  2. I am not familiar with Mannatech or glyco nutrients....if you have a moment could you give some info as maybe others don't know and would want to try this or find that they should be using this, etc. I read some of the link but I always like to hear from the info from the person who really uses the stuff...... Thanks...
  3. A lot of those on board recommended magnesium, so I went to shop for it and didn't know which formula to get? magnesium citrate? I think there has to be two words: magnesium with another word. anyone know the answer? thanks
  4. This is gonna sound stupid, but we are lucky he's getting this much (once a month)...his PCP/internest ran a blood test on him and said that he didnt need any shots because his blood levels for (?) was in normal range. So my husband casually mentioned to my PCP that he got shots from his PCP (no, not really) and my PCP agreed to give him a monthly shot...
  5. Ok, for here on in, anything crunchy in a candy bar should be investigated as it could and most likely is wheat (gluten) based.
  6. My husband's internist showed professional jealously when we told him that the gastro diagnosed celiac disease from blood test (but biopsy was negative as it was a year after going gluten-free). Internist poo-poo'd (sorry for the pun) the celiac diagnosis.
  7. My husband's PN does not feel much better after his monthly B shot (he does take it sublingually too) so it appears that it's here to stay....
  8. My advice when it comes to relatives, acquaintences, co workers, casual friends.....don't over explain unless you have to point out something about the gluten free status of food or the diet; don't give them any more information about you're being positive or negative other than saying "yes, the tests concluded that I have celiac disease." For some stupid...
  9. I have ovarian problems and Gyn. ordered this test for me to have..... anyone go thru cyst problems & have this test? Isn't this test given to women who have female family members with ovarian cancer? Or does this test pick up new ovarian cancer? I am not too worried as I've had these darn cysts for two years now and I get annual sonograms...
  10. Hi and welcome to the board. Just wanted to say that my husband was 27 years old when he first was hit by celiac but it took doctors 27 years after that to make a correct diagnosis. I also know of a good number of others whose symptoms started or gene triggered after childhood.
  11. The positive blood test clinches it that you have celiac disease. It's a blood test which picks up the level of the antigens in your blood. My husband's was "strong-positive" to which the gastro said that it confirmed that he had celiac disease for many, many years.
  12. My husband started with burning feet (and pins and needles) right after he went gluten-free and it' been 3 years and it hasn't stopped. Diabetes has been ruled out. Only thing it could be is that he went so long misdiagnosed and this is another complication of celiac due to malabsorption and malnourishment for years. He also gets a monthly Vit B shot...
  13. Well, maybe 3 strikes and you're glutened out? Realistically, you know your body had some reaction, whether it was apparent or silent. What's a Waldo's Pizza, gluten free? Does your date think you're now making up celiac disease as you're eating wheat?
  14. Well if the US govt runs national healthcare the way they run the Veterans Administration health care we are all in trouble. They cannot run healthcare. Count me out and keep me on a private plan. The Veterans Administration is the FIRST group who misdiagnosed my husband and called him a drug-addict, when he was only sick with celiac. I for one am...
  15. It depends on what in the butter bothers you....casein or lactose or both? some substitute butters may contain either of these two ingredients to "mimick" butter.
  16. No "upper end" grills for me.....someone might steal it or worse USE IT while I am not home and get gluten on it! Last year someone stole my junky beach chairs which I kept outside (plastic/webbed folding ones). Garden Apartment living!
  17. Grey: where are you located? There are a few major university hospitals around country (USA) which have Celiac knowledgeable gastros (Calif, NY, Maryland, Illinois). Perhaps if contacting those physicians you can get a referral for a doctor in your area.....
  18. Sunny: Please post phone number for Clinique as I have to call too...
  19. Ok, glad this is settled. So for those who prefer non chemical way there's natural wood chips and for those who use charcoal there's some answers and for those who prefer their gas grills - go for it! Now everybody enjoy a nice grill cooked meal!
  20. When you see a product that only states "Wheat-Free" & doesn't state "Gluten-Free" it's a product that people who are avoiding "wheat-only" would want to buy. If you are staying away from from gluten, you must purchase products which are "gluten-free" as "wheat-free" may also contain oat, rye or barley in some form. It's an important difference...
  21. Response from Trivita: Dear member, All of trivita's products except the peaches and cream fiber are gluten free. Trivita trivita.com - good source for sublingual V B-12, Incl. B6 & Folic Acid ************ On another note: Freeda Vitamins are gluten-free too www.freedavitamins.com This site, however, was down this morning (6...
  22. Sounds like your sister will rise from all of this and do well. She has good family support and their love. No woman should go thru what she went thru .... and glad you posted it as it's a good lesson for young women to remember that there are men out there (and some women too to keep this even) that can't be trusted. I remember having a divorced...
  23. ...I asked the same question & got this response too: (poor Candy must be working overtime!) June 6, 2007 Reference Number: 4937931 Dear Mrs. XXXXX, Thank you for contacting us about Kingsford Regular Charcoal Sure Fire Grooves. We always appreciate hearing from our consumers. There is no gluten or wheat in the charcoal. It is...
  24. I don't think Zonulin is an enzyme ... I think they have a website to read how it works. It's not like lastase (Lactaid) - I believe it works on the cell level. It's already in human trials.
