chrissy replied to chrissy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
here it is---sorry i took so long!!! this recipe is from roben ryberg's book "the gluten free kitchen". i did not list the fruit topping they used in the book, it was just a fresh peach cut up and cooked with sugar, cornstarch and water until thick. i used my homecanned apple pie filling to top the danish with. i think that any fruit pie filling or jam... -

ARCHIVED So Frustrated With School
chrissy replied to Nic's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
i am so sorry that this teacher isn't a little more thoughtful!!! i get torn between wishing people would be considerate of my girls and feeling guilty about not wanting to have to "put people out" because of my girls. kassie went to state with the track team and ran the video camera. the coaches were buying pizza for the team one night. the head... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
chrissy replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
hey all, i have been sobbing since i went to see the neurologist on tuesday. i never got the chance to ask him about testing for lyme disease. heck, i'm not sure if he even recognized me as a human being. i brought a whole list of my symptoms in and mabey got to half of them---and that was with me trying to throw in a few words that he basically ignored... -
ryan, diabetics are more prone to yeast infections than alot of other people are. if she has it in her mouth it could very easily go through the rest of her system. two of my girls had esophageal thrush in the last couple of years and you could not see it in either one of their mouths at the time. yeast can be difficult to get rid of sometimes. diflucan...

WOW!!!!! what happenned? i have never seen rachael say ANYTHING disrespectful about ANYONE------i have a great deal of respect for the things that she says. i have seen this kind of attack on a person on this board several times----and was baffled almost every time and wondered why the offended person had gotten offended. i sometimes wonder if they... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab
chrissy replied to confusedks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
do you think this has anything to do with the reason that he hasn't published yet------"he's getting everything ready for publishing" is easy to keep saying, but isn't he running the risk of losing support from people the longer he puts it off? -
ARCHIVED Enterolab
chrissy replied to confusedks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
no one has mentioned, yet, the fact that enterolab does not test for total IgA serum levels. an IgA deficiency will make IgA based tests useless-----and as far as i know, enterolab's tests are all IgA based. also, saying someone has a "gluten sensitive" gene means nothing either, because according to enterolab, all but a VERY samll percentage of people... -

paula---how did the flour tortilla's turn out and what recipe did you use? i'll post the recipe a little later today-----i don't want to type that long right now (sorry) but i need to make sure i put all the directions with it as it was important to follow them for the rolls to turn out ok. -
i finally tried a gluten free sweet roll recipe yesterday---and they turned out so good!! i used robin ryberg's recipe. these rolls were even made in a square pan-----they didn't have to be put in individual muffin tins to keep their shape. the girls made cream cheese frosting to put on them. i was so excited that they turned out so well!!

ARCHIVED Toddler With Celiac?
chrissy replied to ELB3345's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
here is what i would do in your situation---i'd have a Ttg test run anyway on him, and if it came back negative, i would leave him on a normal diet and keep retesting him periodically. -
ARCHIVED Lab Results - Need Interpretation
chrissy replied to tulsagal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
your tests are negative for celiac. your total IgA is higher than normal---which doesn't necessarily mean anything. -

ARCHIVED Could I Have Been A Celiac Previously?
chrissy replied to Dandelion's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
you are fortunate to have a doctor that recongnized gluten intolerance even with negative blood work and negative biopsies. i think it is possible that you could actually have celiac disease, but there is probably no way you will ever know for sure since you are gluten free. oh well, the treatment is the same, either way. -
ARCHIVED Entrolab Vs Promethius Lab Test
chrissy replied to ADevoto's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
why are you mad about your blood test results? if you know that you feel better gluten free, does it really matter what the blood test says? how important is it to you to know if your son has "blood test proven" celiac disease? will you try him gluten free even if the tests come back negative? do you feel like you need your doctor's approval to try the... -

chrissy replied to DesertRatCeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
what do you get flare-ups of that you take prednisone for? sounds like you have more going on than just celiac disease. and you are right, celiac disease is NOT a wheat allergy. it is an autoimmune disease.
