  1. My doctor doesn't do any blood draws in office, so I would have to go to the lab to get it done. If the sore throat persists I will definitely call and see what they think. I find it odd that with THAT sore of a throat they couldn't see anything. He said it was barely even inflamed. Weird, huh? I haven't picked up my prescription yet as I'm not sure I want...
  2. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Raven, yes we have forced air heat, but its not that kind of sore throat. Its the oddest sore throat I've ever had, never felt anything like it before. Its horribly painful (when it hurts), enough that I just want to cry. Kbytoyssni, I have been very fatigued lately and, when given the chance, can sleep for...
  3. OMG, Amanda, you just totally made my morning! I was SO freaked out last night by this. I'm glad to hear that this may just be something that's going around. whew...
  4. For the past month I've had a sore throat off and on. I'm not sick or anything, though I have been sick in the past month. It hurts so bad that I can barely swallow at times, tonight it had me almost in tears. I took a Tylenol and now the pain has subsided to a very bearable level. It makes no sense to me. I went to the doctor this evening and they are totally...
  5. When you were asking for bread I figured you wanted crusty french bread style, not sandwich bread so I wanted to add that for sandwich bread we REALLY like Kinnikinnick's cheese tapioca bread. We put it in the toaster on a low setting to thaw it. This keeps it from getting mushy like it would in the microwave. Its very good if eaten right away and decent...
  6. Amanda, was the mix old? I've never had a problem with any of GFP's stuff. I would call them and let them know what happened. Maybe they'll refund your money or send you a new bag.
  7. I was sick for 26 years before diagnosis. The doctors only took me seriously when I started having chronic diarrhea and losing weight like crazy (I was tiny to begin with). Unfortunately, this is a very typical dx story for a Celiac as is yours. It really will get easier over time. The more strict you are with the diet, the easier it will get. Gluten can...
  8. Red Bull does wonders for that "hit by a bus" feeling. It also seems to help with brain fog and even minor body aches. I think its because it has such a high does of caffeine along with vitamins. Anyway, that seems to be the only thing that really helps me make it through the day after being glutened.
  9. I eat their clam chowder on occasion with no problem. Your clam chowder reads just like mine.
  10. Your doctor should be able to give you a barrier cream safe for oral use to coat them until thry heal. Mine gave me this steroid cream and it healed them within 3 days and coated them so I stopped biting them because they were on my cheeks.
  11. Absolutely! I couldn't tell if it was physiolocigal or psychological. Either way, my tastes definitely changed A LOT after going gluten free. Strange, huh? Perhaps it has something to do with our bodies no longer rejecting foods.
  12. If you love beer, try Red Bridge beer! It's made by Anhueser-Busch so it should be readily available in your grocery store/beer distributor. Its made from sorghum and gluten free. Its actually a relatively good beer and the price is the best of all gluten free beers. If you don't like that I recommend trying Bard's Tale beer. Its absolutely amazing, but its...
  13. IMHO the best premade bread is Kinnikinnick's cheese tapioca bread. It has to be toasted lightly though to taste good. You can get it shipped to you from www.kinnikinnick.com. Their donuts and bagels are also amazing, so stock up. You may also want to try the Gluten Free Pantry's favorite sandwich bread. Its really good and its super easy to make.
  14. I believe that shop by diet is no more. Sad though, that was my favorite online shop.
  15. I'm sure you already covered all of this, but I figured I'd mention it just to be safe. Have you checked all of your personal care products (lotions, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, makeup, hairspray, etc.) for gluten? Are you using a toaster that's been used for gluten? Are you using any pots, pans, colanders, cutting boards, utensils, etc. that were used for...
  16. Here's a thread I started last Christmas. It has a bunch of cookie recipes and they are all delicious. All purpose flour = 3 parts white rice + 2 parts potato starch + 1 part tapioca starch Add 1 teaspoon xantham gum per cup of flour Open Original Shared Link
  17. Okay guys, I made this in my quest for pan pizza and it turned out decent. Its definitely not pan pizza, but its super super quick and easy. Its almost as easy as a corn tortilla pizza and much more filling. Its not a "great" pizza, but it is a good snack or lunch. 1 cup all purpose baking mix (like GFP Quick Mix) 1/3 cup milk 4 Tbsp oil Mix baking...
  18. I'm looking for a Pizza Hut knockoff. I know, I know, its really bad for me, but I just can't help but crave it. My daughter has never had pizza hut so I'd like to make a pan pizza for her. Anyone have any luck with this or do I need to come up with something?
  19. I use Burt's Bees hand salve. Its gluten free, smells good, and it works really well. I apply heavily every night after putting the kids to bed. Its greasy, so I always make sure I don't have to do anything in the next ten minutes or so after application. Its so worth it though. I don't have to use any lotion the rest of the day and I always have really dry...
  20. I put mine in the toaster on the lowest setting over and over until it was just starting to get a little brown on it. Then, I cooled it on a paper towel to avoid moisture. My stuffing was probably the best I've ever had, I was impressed. I found the recipe online like 2 minutes before I started making it.
  21. Try Red Bull. Its a strong liquid burst of vitamins and caffeine. It can do wonders for a glutening, at least for me it does.
  22. Unfortunately, there was gluten in the house. The place was immaculate though. I would feel relatively comfortable moving in there without scrubbing like a mad woman. I'd have to rigorously clean, but nothing like I would have to do in any other house. The place was exactly what i want too. I'm just not sure its what hubby wants. Amanda, you should look...
  23. This year I made our stuffing in the crockpot. Last year my stuffing was very crunchy and then kind of gummy in the middle. This year it turned out amazing!!!
  24. We've been looking at houses for well over a year now searching for the perfect place to live. Today we toured a beautiful home and when we opened up the pantry it was stocked with DeBoles gluten free pasta and Koala Crisp!!! I'm sure the realtor thought I was a freak with the way I was carrying on about their food.
  25. Mmmm... That actually sounds good with stuffing mixed in!
