  1. Both companies that make those products say they will clearly list any gluten. All you have to do is read the ingredients. richard
  2. From what I understand they took it off the menu because of a tarragon vinegar in the dressing -- not because of the vinegar itself but because they're not sure of something in the tarragon flavoring. GIG is advising people to avoid the dressing for now, even though it's very possible there's actually no gluten in it. The blue cheese used in the dressing...
  3. Unfortunately you cannot just depend on the Internet. I'ts a huge, huge help but there's all kinds of old info out there. Keep reading and keep asking questions. And if you ever see wheat, rye or barley in ingredients, do not eat it. richard
  4. If you are reacting to blue cheese started on an artificial medium then you're not reacting to gluten. Those blue cheeses are without question gluten-free. If you truly are reacting to whatever tiny amount of gluten might be in blue cheese started on bread, I'd most definitely avoid eating out or even using any processed products made on shared lines....
  5. "I HAD heard that herbal teas were bad, and just learned in a different post here this morning that annatto is also not a good thing. Any other additives I should know about?" SOME herbal teas have barley, but not nearly all. You just have to check. Annatto is perfectly gluten-free. richard
  6. The culture or mold for blue cheese is sometimes started on bread but more often these days is started on an artificial medium. So if you know a blue cheese wasn't started on bread, you know for certain it's gluten-free. Even if it is started on bread, no one really seems to know whether any of the gluten actually carries over to the culture. And even...
  7. If you've run coffee through it since then you should be fine. richard
  8. I'm not saying everybody should do this, but I've been gluten-free for more than four years. When there's an ingredient that I've NEVER found or even heard of having gluten, I'm not as skittish about it as I used to be. If I'm somewhere and I'm faced with a food or product that I know is almost always or always gluten-free, and the only allegedly "suspect...
  9. I don't think so. Especially not from genital contact. I can see it now, "Not tonight, honey, you had pasta for dinner." richard
  10. Never found a vanilla or vanilla flavoring with gluten. The worry used to be that the alcohol used to extract it might come from wheat. But the alcohol, when it has it, is distilled. richard
  11. Caramel coloring in the U.S. is fine. In more than four years I've never found caramel coloring with gluten. The same goes with the red and blue dyes -- the reason the research hasn't supported these dyes having gluten is because they don't richard
  12. "If they (DOCTORS) cared that much they'd extend their hours and take shorter lunches. I know many lawyers, accountants and pharmacists in America who do not get to take lunch at all, let alone every day and for two hours. (BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY DO HERE IN AMERICA THE DOCTORS DO NOT WORK DURING THE HOURS OF 11 AND 1 AT ALL AND THEY DO NOT TAKE APOINTMENTS...
  13. Both can cause problems, but some people without celiac have the same troubles. richard
  14. I've never had a doctor be offended. You paid for these tests; you have a right ot the results. richard
  15. Dextrose is a form of sugar. It's gluten-free. As for the chicken, raw meat is required to list wheat, rye, or barley if it's there. Potassium lactate, which is gluten-free, is used to inhibit food-borne illnesses. richard
  16. If there's a particular brand you like you should call and check to make sure, but the vast majority of flavored coffees are gluten-free. The main ones you have to watch out for are the ones at shops that they add non-coffee ingredients to. richard
  17. Please don't deny her the opportunity just because of the cookies. There are plenty of gluten-free goodies you can eat. richard
  18. Every single sausage I've specifically checked, the spices and natural flavors have been gluten-free. And before too long it will have to be clearly listed if there's wheat. richard
  19. I don't have a link, but I'm pretty certain women are more prone to autoimmune diseases, including celiac. richard
  20. My father and an aunt on my mother's side. All other first-degree relatives tested and none have it. richard
  21. Cellulose is gluten-free. richard
  22. As you saw in the list, there are certain ones that Coke will "guarantee" as gluten-free. Coke used to say ALL of their drinks were gluten-free but then changed their tune. I suspect (as do many others) that all their drinks are still gluten-free, but they won't "guarantee" the ones with ingredients they don't have as much control over because a lawyer told...
  23. Jimmy Dean. Hillshire Farms link. Johnsonville. Honestly, the only sausages I've seen that haven't been gluten-free have the gluten clearly listed. You should still check, but amazingly enough, most sausage is safe. richard
  24. You need dapsone until you are completely gluten-free for a number of months. Also reduce iodine during that time. If you remain strictly gluten-free, the DH will go away and you won't need the dapsone. richard
  25. Cane syrup is syrup made from cane. It shouldn't have gluten. richard
