  1. i've heard of the retracing theory. my mother, two of my sisters, and i have fibromyalgia. one of my sisters did a detox and felt like it really helped her fibro. i was to the point that i was ready to try it, but when i asked her for more details i discovered she was still having a lot of pain----since it was fairly expensive,(the program she followed...
  2. the TTg test indicates damage, so if your levels rise on gluten and drop when off gluten, then it is a definite indication of a gluten problem. there is no "safe" amount of gluten for a celiac-----and even if there was, you would probably get enough gluten unintentionally to fill the allowed "quota" without trying.
  3. necco wafers make really cute shingles.
  4. sounds like you have celiac to me. our ped gi tests our girls TTg levels to see how well we are doing at staying gluten free.
  5. what do you mean by suspicious of celiac?
  6. nevadan----that was excellent info---thanks. carla----how do they diagnose adrenal fatigue? my cousin has been sick for years and her family says that is what is wrong with her.
  7. i'll be interested to hear how it goes-----i had only recently heard of coconut flour.
  8. you can have the gene and not have the disease. one of my kids has the celiac gene but the disease has not been activated in him. hopefully it never will.
  9. the chicken pox virus lays dormant, so it is different than some of the other things. i've had chicken pox and shingles----both before i was 5 years old. where did this idea of gluten being stored in fat and tissues come from? is there any research supporting this, or is this just someone wondering if it is a possibility?
  10. so........just how exactly could your body store it without it bothering you-----and then suddenly release it and have it cause symptoms. doesn't make sence.
  11. the incidence of IgA deficiency is higher in celiacs than it is in non-celiacs. maybe this has something to do with it??
  12. my family is involved in the celiac study being done through the university of california, irvine. the information we got on the study said that they know that there are more genes involved than the DQ2 & 8----they just don't know what they are yet.
  13. health valley makes a gluten free cream of mushroom soup with 5 grams of fat per serving----don't know how that compares to progresso as i have never been able to find progresso at a store. i use the health valley soup and thicken it a little with cornstarch when i want to use it in place of campbell's and it works great. someone on here said that they...
  14. how has it been determined by enterolab that certain genes are gluten sensitivity genes? i have read plenty of articles that talk about non-celiac gluten sensitivity, but not a single article that talks about gluten sensitivity genes. why does no one else have this information? or is it out there and i just haven't found it?
  15. my first and second pregnancy it was probably around 5---5 1/2 months before i showed. with later children, i was putting on maternity clothes at 1 month.
  16. if it helps, i'm having a scope done on the 30th of this month----and i don't have celiac. (i'm sure that doesn't help, but at least you know your not the only one having a scope soon!)
  17. it's an easy test-----just have a total IgA serum test run. our ped gi ran a total IgA serum along with the TTg on every one of us. the ones that have continued testing don't need to have the IgA serum run again since we know they are fine in that area.
  18. i totally agree with amanda! our ped gi seems to be very knowledgeable and up-to-date on his celiac info and he has tested my entire family (even the adults) using the TTg test and a total serum IgA. if a person is IgA deficient, a normal celiac test will not work. enterolab does NOT test for IgA deficientcy. if you have already put your daughter gluten...
  19. did they do a total IgA serum to make sure you were not IgA deficient?-----this can throw your test results off.
  20. i just sent my nutrimill back today------but not because i don't want it!!!!! i have heard good reports about nutrimill grinders-----i just happened to get one of the few that was faulty. it blew flour all over the place. i will be anxious to get it back so i can grind my own gluten free flours.
  21. my husband and i have both had thyroid nodules. kevin had one large one. they did an ultrasound, inconclusive---then a needle biopsy, suspicious---then he had surgery. they planned on removing half his thyroid and doing the frozen sample test. if it was cancer, they were going to remove the whole thyroid, if it wasn't they were going to leave half his...
  22. one of my 15 year old twins is struggling with an eating disorder and also has celiac disease. she spent a couple of months in the hospital----and they did not keep her gluten free.
  23. the IgG and IgA of what? depending on what was tested and what the reference range of the lab is can make a big difference as to a diagnosis.
