  1. I just recently purchased Neutrogena Sensitive Skin lotion and it's fragrance free. Their phone number is 800-582-4048 if you want to find out for sure it's gluten free. I threw away the box and therefore cannot write down the ingredients but I believe I did not see any gluten ingredient in it. It is a light moisturizier and I like the texture...
  2. Possible reasons for seeing "flies" 1) Floaters 2) "migraine equivalent" or neurological in origin 3) torn retina 4) high blood sugar 5) blocked artery 6) signs of an oncoming stroke or mini-stroke Please talk to doctor about this episode; you may need to see an opthamologist and have a blood test. Best wishes, D.
  3. For my celiac husband, the restless leg developed after going gluten free and has progressively gotten worse. Takes Requipp every night. It's been 2.5 years since started Requipp and over 4 years now for gluten free diet. The Requipp dose has been doubled and here and there he still has some shaking.
  4. That's why you have to ask.....also wheat products are added to many foods at restaurants (example: wheat bread crumbs in tuna salad, chicken salad, etc. to stretch it out). Try to keep in mind that restaurants don't necessarily follow the same receipes that you would use at home. They use tricks to make scrambled eggs fluffier and stretch out...
  5. Hez: we agree with you...the gluten-free diet for my husband is difficult but only made so by sad fact that he went so long going misdiagnosed that he developed other food sensitivities...so he's got a lot of foods to avoid for one reason or another. Life never got "normal" again for him even after he went 100% gluten free. He would welcome a more...
  6. Yes if only the brand name is gluten free.
  7. Actually I was thinking of my father's sister who is 100% Italian....I'd bet a week's pay that she doesn't know about Italians and Sickle cell.... My hard-headed Italian relatives, that unless it happens to them, it doesn't exist.....even if someone in my Italian side of family had it, I'd never know because they refuse to talk about any of them having...
  8. She needed the job as her husband left her and she had no income or marketable skills. She had been a housewife for 15 years and this situation made her ulcers come back worse. Unemployment didn't pay enough to purchase health insurance - at least with disability she could have gone on state Medicad until she got some of her health back and could get...
  9. The only way around this type of personality (Dr) is to lie and say you have abdominal distress and some diarrhea....then AFTER the postive diagnosis you tell her you felt you had to lie to be tested....Maybe this will make the Dr. understand better....
  10. YES! Absolutely & with CAREMARK Doctor must write this code on the original prescription: DAW The doctor must indicate that for health reasons you cannot have the generic. This has worked us me with Caremark. It should not take a month (however, it did take almost that long the first time I had to do this because Caremark was extremely...
  11. I have noticed 4 basic types of people: 1) Intelligent enough to understand it and accept new information. 2) Not too intelligent, but empathetic and loving enough to try to understand it 3) Deliberately obtuse - argumentative, controlling - always wants to be "right" in any argument, will challenge the slightest thing; sometimes out of maliciousness...
  12. Chuckles Do you mean that your pain is on your back, under your shoulder blade? If yes, which side? Does it move around after belching or having gas in your intestines move around?
  13. sometimes what goes around comes around I worked for a hard-boiled place twenty years ago and my co worker was deathly sick with ulcers. She was in training at work - but was out so much she was losing the momentum of the trainnig -- but yet to the doctors was not sick enough for Disability. She was put on "warning" about her attendance and...
  14. As to the frozen breads, I also think it depends on how long that bread was frozen in that freezer at teh store. I've had Kinninnick that was frozen too long and it was awful ....but that same bread when fresh was great.
  15. The CSA has an advertisement running in "Living Without" magazine which shows a group of people, black and white and asks the question something like "are you the 1 in 133"? So the CSA is putting the fact forward that Blacks can get celiac disease. A lot of people don't know that the only other nationality to have a type of Sickle Cell Anemia...
  16. I don't even have willpower when it comes to candy! Imagine a kid! It's not a hopeless situation...all the suggestions given on this thread are super. The teacher needs some "gentle guidance" and not a full blown "blow-out" ....
  17. I am sure that it'll be discovered that all races have a small segment who have celiac: it just isn't going to be in large enough numbers to make a case for a African-Amercian (or fill in the blank) Celiac Society group emerge. However, I urge you and all of those of non-white background to stick to the societies already in place as splinter groups only...
  18. sometimes you can call your creditors and they'll work with you to reduce the debt and set up a payment plan, but you can't use them to make more debt.
  19. I would like to know if anyone has an adaptation receipe for Carrot Pineapple cake when made with a gluten-free vanilla/white cake mix?
  20. I want to point out that I learned this in 2 ways 1) A co worker of mine whose family owned diners and restaurants clued me in on this...her uncle's diner did make the tuna salad by hand, however they included bread crumbs to stretch it out. 2) I purchased some tuna salad at the supermarket, already made, and it had an ingredient label on it which...
  21. This does bear repeating to those who don't know this, but many restaurants, diners and food stores who serve tuna salad, chicken salad, potato salad are adding bread crumbs into the salads to "stretch" them. This will be a source of unintentional glutening. Keep that in mind when ordering. Sometimes the salads are not made by the restaurant - they...
  22. Hi Been through rectal bleeding (my husband has celiac not me) but I have had internal and external hemmorroids AND rectal fissures that bled. This can be fixed outpatient. But please see a gastro for colonoscopy and he'll tell you if you need to see just a protologist for hemmorroids.....chances are that is all it is....but don't take it lightly...
  23. Try the drug companies' websites for photos or ads.....or go to public library & look at the Physicans Desk Reference as there are photos in the front and photocopy those photos...
  24. I thought I noticed this difference and I thought it was my imagination....
  25. Well, we'll take a look at how they market it, how the doctors prescribe it and who is taking it and see how it all turns out. It appears to be more of a good thing, than a bad thing if it is emphasized that it's not a subsitute for a gluten free diet. And there could be some "off label" uses of it eventually. I don't think any mature, sane celiac will...
