ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
Green12 replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well I tried my samples Thursday I tried one foundation color, Fair Intensive, I thought it was a little pale and powdery white looking for me. I also used just an old Perscriptives brush I had and I think the brushes you use with this type of make-up (mineral make-up) DOES make a difference. Which brings me to your question Kass, I think having... -
I make a roux with the pan drippings, butter and a flour substitute. I used to use rice flour until I got a little tip from Patti last year about using potato starch (thanks Patti, best gravy I've ever made ) Ratio of butter to flour substitute is 1 to 1, I usually do about 6-8 tbsp of each. Stir or whisk the flour/potato starch in with...

Green12 replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Believe me, I am tempted Overly anxious even, just haven't felt well and I need to wash my brushes, maybe I'll take the Donna approach and forget washing them and just use them anyway........ Does anyone have a blush recommendation for me? I am super pale if that helps The blush I have been using for years is kind of a deep rose color... -

Chatty, chatty OMGers! I can't keep up Offthegrid, congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment Kristina, I really am not up on all the scientificness of celiac testing, but as far as not feeling any better after going gluten-free is not unheard of. It takes everyone different amounts of time to heal the gut with everything functioning... -

ARCHIVED Apple Butter Instead Of Oil Or Applesauce?
Green12 replied to sharps45's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have baked this way before, substituting applesauce or prune puree/baby food prunes in place of the fat (butter or oil). It's been a while, but I think I did cakes, sweet breads, and drop cookies for the most part. I believe it's one to one substitution, but I'm not totally sure on that. -
Your menu sounds great. I made the pretzel salad a couple of years ago and it came out GREAT! It had been a traditional holiday/Christmas dish in our family for years too. I used Ener-G pretzels.

ARCHIVED Low Fat, High Carb, Gluten Free/dairy Free Recipes Preferrably For Christmas
Green12 replied to Pyro's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
White rice has less fiber than brown rice. Quinoa I believe has quite a bit of fiber, as well as some protein. If it's ok, there is a quinoa/corn blend pasta that is really tasty imo. What about potatoes? There have been a few threads in the sports/fitness section that might be helpful to you for gluten-free carb loading ideas, here is an example... -

Yay Nyxie, gald you got an appt to see the LLMD, and so soon! That's awesome. Ok so my question wasn't so hypothetical Just doing a lot of thinking. But thanks for the answers, it gives me more to look into. I wondered if I did have lyme and I did all that chelation but wasn't treating lyme if it caused things to shift. Donna, I could... -

That's a good sign, that the lows aren't as low as they have been I have a hypothetical question.... What would happen if metals were addressed but lyme wasn't being treated?? -
ARCHIVED Chicken Boullion (powder Or Paste) Free Of Corn/soy/gluten?
Green12 replied to cruelshoes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use the Rapunzel Bouillon and seem to do ok with it. I like the flavor too. Andrea, mace is a spice similar to nutmeg. I think they come from the same fruit seed. Your chicken spice mixture recipe sounds good. What is the difference between yeast extract and nutritional yeast different? -

ARCHIVED Natural Peanut Butter
Green12 replied to confused's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
When I make peanut butter cookies (or anything with peanut butter) I always use the freshly ground peanut butter I get at the health food store, it's super thick and only has peanuts as the ingredients, but everything comes out fine. I actually prefer the taste, it's kind of rustic I think. -

Thanks Laura April, darn. No, that wasn't me. BUT angioedema is anaphylactic in nature so there still could be a connection. Thanks for the info anyway, it gave me an idea on something more to investigate. Birdy, your mom has a point. But on the other side of the coin, if you wait until your gut to heal you may never get anything accomplished... -

ARCHIVED Bread For Stratta
Green12 replied to Joanne11's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have had good luck with Whole Foods Gluten Free Bakehouse Sandwich Bread. I don't use it a lot but I made bread pudding with it last year and it came out fabulous. I also use it to make french toast and grilled cheese when my nieces come to visit, it really holds up well with these dishes when other breads have crumbled and fallen apart on me.
