  1. the bread machine with a gluten free cycle is zojurishi----or something like that!!LOL!! my dad makes pamela's bread in a regular bread machine.
  2. there should be a number inside the piano that tells when it was made. a piano tuner would be able to look this up for you.
  3. i had a colonoscopy done without sedation and it was ok---but, i think that it might depend on how "deep" they need to go as to whether or not you want to be put out.
  4. i hate it when people say celiacs disease, too!!
  5. i have an appt. with a neurologist in 2 weeks---i suppose i could ask him to run a lyme test? is carpal tunnel connected to fibro? i am having so much trouble with it recently. i can't hold a book or magazine without my hands and wrists cramping. my fingers are starting to feel kind of clumsy, too.
  6. i have been weaning myself off of my wellbutrine and my cymbalta. my doc said i couldn't go off of them----but i can't see paying for two scripts a month----and still being depresses and agitated-----i can do that without paying the pharmacy. our weather is changing every few days and since i can feel the changes 3 days before they are obvious, i have been...
  7. i'm not sure what you are asking---you said you have already had a scope done without anesthesia and it was fine-----an endoscopy and a gastroscopy are the same thing. is there a reason that you are afraid of doing it without anesthesia again? i had a scope done in december and was put completely out for it----i can't imagine having it done while awake...
  8. when does eczema normally present itself? i have atopic dermatitis, and it pops up just any old time it feels like it.
  9. i'm greatful that they are at least labeling it a "syndrome" now----at least it is acknowledged that people are really having the problems. i think that there are probably quite a few different "causes" of fibromyalgia. i'd sure like to figure out what is causing mine. ursula---how did you figure out all your other sensitivities???
  10. susan---i'm guessing that it is because of the "SR". the generic name of the med is still buproprion, but when the generic med is made into the "SR" form it gets a different name. that is probably why there are two generic names----did that make sence?---i know it did in my head!!LOL!!! hasn't the "gluten free bible" been around for awhile----that...
  11. the one thing about the article that i find kind of funny, is that they are thinking they could breed this safe wheat----isn't this what caused the problems in the first place? we might breed the wheat to be safe for a celiac, but in the process, we might create some other problem. why do we always think we can improve on mother nature?????
  12. susan---catesfolley was correct in her spelling of the generic name of wellbutrine. it is BUDEPRION, not BUPROPRION. i'm glad you shared your story about the problem with the meds. i know they help so many people, but people need to be aware that when the meds aren't working, or the symptoms are getting worse, that maybe the meds could be part of the problem...
  13. i don't know if there is any hope for safe wheat---but i found this article interesting. Wheat ancestors lack the gluten immunogenic factors of modern wheat] Mapping of gluten T-cell epitopes in the bread wheat ancestors: implications for celiac disease [in Process Citation] Gastroenterology 2005 Feb;128(2):393-401 (ISSN: 0016-5085) ...
  14. does your son have a positive Ttg?
  15. looks like maybe you are IgA deficient-----and there is no celiac test among those. my son is IgA deficient, so he has to have a total IgG serum test and a tissue transglutaminase IgG test done when we do his celiac testing. (he has the celiac gene, so he will have yearly testing)
  16. bette hagman has some great flour blends---i just can't seem to find my book at the moment to tell you the amounts!! her "featherlight" blend has worked really well for us. blends with bean flour in them bake up really nice, and have a bit more nutrition---just remember that bean flour tastes NASTY before it is cooked.
  17. craig---keep in mind that dr. fine feels that NO ONE should ingest dairy. personally, i wouldn't base any life changing decisions based on those test results----the only (barely) positive result you have is anti-gliadin, which can be raised by conditions other than celiac.
  18. barry, sounds like you have a smart doctor. since you didn't have positive blood work, you can't follow the reduction in antibodies to assess your progress. of course, you can choose to do (or not) the endo. personally, i feel like it is a good idea to follow the advice of a doctor you have confidence in, and who has actually examined you. i think that...
  19. basically, what it all comes down to, is you have to do what works for you. as of the LAST antibody test----i believe that all of our girls antibody levels were normal. (some of the earlier tests were the one's that were NEARLY normal) our girls don't have thyroid or neuro problems. we choose not to be celiac "zealots"-----and our girls are healthy with...
  20. my youngest celiac daughter is still in grade school. i think it is really cool when her friends ask her if something she is eating is safe. i feel like they are interested in her and want to help her stay healthy.
  21. save your money----i can tell you your test results from enterolab already-----they are going to tell you that your son has a gluten sensitive gene. your doctor is wrong in saying that your son can ABSOLUTELY not have celiac without DQ2 or DQ8, but chances are he probably doesn't have celiac without them----however, he could still be non-celiac gluten...
  22. is he actually sick, or is he just throwing up? kids can have reflux and do alot of throwing up without being sick. it seems strange, (but fortunate) that he would react so badly to these foods, but not be bothered by them in your milk----but maybe you are on an elimination diet?? allergy testing could help, but not necessarily, since the testing is...
  23. i know this isn't helpful, but, there is something about reading "vital wheat gluten" that makes me snicker to myself----for celiacs, it is like a contradiction in terms!!LOL!!
  24. my girls have eaten soy crisps without a problem.
  25. definitely old school if he still thinks that you have to be anemic and have diarrhea in order to "really" have celiac disease. my 3 girls were not anemic and only one of them got diarrhea---(and not all the time).
