  1. I would have contacted the resort directly. If it's a decent place they would be able to take care of you. richard
  2. There's no way I can answer everything at this point. However, rye and oats are never or virtually never hidden. They are not a concern in that regard. Rice malt comes from rice and corn malt comes from corn. Not a concern. However, most malt is from barley, so you need to automatically consider malt a threat. Sugars are OK and I still have yet to find...
  3. Most every celiac expert I've seen says introduce gluten when you would normally. That's what we did. So far, I'm the only one with celiac disease. richard
  4. Hillshire Farm prepackaged sandwich meat is all gluten-free. richard
  5. NAET will do nothing for celiac and in fact probably does nothing for anybody. richard
  6. In four years I've never found an instant coffee that wasn't gluten-free in the U.S. richard
  7. From what I understand, at least some wheat starch in very low in gliaden and when it meets a certain level, it is allowed in gluten-free food in Europe. But even this low level still makes some people sick. If your aim is zero gluten then you don't want it. It sounds like this medication is important for you to at least be able to function, and possibly...

    ARCHIVED Flu Shots

The regular flu shot is not recommended for anybody with an egg allergy. richard
  9. McCormick clearly lists gluten, so all you have to do is read the ingredients. richard
  10. First, I am NOT telling anybody to get a flu shot. It's your decision alone. "If you'd do some research you'd find out that in nursing homes when the flu strikes, EVERYBODY who's had the flu shots will catch it, and the only ones who don't are the ones who didn't get it." If you're going to make an assertion like this you really need to provide the...
  11. Let me preface this by saying that I am NOT a doctor and would not presume to tell you to ignore your doctor. If there's no question you ougrew the egg allergy, then I don't see that poart of it would be a problem. I had an egg allergy for a few years when I was little and have had no problems for many, many years. The vaccine also shouldn't be a problem...
  12. If there's a possibility you have celiac disease (do you have symptoms), continuing to eat gluten for another year would be a bad idea. richard
  13. If your child has had a positive test for celiac disease then it's pretty much a certain thing. Bacterial overgrowth is more common in people with celiac disease, but I can't tell you why scientifically. richard
  14. Check Scharffenberger. Expensive but very, very good chocolate. Top of the line. Open Original Shared Link richard

    ARCHIVED Sushi?

I also have yet to find wasabi with gluten. richard
  16. Overgrowth symptoms can be very similar to some celiac symptoms. I don't know the tests for it, but I do know it can be hard to diagnose (where have we heard that?). I know that some celiac experts just automatically put patients on a probiotic without even testing. I am not a medical person and would not suggest you do this without consulting with your...
  17. From what I understand, steroids definitely can affect the results. You can get a false negative because of them. All first-degree relatives should be tested. If you have it, your children have something like a 1-3 chance. richard
  18. Check out Crayola and Palmer. richard
  19. If you have celiac you have to avoid not just wheat (all varieties, including spelt), but also barley, rye and oats (oats are all contaminated with wheat in the U.S.). The "gluten" that harms us is a protein and is not actually alive, so, no, you can't kill it. Baking bread at 350 degrees or deep frying something at 375 doesn't get rid of it, which is...
  20. Corn tortillas are generally OK, although some are less likely to be contaminated than others. Mission brand tortillas are made on dedicated lines. richard
  21. Walmart is now labeling a lot of stuff as to whether or not it's gluten-free. You can also call Walmart now but I can't find the e-mail with the number. I've never specifically checked on Walmart ground pepper, but I've never heard of or found a pepper that has gluten. richard
  22. You should absolutely have the blood tests on all of your children. In fact, all first-degree relatives should be tested. richard
  23. Heinz ketchup is gluten-free. Malt vinegar is actually brewed from malted barley and therefore is not gluten-free. Brewing, as with beer, does not make the barley safe. "Vinegar" or distilled vinegar is distilled, which does make it safe. In addition, wheat is only very rarely used as the grain in distilled vinegar (some vinegars even use wood) so it's...
  24. I don't know of any vanillas that aren't gluten-free. The alcohol in it would be distilled. Last time I checked, McCormick used a synthetic alcohol that wasn't grain based at all, but that could have changed. Anyway, if a McCormick product has gluten it will be clearly listed. richard
