  1. I suppose I've been here awhile, though I have been remiss in my celiac-ing duties these past few months.
  2. Yes. Approximately 1 in 5000 are currently diagnosed. They used to think that that was also the prevalence rate. Most recent studies have shown that an estimated 1 in 133 have celiac. That said, the rate more than doubles in those exhibiting celiac symptoms (about 1 in 55). And first degree relatives of celiacs have that approximately 1 in 20 prevalence...
  3. Spelt certainly is not gluten-free. "a wheat (Triticum aestivum spelta) with lax spikes and spikelets containing two light red kernels." Now, you will get some health food store employees who will tell you it's gluten-free, but it's not. And the article on this site warning against various common pitfalls in a gluten-free diet discusses misinformed health...
  4. Yes! This is very, very promising that they're moving to the human testing phase. You guys will have to tell us how it goes if any of you are "tested."
  5. I forgot about this one.

    ARCHIVED Michelle In Utah?

    Yay! You're back--sort of--will be back.
  7. Nice.... I love Chebe--this will be interesting
  8. E-mail me to get it in word document form or I copied and pasted it on the board somewhere.
  9. Danna Korn is fantastic--cannot go wrong with her books, particularly Wheat-Free, Worry-Free. She has a new book coming out soon, Gluten-Free for Dummies or something of the sort (see amazon .com). Jax Peters Lowell is another story: Open Original Shared Link Do what you want, but I would strongly urge against Jax... I trust Danna Korn pretty unconditionally...
  10. It's gluten-free. But the artificial sweeteners can give some people problems.
  11. Regular Milky Ways not gluten-free. Midnight Milky Ways are. As are 3 Musketeers.
  12. Yeah--I saw that on Delphi. They use a different paste to keep the packaging on or something--and the paste for those that are in the multi-packs contains malt. I'm 14 and I don't trick or treat anymore! I stopped... I guess two years ago. Oh, some candy?
  13. I meant Admin. You can PM "Admin" or e-mail info@celiac.com. Sorry, I should have clarified.
  14. WOW!! That's fast!
  15. E-mail or PM Scott and ask if he would change it for you and provide an alternate user name you'd rather use. Then you can retain your profile, PMs, posts, etc. and still get a new "identity"
  16. Both light and regular Hawaiian Punch are gluten-free--all flavors.
  17. Beware of corn starch? He's going with ALL gluten, not the gluten that harms celiac. And dextrin almost always is made from corn, not wheat. Vegetable cooking spray as a possible source of gluten is the most random thing...he does recognize cross-contamination as being a problem, though. This article demonstrates an about average understanding of celiac...
  18. Aww...darn.
  19. Discovery health channel--is that different from the regular Discovery Channel?
  20. Sure--that makes sense. When you get lots of vegetables, fruit, fiber, etc. it can be harder on the not-completely-healed stomach/intestine. Not detrimental to your recovery, but it'll make you feel sick right now--maybe hold off for a few more months or drink a little less of it.
  21. I sent "mine" (well, the one from SillyYaks that I am distributing) to you.
  22. Done...again, though, let's try to shift threads.
  23. I e-mailed my doctor, because I wanted to make sure what I was saying was correct and I wasn't misinterpreting what he said:
