  1. We take GummyVites. They say gluten free right on the jar. They're really tasty too, just like a gummy bear!
  2. Erowhon crispy brown rice with mixed berries is the only gluten free cereal my husband will eat. He loves the stuff.
  3. Its highly likely that you're getting glutened at work. Even if you're using only commissary dough at your store, not the bagged mixes, isn't there flour in food release? Isn't that residue all over everything at your store? I used to work at Pizza Hut and I can't imagine having to work there with Celiac. If I were you I would definitely find another job...
  4. I agree with Momma Goose... Burger King is probably not the safest place to eat. They don't even have a list of gluten free selections (just wheat free).
  5. Try this recipe. The pudding mix keeps them soft, even after days in the pantry. Open Original Shared Link I use french vanilla pudding mix and they always turn out amazing!!! I use the following flour blend: 3 parts white rice, 2 parts potato starch, and 1 part tapioca starch. I add about 2 tablespoons of xantham gum too. They turn out amazing...
  6. Does anyone have a really good stuffing recipe that uses saffron? I love the saffron flavor in stuffing, but I haven't found any great recipes yet.
  7. My gastro told me to start the diet immediately and refused to biopsy me because I was so close to death. A year later I wanted to do the biopsy and he was going to let me, but I got too sick too quickly to every make it long enough to get a positive biopsy. I am diagnosed Celiac with no biopsy.
  8. I buy my flours online at www.kinnikinnick.com. Their rice flours are very finely ground which produces a much nicer texture in baked goods. Shipping is a flat rate of $10 so stock up on bread, bagels, donuts, muffins, cookies, and baking stuff. Their stuff is hands down the best.
  9. I used to suffer from dissociation and depersonalization as a result of borderline personality disorder. Since going gluten free I no longer suffer from those symptoms unless I am SEVERELY glutened. Hopefully this will go away for you completely. Those things are no fun, especially not if you have a good idea of what "normal" feels like.
  10. I'm always on the lookout for things that are labeled as gluten free. The other week I was getting peanut butter and I saw these funky little jars of flavored peanut butters. I knew my husband would really enjoy that, so I picked one up to read the ingredients. They said gluten free right on the label!!! I got chocolate dream and cinnamon raisin swirl. I...
  11. I had a little ladybug and a baby caterpillar. They looked so adorable! We went trick-or-treating, but we only had about 45 minutes because Tori had school the next day. She had a BLAST and the baby slept through it all. It was fun. Luckily, we got mostly gluten free goodies. Even though my daughter is currently eating gluten for testing, I still don't allow...
  12. I agree with Deb, absolutely you need to be careful. I've gotten in the habit of hugging my daughter and giving her eskimo kisses more than "real" kisses. This works well for us and then I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I get my fill of kisses in the morning before she eats any gluten at school. As for adult loved ones, I generally just skip kisses...
  13. I believe Dove has a sensitive lotion. I really like the Dove products. I'm not sure though if sensitive means hypoallergenic or not. You may also have scent issues with it as Dove is lightly scented.
  14. The wheat is probably used as a thickening agent in their synthetic butter sauce to give it a butter-like consistancy.
  15. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link - double check on the gluten status of this one. I recall it as being gluten free, but couldn't find it on their website. Either way its a beautiful area just a few miles from my house. The scenery is amazing and they also own a wolf sanctuary. How cool. For gluten free...
  16. Debbie, there are several bed and breakfasts that can accomodate a gluten free diet. I think there are two in the Lancaster area. One is in Lititz, which is just a few miles north of Lancaster, very cute little town. I can dig up the contact information if you like. As far as restaurants, Lancaster has an Outback and a Carraba's as well as a halfway knowledgeable...
  17. A bit of advice... Carry some wet ones in your purse or pocket. They won't kill the gluten, but they'll certainly wipe some/most/all off of your hands. I do this and thus far I have only been glutened a handful of times without knowing why. It seems to work well for me.
  18. I love Kozy Shack stuff... I'll have to look for the pumpkin pudding. It sounds good.
  19. I don't know if they have gluten in them, but man did I get sick after getting mine!!! I had D and my whole arm felt like it was on fire and itched like crazy! It was almost enough to drive me nuts. I never even thought about the possibility of having gluten in an injection. I thought it was really only oral meds we needed to worry about. Ugh...

  22. There are really two issues with oats. One, the protein in oats is very similar to that in wheat, barley, and rye. Some Celiacs react to this protein, some don't. For those that don't mainstream oats are still widely contaminated with wheat protein (gluten). This is why it is very important to make sure that you use gluten free oats. These are oats that are...
  23. Walmart is the only place that I'll do my grocery shopping since I discovered Great Value Brand. I used to shop at several different grocery stores to get all of my food items. Its nice to have a one stop shop.
  24. I agree with the above post. Generally rolled oats are not considered gluten free due to contamination from other glutenous grains. If you want to use oats in a recipe or something you will need to order special gluten free oats. Please keep in mind though that some Celiacs do have a reaction to oats and they aren't safe for everyone. You may want to try...
