now, I'm actually hoping that the baby (and me) can hold...
  24. Congratulations Stef!!! I'm so excited for you! Now if only little Annika would come quickly and safely...
  25. For those of you not following the other baby thread... I had my appointment yesterday. Nothing has changed or progressed. They scheduled me for a non stress test to determine how much longer they want to let things go. My test is next Wednesday, 5 days after my due date. All of the doctors in the practice have been very supportive about the whole vbac thing...
