  1. In the U.S. Hershey, Nestle and Russell Stover will list gluten. richard
  2. As the companies have told you, these are gluten-free. Really. richard
  3. Raw meat of any sort must by USDA law list stuff that adds nutrition, including wheat and barley, if it's there. All you have to do is reads the ingredients. richard
  4. I wouldn't do it. Some people require up to 18 months for their blood tests to return to normal. richard
  5. Lifesavers, JollyRanchers, Sprite, 7UP -- All gluten-free Lollipops, Chewing Gum -- Can't absolutely say without knowing brand, but almost without exception gluten-free. Ice cream -- Generally speaking gluten-free except obvious flavors like cookie dough or Oreo. Potato chips -- I go with Utz but there are others. richard
  6. Not saying this is normal but I don't think it's unusual. When you go gluten-free you start absorbing the good stuff, but you also start absorbing the bad, and possibly gain weight. Mine went up. richard
  7. Recovery time differs depending on the person, but I've definitely never heard of a full recovery in six weeks, even among the very young, and absolutely not that fast if the villi are destroyed. Mine we completely flat and although I started slowly improving almost right away, it was months and months before I was back to normal. No doctor can put a definite...
  8. You psyched yourself out. Here's what Shadybrook says on its website: Does Shady Brook Farmsâ„¢ Turkey contain gluten or MSG? TOP Most all of our products are MSG and gluten free. The only exceptions are our meatballs, a new Teriyaki Tenderloin and a new frozen Turkey Burger. All of our deli meats are also MSG and gluten free. We don't...
  9. Don't forget that companies can keep using old labels until they're gone. With slower selling items it's possible that could take months. richard
  10. Make sure you refrigerate the beer. It can go bad on you. richard
  11. I can understand your distress over this, but my opinion is that if lawsuits start popping up, most restaurants will simply refuse to say whether or not something is gluten-free. Restaurants are not required to serve gluten-free meals any more than they're required to serve vegetarian or low-calorie meals. richard
  12. "Gluten" doesn't die because it isn't alive. If baking bread at 350 degrees doesn't "kill" the gluten, why would frying it at 375 "kill" it? There is a temperature at which the protein structure is destroyed, but the food would also be a blackened crisp and inedible. You need to continue to eat gluten until you have the biopsy, otherwise you'll never be...
  13. In addition to the fact that Kraft will list gluten, dextrose is sugar and is gluten-free, and in the U.S. if maltodextrin is made from wheat, the product must clearly say so. richard
  14. If you haven't been gluten-free for very long and are still healing this is completely normal. Your body is craving those calories and minerals and vitamins it hasn't been getting. richard
  15. First, gluten sensitivity and celiac are not allergies. Some celiac experts think gluten sensitivity is only an early phase of celiac. Even if NAET works on allergies, sensitivity and celiac are not allergies. It's possible that your child reacted to wheat first and not the others because the others have less of the offending proteins. The longer she was...
  16. Red wine vinegar is without question gluten-free so not sure why they'd warn us away from that. And the vinegar in the salsa is distilled and probably made from corn anyway. richard
  17. I took dapsone for 20 years and it worked perfectly, even when I was eating gluten. For me it stopped the itching and blisters within a day or two. I did not, however, know about the connection to celiac disease so didn't go gluten-free until celiac landed me in the hospital. Dapsone would be good while you go gluten-free and until you heal, but your goal...
  18. They were wrong. All the meat at Chipotle is gluten-free. As are the sauces. richard
  19. It's true that BWW wings are gluten-free. The fryer they use for the regular wings is JUST for those wings, and the sauces are applied after cooking. The teriyaki and Thai are the only flavors that are NOT gluten-free. As far as hot, Frank's is mostly definitely gluten-free and the hot wing recipe on the back is the best. richard

    ARCHIVED Bk Fries

"well considering i dont eat steak or any seafood... " That does tend to put the brakes on eating out a good bit, esepcially with celiac. Steak and grilled or baked seafood are a couple of safer bets. I have eaten the brunch at Golden Corral once. The omelets are made right in front of you and the manager at the one I went to was very good about checking...

    ARCHIVED Bk Fries

The Whopper used to be my favorite fast-food hamburger but now it's the Low Carb Thickburger, although I rarely eat it. Hardee's does not have dedicated fryers, so the fries are out. I personally do avoid the BK fries. Actually, I pretty much avoid them all. Sometimes I make my own at home. richard
  22. The horseradish definitely is. I haven't ever checked the other. richard

    ARCHIVED Bk Fries

I'd have to agree that there's no way the corporate office can guarantee every BK is using dedicated fryers like they're supposed to. But as far as allergens versus gluten, barley, oats and rye are not going to be a problem with fries. In fact, hidden rye and oats are never a problem as far as I know. richard

    ARCHIVED Bk Fries

If you go check out the BK website, their allergen information specifically says the fries are not done in oil with any allergen, including wheat. Open Original Shared Link I don't usually eat at BK myself, but I know that the BK closest to me has a dedicated fryer for fries. I've asked. The few times I've eaten there I've never seen onion rings mixed...
