  1. Here's what Butterball said last year: "When there are dietary concerns, we advise purchasing Butterball Fresh Turkey and Butterball Fresh Breast of Turkey, which are all-natural and contain no added ingredients. The breast meat of Butterball Frozen Turkeys, including Butterball Frozen Stuffed Turkey, is moistness enhanced with a patented recipe of ingredients...
  2. "I understand her gripe completely as I myself posted Butterball's response about their frozen turkeys three times when others were writing that all turkey is gluten free. NOT TRUE! (only fresh turkey is, many frozen ones are not)." I'm sorry, but this cannot pass. Every single frozen turkey I've ever checked in four years has been gluten-free. As I've...
  3. They're made by Hershey, so any gluten would be listed in the ingredients. richard
  4. Every dish detergent I've checked has been gluten-free. Dawn is. richard
  5. I was staying away from this, but it's generally accepted by celiac experts that gluten on the skin does not trigger DH or internal celiac symptoms, although I'm not certain how much research has been done on the DH part. I know gluten on the skin doesn't bother me. richard
  6. If you are gluten-free and have healed, your chances should be the same as any other woman. The odds that your child will have celiac are higher than average, but it's definitely not a certainty. My father has celiac disease and I'm the only one of three children who has it. richard
  7. No hard feelings at all. BTW, I had DH for more than 20 years (didn't know of the celiac connection and didn't have any other symptoms during that time) and took dapsone that whole time. I know all about the misery of DH. Gluten on my skin does not trigger any reaction on me, and once you clear all your Iga deposits out it shouldn't on you, either. I...
  8. Well, let's take a look at what Dove said. First, and most important, they will clearly list any gluten. That's good. Second, they don't test for gluten and won't guarantee gluten-free status. Completely normal. Third, CC is always possible. Yep, also standard, particularly when there's wheat in the plant. Even companies that don't make anything containing...
  9. No rpoblems with Dove for me. richard
  10. There's some very slim chance the pregelatinized starch could have gluten but the sodium starch is gluten-free. Odds are very high it's gluten-free, but you should check with Target to make sure. Advil is gluten-free. richard
  11. I know nothing about Revival soy bars but my guess would be that they don't test for gluten. Most companies don't. Soy itself does not have traces of gluten. Soy is gluten-free. richard
  12. I don't know of a tequila or rum that has gluten. Bacardi is definitely gluten-free. Smirnoff vodka is corn-based. I won't get into the whole distilling thing. richard
  13. The standard advice these days is to repeat blood tests and if they're negative, there's no need for a follow-up endoscopy. I am not, however, a celiac expert or a doctor, and I would always suggest you listen to your caregiver (well, most of the time anyway). richard
  14. Beano has essentially a CYA warning, which is standard for GlaxoSmithKline. It's been tested to the lowest possible level and is negative. I know that all of this copmpany prescription drugs are gluten-free. I went in the opposite direction of what you're talking about -- I eliminated things I later discovered were gluten-free and could be eaten. If it...
  15. The potential for developing certain cancers and other autoimmune diseases is higher in people who don't follow the diet. In addition, if you've tested positive in the biopsy, that means damage is definitely being done and if you continue eating gluten it will almost certainly catch up with you. I was pretty much feeling normal (and I bet my blood levels...
  16. The preps for these tests are gluten-free and so are the gummi Lifesavers. Some folks do indeed have a rough time with the preps, but not because of gluten. Good luck. richard
  17. There's no one answer because everybody is different, but most celiac experts would like to see you eating gluten for at least 12 weeks. It might also partly depend on how long you haven't been eating it. Make sure your doctor orders the full blood panel, which should include at least four tests -- total Iga, Iga, Igg and ttG. richard
  18. Maltodextrin in the U.S. by law MUST say so if it's made from wheat. If it doesn't say wheat, it's gluten-free. Kraft will clearly list gluten in the ingredients if a product has it, so all you have to do is read. Most shredded cheeses are in fact gluten-free; one brand of Mexican blend is the only one I can think of that has gluten. The fear used to be...
  19. Even Peter Greene said the boy's symptoms were very atypical. To me the real outrage was that the mother's doctor told her not to worry about family members having it, and that it took doctors so long to say, hey, she has celiac, maybe we'd better throw that test in even though this is an unusual symptom. richard
  20. It was a good show but the whole hour wasn't about the Murphys. Strange, but the third story sounded more like somebody with celiac than the Murphy story. richard
  21. As pointed out, there's no 100 percent guarantee. There might be places that are very close to 100 percent, but unless you control the production of every ingredient and every ingredient that goes into every ingredient and so on, there's ALWAYS a chance of CC. And even then mistakes can happen. I think I even remember Kinnikinnick calling something back...
  22. Prgresso says it will clearly list any gluten. All you have to do is read the ingredients. richard
  23. I simply don't see the difference. Even when a company puts gluten free on a label, I read the ingredients. It's just second-nature now. And most companies that do put gluten-free on a label don't test it, so they're no more sure than Kraft is. richard
  24. Commenting on folks trying to replace ice cream -- except for the obvious flavors like cookies and cake and Oreo, the vast majority of ice creams are gluten-free. No need to look for replacements. richard
  25. I was diagnosed by a panel of blood tests and then a biopsy. Don't know about using a CT. I didn't have any other gastrointestinal problems. richard
