  1. I'm not an ADA expert but since your workplace isn't required to ever provide lunch at all, I can't imagine they could be forced to provide a gluten-free lunch. If this were something they did or didn't do that kept you from working, that would be different. It's pretty thoughtless of them, but I can't imagine it's against the law. richard

    ARCHIVED Burger King

Sorry to lecture, but if you don't know whether or not something's gluten-free, you absolutely should not let your daughter have it. And you need to teach her that she needs to be sure. That said, the BK shake was probably gluten-free, but if they list just wheat, there's some chance barley malt could have been in it. richard
  3. You are one of the people it happened to work for. Great. I know people from every blood type who tried it and it didn't work at all. As far as people who say wheat, dairy etc. might be bad for all, there are others who say that, including Dr. Fine. He doesn't think ANYBODY should eat wheat. Nor does the guy who wrote Dangerous Grains. It's not unusual...
  4. Not DH. More likely psoriasis. A dermatologist would probably know just looking at it. richard
  5. I think the idea is to go online and register, not call. Anyway, I registered yesterday as I am biopsy (and blood test) diagnosed. Haven't heard anything yet. I don't know the details, but I can only assume the testing would involve eating gluten. richard
  6. There's no real scientific basis to eating right for your blood type, however, the diet does work for some for two reasons (IMO): 1. If several million people try ANY diet no matter how strange, the diet will work for a certain percentage. Those are just the odds. People have lost weight taking pills, eating grapefruit, eating tons of meat, eating no meat...
  7. I don't think this has anything to do with celiac disease. Eat small meals or snacks more often. richard

    ARCHIVED Homeopathic Doctors

It's complete bull. There's no cure or little white pill that gets rid of symptoms. richard
  9. Don't waste your time. KK doughnuts can't be replicated without gluten. richard
  10. The ones I looked at seemed fine but to be sure just call their 800 number or e-mail the customer service guy. richard
  11. I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. A sudden death like this to someone so young and so close definitely puts a lot of things in perspective. If you all can, take turns being strong. Everybody needs to grieve and everybody needs somebody to lean on. Just when you need help the most, everybody close to you needs the same support. Your brother will...
  12. Because there are so many regular foods that are naturally gluten free, you really can't get any help with buying expensive specialty foods. In fact, I'd say it's better for your health to avoid gluten-free breads and other items packed with fat and calories. richard
  13. It's corn gluten. Not a problem. richard
  14. I'd have to agree that if it says MFS and you don't know if it's gluten-free, it shouldn't be eaten. That said, yogurt is generally gluten-free. richard
  15. I hate to be discouraging, but gluten-free bread just flat-out tastes different and has a terrible texture. After four years of being gluten-free, I simply don't eat it any more. richard
  16. Overdoses of Tylenol or large doses along with heavy alcohol consumption CAN cause liver damage. Like anything else, follow directions and don't use unless you need it. High fever is a good reason. richard
  17. As I've said before though, if ALL grain is bothering anybody, it's not a gluten problem. It's something else. richard
  18. Joseph Mercola undoubtedly provides some good information but it's very hard to separate it from his bad info or the stuff that he alone believes based on essentially nothing other than his own views. If you go to his products page you'll also see he's selling some pretty dubious things and making some pretty amazing claims about some of them. Did you...
  19. There are indeed a handful of products now that say "wheat maltodextrin," although I can't remember specific ones. Generally they are made in Europe or made in the U.S. and distributed in Europe. They use wheat to avoid the chance of getting GMO corn. In the U.S., just read the ingredients. richard
  20. I gave up three years ago and now roll my sandwich meat, cheese, mayo, etc in corn tortillas or lettuce. Mostly I just eat other things. richard
  21. Smirnoff Ice is not gluten-free in the U.S. It is in Canada. Virtually all of the Smirnoff Ice type drinks and wine coolers in the U.S. have barley malt. Virtually all distilled alcohol is gluten-free. richard
  22. In the U.S. the mini Snickers ARE gluten-free. richard
  23. My DH was always in the form of blisters. richard
  24. Nestle clearly lists gluten. I think all TR candie are gluten-free. richard
  25. I've never found a peanut butter that has gluten. I'm not saying every single one in the world is gluten-free, but peanut butter is generally safe. Many prepackaged sandwich meats are gluten-free. With Oscar Meyer all you have to do is read the ingredients. Any gluten will be clearly listed. All Hillshire Farm and Carl Buddig sandwich meats are gluten...
