  1. Why is she doing a colonoscopy to test for celiac? You have to biopsy the small intestine to determine villi damage..

    ARCHIVED Fiance

That's really funny! My local newspaper is running an ad campaign that is all about "Austin gets it" or "my grandparents have been 'getting it' for 50 years" or "I love 'getting it' when I get home after a long day at work" It's all very suggestive For a couple weeks, there were just these ads everywhere for "do you get it?" without what the ads were...
  3. I agree, nothing wrong with freckles!! I have lots across my nose and DH gets upset that I cover them up with makeup Did they apply it with the kabuki brush? That gives you a lot more coverage with the bare minerals!
  4. As has been said before, there are many ups and downs in the healing process. You will have times where you feel like crap. I had about 3 weeks there where I could barely function because I was so tired. Hang in there, you're probably just detoxing and healing. Make sure everything is gluten-free. You may have other intolerances as well. As for the lumpy...
  5. Whoops, misread your post then. Yep, that's definitely high, she more than doubled the normal range. Definitely celiac.
  6. Yay! I'm glad someone else liked it! I love the Simply Recipes blog. Total food porn Elise (the blogger on Simply Recipes) modifed the mousse from a cake recipe, actually. It's a Martha Stewart cake, here's the link: Open Original Shared Link Of course, you'd have to make it gluten-free, but it at least has assembly instructions I think...
  7. A + I'm the only A +, my brother and sister are A - and my mom is O - I know my kids will be A+ too, since DH is also. If my kid isn't that type I think me and the milkman would have some spalinin' to do...
  8. Yes and no, mostly no. I was still feeling pretty crappy even 4 months in, and now I'm on a challenge...so...ask me in a year? Not to say that it's bad!!! It's great, so maybe there's not much room for improvement
  9. Depends on the reference scale. Do you have that information?
  10. This is the gluten alert Clan Thompson sent to it's subscribers on June 6th: So floridanative and I got our wires crossed about the strawberry since the carnation stuff was in the same message.
  11. that would drive me nuts. I know I'll NEVER have that problem, since I run on the opposite end of weight problems, but if I were in that situation, I would probably snap! I would likely say something like, "listen lady, I have a disease that makes me this thin, and it'll kill me if I'm not careful. I could eat half a cow and a field of corn for lunch and...
  12. You're welcome, I couldn't stand to see the little guy be disappointed
  13. unidentified starch - must be identified now by law modified food starch - unless it's Kraft or another trusted company and you know it's safe, it's a toss up. Usually it's corn, but you have to call. hydrolyzed vegetable protein - HVP - usually gluten hydrolyzed plant protein - HPP - usually gluten texturized vegetable protein - TVP - usually...
  14. Kariva is definitely gluten-free, and definitely a third of the cost of the brand name desogen. I get mine 3 months at a time and it saves me tons of money.
  15. I've used it, but right now I'm on the generic, Kariva. It works well for me, and even better, you can skip periods on it! Wahoo! I love monophasic pills. It's given me almost no side effects. And it's gluten-free. The starch is corn.
  16. Eep! Just so you know, the grilled chicken at McDonald's is NOT gluten-free! Neither is the grilled chicken at Applebee's, it comes pre-marinated in soy sauce
  17. Since you seem so sad... I called Friendly's corporate and they said that the watermelon roll is egg and gluten free. The only allergens in it is soy and milk. I had her read the ingredients to me and they all sounded egg and gluten free Enjoy! I miss Friendly's
  18. Found one Jenvan posted a while back:
  19. Make sure they do the ENTIRE panel which is: tTG-IgA or tissue transglutaminase-IgA AGA-IgG or Antigliadin IgG AGA-IgA or Antigliadin IGA Total IGA
  20. Good luck! I hope your power stays on! Keep thinking positive thoughts, no matter how bad things get, they can always get worse (It's fun to be an optimist, isn't it )
  21. So there has been a lot of debate about distilled liquor and gluten-free etc. It is not my intention to start another one. For the purposes of this thread, we're going to assume that distilled liquor is gluten-free with the exception of those that add some of the mash back in. That said... Other than the obvious beer and malted beverages (such as Smirnoff...
  22. So is that replacing Islandberry Crunch?
  23. I read that too, for some reason they put barley in the strawberry flavor. I don't know about you, but I've never run across a strawberry that needed barley to enhance the flavor Stupid artificial flavorings
  24. Wow - don't you wish you were alone Just kidding. Chin up! Break out the playing cards!
  25. Wow- good luck! I'm worried for you and your family...can you corrall the stubborn parents into your house at least? I'm sure y'all will come out of it just fine! Sending good dry vibes your way!
