  1. It's your choice, but at some point when you can be miserable at home with no obligations if necessary, you should try cheese again. Many people -- though not all of course -- can tolerate it once they've been gluten-free. richard
  2. I think any Disney destination is a great place to go with celiac (or other dietary restrictions), but it's still eating out -- and eating out at a busy place. You always take a chance. But you also take a chance with processed foods. richard
  3. There's always a very tiny chance of something happening, but for almost everybody -- and I mean nearly 100 percent of people -- the endoscopy is no big deal. I had two when I was already extremely ill from undiagnosed celiac disease, and had no problems at all.   5. Nobody on this thread has said to eat the bacon but I thought I'd warn explicitly -- DON'T eat the bacon. The vast majority of bacons are gluten-free, but McD's is not. richard
  6. The danger is in accidentally getting some in your mouth and swallowing. It would certainly be just a tiny amount but it could build up over time. richard

Here's my understanding: If a product contains one of the eight top allergens (fish, seafood, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, dairy, soy or eggs) or one of the allergens is used in processing, that allergen must be clearly listed in some way.   16. I haven't heard of a cream cheese that has gluten. Philadelphia, Kraft and Kroger definitely are gluten-free. richard
  17. In four years, absolutlely never heard of a tomato paste that isn't gluten-free. richard
  18. MFS is very, very rarely wheat. And we're getting to the point with the new labeling law now where it would have to be listed. richard

  20. Kroger corned beef is gluten-free. Corned beef made according to regular recipes should be gluten-free. richard
  21. Don't know of any ketchup that has gluten. The real official Swedish Fish are definitely gluten-free. richard
  22. Stoneyfield has confirmed that the "gluten" they talk about comes from distilled alcohol and only distilled alcohol. I agree with the experts who say distilling takes the danger out, so I would eat it. Even if you didn't agree and believe that none of the "gluten" is eliminated, extracting flavors using alcohol isn't anything like drinking the alcohol...
  23. I don't know of ketchup that isn't gluten-free. Heinz ketchup is gluten-free. richard

In addition, within a few months or so even the modified food starch will be safe if it doesn't say wheat because the new labeling law requires it (companies can still use their old labels so you can't trust it quite yet). I've never heard of MFS being from rye or barley. richard
  25. I'm not advising anybody to take dapsone as I am not a doctor or a medical person, but if you check the literature, the worst side effects are very, very rare and can easily be monitored. richard
