  1. "Are you reacting to fresh tuna and fresh salmon? Or are you eating the canned stuff. Most brands of canned tuna and salmon (and other canned fish) are not gluten-free...be sure to check with the manufacturer on the brand you are eating." I haven't personally checked canned salmon, but every single canned tuna I've ever checked has been gluten-free. The...
  2. I looked at the store yesterday and the Trix still has wheat starch, but the Cocoa Puffs were OK. Don't know the date but they said something like a more chocolatey taste. richard
  3. I don't know how long you've been gluten-free, but after a while I'd try it again -- very small amount at first. Wait until you think you've really healed. richard
  4. Everybody is so different. I never had the hurting belly and rarely had the diarrhea, but I was extremely anemic and was basically dying of malnutrition. It was 10 weeks before I had the energy to return to work at a desk job and months before I was close to "normal." richard
  5. I think that while most folks on a forum like this do not cheat, but everything I've read indicates that the vast majority of people evetually do cheat, either because they MUST have something or they get caught in a situation where they're starving and they didn't bring anything. I don't know what percentage regularly cheat, though. richard
  6. I agree about no stupid questions. I don't think the majority of people with celiac are lactose intolerant, but if you are, lay off it for a while. Most people who ARE intolerant solely because of celiac can eventually tolerate dairy again. Not all, but many. richard
  7. Karen, That is indeed Grace. I was feeling down recently so I decided to put it up. I don't know that I'll leave it for long because it's sometimes startling to go to a thread and see it. thanks richard
  8. Here's one explanation. I'm not a science person. Essentially, if your Iga is high you almost certainly have celiac, although you can have a false negative. Igg, on the other hand, is not as specific to celiac. Open Original Shared Link As for the biopsy, no celiac test is 100 percent. Your child needs to be eating gluten and you should ask how many...
  9. I post this not to stir up any more debate but because I hadn't seen this statement before. If it was posted and I missed it, this thread can be deleted or ignore. This is from the CSA, which is generally VERY cautious. While they always advise avoiding anything that orginally has a gluten ingredients, they seem to agree that the fries are negative for...
  10. Which test came back at 94? Igg or Iga? If Iga that's a positive test. If Igg it's a little more doubtful, but I've known people with celiac and only the Igg positive. The failure to thrive, diarrhea and unexplained qnemia are certainly major symtpoms of celiac disease, but of course I can't say that's it for sure. If nothing else works, I'd try going...
  11. By the ingredients, the mustard sounds gluten-free. However, if you keep having issues with mustards, something else is going on. Mustards are almost universally gluten-free (not every single one, mind you). Kraft is gluten-free and so is French's. richard
  12. Herb Ox is gluten-free, as is Kroger brand (if you have Kroger there). richard
  13. Finding a recipe to make it would be as easy as a google search or go to foodtv.com and search. I haven't seen a commercial hummus that does have gluten, but you should always check. Just call the company. richard
  14. Complete legal BS. They put this up in case some wheat blows in from somewhere. richard
  15. First, I am absolutely NOT advising anybody to eat Dannon. We should give our business to a company willing to be more upfront. Reality is, though, that this comes down once again to the distilled alcohol thing (same with Stoneyfield Farm). Dannon yogurt is almost certainly gluten-free, but I'll spend my money elsewhere. richard
  16. Zoloft is gluten-free. Although you should always make sure, I've never heard of an anti-depressant that does have gluten. richard
  17. My opinion -- Kraft is very trustworthy as far as listing ingredients and I've heard very few complaints about CC. However, any company that makes various processed foods always has a chance of CC. That's just life. Still, I don't heistate to use Kraft foods and to trust their labeling. richard
  18. I've never heard of a cigar that does have gluten. richard
  19. Actually, the photo is of my beautiful daughter. richard
  20. Folks, I'd settle down until we find out more. Let's not turn this into another McD. richard
  21. When I was diagnosed I was first extremely ill and was in the hopsital for 11 days. Without insurance, my bill would have been almost $40,000. That was just the hospital bill. richard
  22. "Hi! I called Ragu Sauce last night and got a ration of crap from the guy who answered the phone." It's strange that the Ragu guy would give you a hard time. Ragu is a Unilever company and Unilever lists gluten. All you have to do is read the ingredients. Cracker Barrel has released a gluten-free list at least twice in the past four years but then has...
  23. No matter what your friend told you, if the grain vinegar is made from something other than wheat (almost no distilled vinegar is made from wheat), there is absolutely no way there can be gluten in it. You might react to it in some fashion but it is NOT a gluten reaction because there is no gluten. Take Heinz white or distilled vinegar for instance. It's...

  25. "OK, so the batch that was tested was allergen free. Are they going to continue to test every single batch of fries to ensure that they will continue to be allergen free???" Of course not. Do you demand that every restaurant or every manufacturer test every batch of everything they serve? I don't know of anybody who tests everything. "My Personal Choice...
