  1. When I am needing a good snack, I combine rice, beans, salsa and sometimes guacamole and sometimes rotisserie chicken. The salsa, guac, and chicken are all from Costco.
  2. I ordered mahi mahi and baked sweet potato fries off the special gluten free menu last night and had a head ache all day. They said they cleaned before making my food but I assume it is difficult in a restaurant kitchen.
  3. Unfortunately I feel this may be common. For 6 years I was told I was fine. Lungs fine, chest fine, just anxiety. It was not until I pressed the anemia issue that I got a blood test. Now I am a bit of a squeaky wheel to my doctor. She referred me to Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN which has a celiac center. I will meet with Dr. Murray (who is a leader in...
  4. I had breast pain a month ago and had a mammogram and armpit ultrasound. It was related to inflamed lymph nodes. Now the lymph nodes in my neck and jaw are very painful. Is yours related to lymph nodes? I don't have an answer for you I am just on a similar gluten free timeline as you are. I don't know why my lymph nodes are so mad. Maybe someone here...
  5. I am 41, female and was told my Iga was 100 1 month ago. I did not want to lift my arms, too much effort. I was on the couch and nauseous wondering what it felt like to be able to complete everyday activities. I am not a young boy but I bet he feels like his body is working hard or fighting a battle that he can not control. Now I have started rock...
  6. This is a very informative thread. I wanted to add what my Dr. told me. She said because my Iga was very high and my Igg was positive, no other testing is needed. I understand that this is different from what most of you have been told. I have asked no less than 3 times for an endoscopy or GI consult. She is insistent that a Yes is a Yes. She said based...
  7. I was chatting moth my friend about this. She is the wife of a pathologist at Mayo Clinic. Her husband runs the lab that processes the blood tests. He says the celiac panel is very accurate in detecting celiac but not at getting the levels. Basically the yes or no is pretty reliable but the high and low numbers can vary. If I were you and gluten free...
  8. I have had that off and on. I find if I bath my dog or use candles during a time when I am a bit weak, it happens. Do you have new carpet, change of seasons, pets? New perfume?
  9. Flowerqueen Do we process slower than the gluten eaters? Just wondering and learning from you all.
  10. I know a burst apendex can be missed. Sounds like you are fighting something. If you are on the upswing, maybe you will recover on your own? Do you believe you are on the way up or are things getting worse for you?
  11. This may be way off but do you eat oats? I felt better until I started eating kind bars and one bowl of gluten free oatmeal. All of it said gluten free but my body reads oats like gluten. Now I am oat free too. With your traveling maybe you ate lots of something your body does not like?
  12. I am newly diagnosed and finding great options for food. Restaurants and social events will take some planning but at home eating may actually make you feel good since fruits, veggies, and meat are all gluten free. Best of luck to you in your journey. I believe you will find lots of support as you progress.
  13. Kimmatt, That is very helpful information. Thank you!
  14. I hear you. That is why I am conflicted. It's some really high number of fruits and veggies and lots of people who love it and swear by it. I believe Celiac.com is a more neutral opinion. Thank you Kareng.
  15. Juice Plus is powdered fruits and veggies in pill form. It will be around $50-$70 per month but claims to help with lots of issues. I can't decide if I should commit or not. Many of the studies are self funded by the company so I don't know how biased they are. I want to feel good again but I don't know if this is the right way to do it. Does anyone have...
  16. I am from the US, lived in Japan for four years and then moved back to the US before I started getting sick. Now that I know I have celiac I am eating Japanese rice everyday. Also, fresh fruits and veggies. I know that can be expensive in Japan and I feel for you. I believe that Japanese curry is made with wheat and I am assuming noodle soups are mostly...
  17. I have been very tired lately. My Iga is 100. My ferretin is 14. I am a 41 year old female. I am giving you these numbers just to let you know how far off they can get before even noticing something is wrong. I wonder if anything else could be causing his fatigue. Is he in sports? Is he happy? My 10 year old son also struggles with fatigue unless...
  18. This is such a great question! I wonder if juice plus is a waste until my system heals?
  19. Your feedback is so helpful! I thought I would let you know that I am 41 and maybe peri menopausal. I have a gatekeeper for a Dr. I am trying to go around her. I would not be too surprised if they find more issues as I progress on this journey. What is a pinching stomach? Thank You Cyclinglady!
  20. Good Afternoon Gluten Ataxia... I just got my brain back after being absent this morning. Does anyone on this thread have any follow up on gluten ataxia? I have celiac and little to no tummy issues and no skin issues. My main issue is my brain with a little annoyance in one ear and maybe swallowing. Anyone else? This thread is 11 years old and I am...
  21. PCP says that an endoscopy is not necessary because both blood tests came back positive and one was very high. I suppose not having to go through an endoscopy has the benefit of not having to endure an endoscopy. Thank you all! I may be too fatigued to fight this out with my PCP.
  22. You got it! That is my question. I have e-mailed my clinic requesting an endoscopy. I am in the US. Rochester, Minnesota. Do you know if I need to eat gluten for an endoscopy if I have been gluten free for a week? I know my city has fabulous resources for Celiac. They are at Mayo Clinic. That is not where I am at. Thank you all so much!
