ARCHIVED Breastfeeding And Alcohol
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Janet, that is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I wasn't having any luck finding it through google though. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thanks to everyone else too who replied. -
ARCHIVED Breastfeeding And Alcohol
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks guys. I definitely don't want to be the designated driver. I'm willing to pump and dump for as long as I have to to make it 100% safe for the baby. Anyone have any clue how long if I have 3 drinks? What about 4? What about 5? I'm approximately 140 lbs, 5'3" and we'll probably only be at the bar for 3 hours so I'm assuming it will be spread out over... -
ARCHIVED Iso Kid Friendly Hair Products
Guhlia posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My 3-1/2 year old has just discovered braids and is completely obsessed. I try to put her hair in braids, but she has so many flyaways that it looks awful by the end of the day and she gets upset because it doesn't even look like a braid anymore. Does anyone know of any kid safe gluten free hair products that I could try? I'd especially be interested in ones... -
Ok, I got invited to go on a girl's night out and I'd really like to have a few drinks or so. Does anyone know how long I need to pump and dump to avoid getting alcohol in my baby's system? I know I should just call my lactation consultant and ask, but I feel kind of embarrassed about wanting to go out drinking when I have a two month old. I feel comfortable...

ARCHIVED "oreos"
Guhlia replied to LisaJ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
IMHO the K-toos are much, much better than the Midel ones. However, if you happen to be lucky enough to get a super fresh pack of Midel ones they're not bad. I've only ever had one bag though that wasn't hard as a brick. My DH likes the mint ones, but only because Kinnikinnick doesn't make one with mint cream. -
ARCHIVED Attention Holiday Shoppers!
Guhlia replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If I ever have healthy children again we can go to CIP and I'll bring them for you. Tori's been sick for weeks and weeks though. I think her immune system is really down from the gluten challenge. I know she just started preschool and all, but this is ridiculous. My mom taught preschool and I don't ever remember her kids getting sick like this. -
I agree with Pauliina. Going gluten free at first is hard enough without dieting. Give it a few weeks and then get back on your diet. Can you have yogurt? If so, yogurt and fresh fruit would make a great breakfast. Bakery on Main has gluten free granolas. They're excellent! Eggs and oscar meyer bacon are gluten free. A chicken and veggie omelet with salsa...

ARCHIVED Attention Holiday Shoppers!
Guhlia replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Wow, that really sucks Amanda. Its a good thing they gave you your money back. And... On the topic of Borat... You're not missing much. If you want to borrow it, you can. We watched it once and really didn't find it funny at all. We much prefer Sascha on Da Ali G Show. He's much funnier on that. We have season 1 of that on DVD too if you want to borrow it... -
ARCHIVED Sanitary Napkins/pads
Guhlia replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't have DH, but I always get horribly irritated by pads too. The only ones that don't rub me raw are Stayfree. All other brands that I've tried give me a horrible rash, almost like diaper rash, even if I'm not bleeding. Pantiliners are the same way for me except for Stayfree. Perhaps they don't use wheat for absorbency? -
ARCHIVED Sanitary Napkins/pads
Guhlia replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
From a sanitary standpoint she should definitely be washing her hands after putting a pad on. However, we all know how kids are, even the cleanest kids. I stick to tampons because of this issue. The only pads I've ever heard of not being gluten free are one of the Always pads. When I had my baby I used Stayfree and didn't have any gluten issues. I was really... -
Ewwww.... I was born and raised in PA and never once have I tried cottage cheese w/ apple butter. I vaguely recall someone eating it that way, maybe in college or something. lol I guess maybe I'm just a weird pennsylvanian.

She's never been tested. We suspected Celiac a long time ago, but the real reason we took her off gluten is because she's a messy little kid and I couldn't keep her from glutening me constantlyl. It just wasn't worth me being sick all the time.

Yes, apple butter is very dark brown and super sweet. Its actually very tasty on toast. It has the consistency of stage 2 baby food fruits.

Though I think it looks very nice, I'm finding it insanely hard to read anything. It just seems too busy to me and my ADD kicks in overdrive while I'm trying to read. Ugh...
-
This is absolutely amazing guys! I used Kinnikinnick's graham cracker crumb mix and followed the recipe on the bag for the crust. The recipe is modified to be gluten free from the "Apple Butter Pie" recipe on allrecipes.com. You may want to reduce the sugar a tad if you don't like your pies super sweet. INGREDIENTS * 1/2 cup apple butter ...

ARCHIVED Microscopic Colitis--what Do You Know About It?
Guhlia replied to woolwhippet's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You know, I was planning on asking about colitis today too. Huh... That's funny. I'd also like to know more about colitis. Also, does anyone know if there's a link between colitis and celiac disease? If so, does anyone know if any articles from reputable sources that I could read? -
ARCHIVED When Do You Introduce Gluten To Baby?
Guhlia replied to Offthegrid's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What about those of us that have strict gluten free households? How would you go about introducing it then? -
ARCHIVED Can't Find Dora Stars Or Little Einsteins Anywhere!
Guhlia replied to buffettbride's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found mine at Walmart. I've also seen them at Giant and my local mom and pop store. -
I've been giving her gummy vites since they're gluten free and that's what I take. They're a kids multi.
-
We took her off gluten not necessarily because of her, but more because she was glutening me everytime she ate it. I was entirely too sensitive to not get contaminated by all the gluteny impromptu kisses. And at two years old she just wasn't getting it through her head that there were times she couldn't kiss mommy. Anyway, now she's in preschool and eating...

My daughter is finishing the second month of her gltuen challenge. She has white poop which is typically very soft or even diarrhea. I'm assuming that she's suffering from malabsorption. With that assumption, liquid vitamins are generally easier to absorb, correct? If that's true, do you think it would be a good idea to supplement her milk with breastmilk...

ARCHIVED Do You Miss Goldfish Crackers?
Guhlia posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I finally found something that satisfies my daughter's goldfish cracker cravings! Glutino pizza flavored breadsticks taste and feel almost exactly like the pizza goldfish crackers. I hope everyone enjoys these as much as we do. -
ARCHIVED Pumpkin Pie Help!
Guhlia replied to blondebombshell's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use this recipe for pumpkin pie: Open Original Shared Link I don't use Eagle Brand though because I don't know if its gluten free. I use Walmart's generic brand, Great Value. They turn out fabulous. It is by far the best pumpkin pie recipe I've tried. I've done it crustless in cupcake foils and I've also made it with a delicious graham cracker crust. I... -
ARCHIVED How To Chop Onions Without Crying, Burning Eyes?
Guhlia replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Wash the onion in cold water. Then, turn on burners on your gas stove (or light a candle) and cut it next to that. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. -
I use Burt's Bees hand salve on my dry hands, feet, and other small dry patches. It works like a charm and gives me complete relief with only one heavy application a day.
