Hi Em!!! :D

You will love Chicago--we saw it on Broadway in the late 90's. Sounds like yer havin' a great time :)

PeOter--will you be gracing us with yer presence in Philadelphia on the 10th?

Congratulations and hail to Queen Nicola!! :D For the duration of yer reign, I must remember not to refer to you as "Nik"

Wee Boris is just adorable, by the way

Amanda--we're in the soup here, too. Not as hot, but awfully humid. We lucked out yesterday, we took a ride to Peddler's Village and although it threatened rain all day, it held off till about 8PM.

'Brown nosing' the Queen is allowed - nay - encouraged.......at ease Gaen-knitt ;)

...almost phorgot.....

Did I mention me cats are in the entertainment industry???

Here's Boris and Will singing the praises of milk (Boris in the flat cap, Will on the accordian) ;)

My what talented kitties you have Queen Nicola!!!! Did I mention that video was the most hilarious clip I have seen in months!!!

ya know, that party dress hasn't been seen since Tom was monarch

:lol: . . . Yeah Tom!!! Cough it up!!! It was a strapless number if memory serves me correctly.

Went to a festival yesterday. Saw an amatuer frisbee dog show . . . quite fun. Some were good enough to (and probably do) compete. I enjoyed when the dogs got "done" mid routine and just walked away.:lol: Also, one frisbee went outside the ring and a little girl tossed it back in. The dog fetched it and returned it back to the little girl to throw againl.

Currently painting a wicker chair. Got laundry to do, too. When should I expect you, Patti?

I just joined the local FreeCycle group . . . looking to get rid of some perfectly good items that are only worth something to the right person. I just listed the grass catcher (never used) to the lawnmower that bit the dust two years ago . . . Yeah, I just couldn't throw the bagging attachment away. It had never been used for Pete's sake!!!

Oh!!! and it's been over 20 hours and NOBODY has emailed to say they want my crap lovely grass catcher.

Hi Em!! Hope you are having a lurvely time. I would lurve to see Chicago (the musical, not the city . . . I've seen the city several times). Glad you could poop in.

Cheery holidays and vacations to all. Marched walked in the local parade yesterday with the theatre group. Unfortunately we were several entries behind the disposal entry so didn't get to see the new garbage trucks (seriously). On the up side, the biggest tow truck in the county passed our entry on the way to the line-up, so did get to see that.

Lefty is not a good bed partner. He spent the night kissing my face until I threw him out about two a.m. In gratitude for being being my only bedmate, Lyle left me half a bird wing

Em et al get a good spot for the fireworks?

I saw a clip on tv & it looked like 3 separate identical & synchronized shows - :o :o :o - it appeared that each one would have been spectacular enough on its own.

Congrats to Queen Nikki. And without trying to sound all brown-noser-ish might I add what a lovely new kitty you have.

Gian-knit makes so much look so effortless!

heck no.....he usually answers to "old fart" or "pee-dad" ( not sure where that came from)

Does it pre-date P-diddy? :D

Yeah, we were at a park listening to my DD's boyfriend's jazz band .. .

I hope he's the sax player!!

Tom, you're welcome to come to the pitch-in!!!!!!!! It's on July 12 in Carmel, IN. That's only half-way across the country :P

Cool!! Half-way's my me limit!

I must insist on a few formalities though:

It'd be me honoUr to comply!

<do I get a crown....or a sparkly tiara :unsure: ......a wand a party dress?? (sparkly)......... :blink: >

There used to be a sceptre .. . .I thought I shipped it to Jess in Dec or Jan . . ...or was it in that box I took to storage? Anyone seen a sceptre on eBay?

ya know, that party dress hasn't been seen since Tom was monarch

:lol: . . . Yeah Tom!!! Cough it up!!! It was a strapless number if memory serves me correctly.

Oh c'mon!! You know I don't have the breastage to keep that up.

(I'm not sure this was covered in "The Manly Man's 1001 uses for duct tape")

The dog fetched it and returned it back to the little girl to throw again.

Sillies have some exciting news. In 2 weeks we are heading back to the Finger Lakes to see Stone Temple Pilots and take our vacation. We didn't book our hotel yet since we were shopping around. Well I found out there is a Lighthouse you can stay in up there, and that is where we are staying plus it is cheaper than the hotels and we stay there by ourselves and I have access to the tower my entire stay there.

Its called the selkirk lighthouse. How exciting!!! Especially for someone like me who is in love with lighthouses!!!!

So go google it and check it out :):)

Mornin' PeOter and everyone :D

Please send some of that dry air south! We're drowning in humidity.....thank goodness it's not hot, the temps have been staying in the low 80's. Of course with this kind of humidity, it feels like 90 in the afternoon <_<

Morning Sillies!

Its back at work today after 4 days off....let me tell you I am draggin! Landen has been terrible all weekend, I actually refused to keep him overnite last night. His cousin has been staying downstairs for 3 weeks now. I made her take him at bedtime. For the past 3 nights, he has woke up screaming @ 3 and continues until 6-6:30, yet no one sees anything wrong with it. John and I both had to work today and if we called off we would not get paid for the 4th. Do I sound mean?

I am getting frustrated by this whole thing. He just doesn't really have rules at his house so when he gets to mine and he wants to crawl all over we don't allow it. He throws fits in the car and the store so what used to be when we got our errands done is now confining me to the house. I am thinking about only keeping him a weekend a month now.....

I probably sound selfish or horrible but come on. I know if I have a baby I will be up all night, but thats different it will be mine. This kid is almost 10 months now, and he just stopped getting a bottle overnight last month.....which is a little old for the overnight feeding. When you stop and think at 8 he gets a bowl of cereal mixed with either fruit or veggies and then another bottle.

Any advice guys?

Jestgar Rising Star

Unless you're getting paid to keep him, and you need the income, stop.

Ridgewalker Contributor

I wish I had some good advice, Amanda. I'm tearing my hair out right now, trying to make a similar decision.

My good friend, who is going through the nasty divorce, is an RN, and has been working 12 hour shifts on weekends only for years. She's now thinking of trying to get a position on another floor in the hospital that would be 8-4 on weekdays.

She's found a daycare for her daughters, ages 1 and 3, but would need someone to watch her son, age 7, during the summer and school vacations. (The bus would drop him off at her parents' after school.) He and my boys have grown up together and are great friends, and she would pay me...

But he is not the easiest child to handle. He has behavioral and focus issues, and takes medication for them during the school year... but my friend doesn't have him take his meds when he's not in school. I've tried talking to her about that, because I just don't know if that's a great idea... The meds really help him when he's on them. But this is how she wants it, at least for now.

I just don't know if I'm up for it right now. The timing stinks. :(

I've been debating with myself ever since she asked me on Friday. I need to give her an answer today. She's not pressuring me at all, and won't be upset if I say no. I want to help her, and I could REALLY use the extra money... I'm just afraid to commit to it, with the health problems I'm having right now.

Seems like I've been changing my mind every hour. Yes, I can handle it... No, it's a bad idea...

I still don't know what I'm going to tell her.

Jestgar Rising Star

Sarah, can you brief her on your health stuff, and tell her you'd like to try helping her out, but if you can't, you can't?

Ridgewalker Contributor

I think it's going to have to be something like that... I hate being wishy washy about it, as opposed to just giving her a commitment, but I really want to help her if I can!!! This girl needs a break, you know? She's been through the wringer (and still is) because of her jackass husband. <_<

I've known them both for almost ten years, and I've become so disgusted with him in the past couple years, I don't even want to talk to him anymore, EVER.

For my Vit D3 deficiency it was recommended to take with Vit K2 (MK7) with the Vit D. The Vit K2 helps absorption of Vit D3. Fat also helps with absorption. I take Micro Ingredients Vit D3 5000 IU with Vit K2 100 micrograms (as menaquinone:MK-7). Comes in soft gels with coconut oil.  Gluten free but not certified gluten free. Soy free, GMO free.

@Known1, I submitted the following comment along with my contact information: "I have noticed that many food companies voluntarily include information in their ingredient/allergen label section when the product is made in an environment where cross contamination with any of the nine major allergens recognized by the FDA may also be likely. Even though celiac disease and gluten sensitivity are, technically speaking, not allergic responses, it would seem, nonetheless, appropriate to include "gluten" in that list for the present purpose. That would insure that food companies would be consistent with including this information in labeling. Best estimates are that 1% of the general population, many undiagnosed of course, have celiac disease and more than that are gluten sensitive."

Celiac Disease causes more vitamin D deficiency than the general population because of limited UV sunlight in the winter and the little available from food is not absorbed well in the damaged small intestine.  Taking 10,000 IU a day (250 mcg) a day broke my depression. Taking it for eleven years.  Doctor recently said to not stop.  My 25(OH)D is around 200 nmol/L (80 ng/ml) but it took about six years to get there.  Increasing vitamin D also increases absorption of Calcium. A good start is 100-gram (3.5-ounce) serving of salmon,  vitamin D from 7.5 to 25 mcg (300 to 1,000 IU) but it is going to take additional vitamin D supplement to be effective.  More importantly salmon has an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio 1:10 anti-inflammatory compared to the 15:1 infammatory ratio of the typical Western diet. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.  I respectfully disagree.  You cherry picked a small section from the page.  I will do the same below: The agency is seeking information on adverse reactions due to “ingredients of interest” (i.e., non-wheat gluten containing grains (GCGs) which are rye and barley, and oats due to cross-contact with GCGs) and on labeling issues or concerns with identifying these “ingredients of interest” on packaged food products in the U.S. “People with celiac disease or gluten sensitives have had to tiptoe around food, and are often forced to guess about their food options,” said FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, M.D., M.P.H. “We encourage all stakeholders to share their experiences and data to help us develop policies that will better protect Americans and support healthy food choices.” --- end quote Anyone with celiac disease is clearly a stakeholder.  The FDA is encouraging us to share our experiences along with any data to help develop future "policies that will better protect Americans and support healthy food choices".  I see this as our chance to speak up or forever hold our peace.  Like those that do not participate in elections, they are not allowed to complain.  The way I see it, if we do not participate in this request for public comment/feedback, then we should also not complain when we get ill from something labeled gluten-free. Have a blessed day ahead, Known1
