Digestive/urinary Problems

Hi everyone, I have a few questions. Been sick for two years now. It started with unexplained weight loss, poor digestion, lots of abdominal gurgling. I also noticed at that time that my urine was more concentrated. It has not been colourless since. My appetite became poor and has remained so. I've had all sorts of blood tests, scans, egd endoscope which was negative for celiac. I have pain under my bottom left rib and down my flank. Stools have gone from constipated two years back to mushy. The urine thing is the weirdest thing. So do any of you with celiac disease have that? Also have tinnitus 24/7.

Any help warmly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you begin taking any vitamins?  Vitamin B colors the urine more yellow.  I know this from personal experience and speaking with a doctor about it.  Have you been tested for celiac?  There are over 300 symptoms and some of yours may be a fit.

Welcome!

It sounds very much like celiacs.  How much water do you drink daily?

I used to have constant tinnitus, constant pains in my bottom abdominal left side, problems with urination (feeling of always having to pee... for years).

The tests can show as negative even though they are positive, but after going through so many tests I am a bit uncertain how to approach it.

In my opinion check:

SCDLifestyle site
Gluten Summit

Thyroid Sessions

These guys have some knowledge and I know for a fact they have talked about which tests to take and which not to take, because they are expensive and some yield better results and have a higher score to find celiacs.

If you ever need someone to talk to about this feel free to contact me. Like so many other on this forum I've gone through this for closer to 15 years and I know the pains... It helps to talk about it and get it out of your mind.

Good luck my friend.

Hi Francis and Welcome to the Forum.

I just wanted to comment on urine color.  It would be very UNusual for it to be colorless.  Many things will affect the color of urine.  You will also find that the more water you drink the lighter in color it will be.   Foods will also affect the color of urine.  Have you ever eaten asparagus?  Yes, it turns a light shade of green.  I would also caution you about getting information from sources that are also selling their products.

Good luck to you.

Thank you all so much for the replies and the warm welcomes.

To be clear on the urine thing....old normal for first 45 years pee sometimesyellow and concentrated....sometimes more dilute and much clearer. It matters not how hydrated I am. It sounds weird until it happens to you, then it's scary. It's not down to vits, food or water. The thyroid idea is interesting as I've been packing on weight of late despite poor appetite. Tests always normal tho....tsh and frees in top quartile.

Keep it coming folks. Frank

To add....the pee is now concentrated all the time no matter how hydrated I am. I can't find much on celiac and if it affects the kidneys like this....

I have not seen other people complain about too concentrated of urine with relation to celiac disease before. My guess is that you are dehydrated, but it could be a medical condition causing that or just not enough water.  If you are concerned, you should see your doctor - kidney problems are not something to ignore.

Dee,

I've been trying to find a list of the 300 symptoms, but can't get more than the obvious, standard ten or so list.

Can you tell me where to get the list?

Thanks,

I didn't actually count them but they claim 300:

I think I found a huge culprit for severe reactions to create worsening of my c symptoms. Do people with celiac have sensitivity and /or have opposite reaction to certain medications Where can I find a list ?  I'm new here I'm.wondering why I am getting worse when I take certain medicine...the burning feet.  Rebound muscle pain so intense  How many people get opposite effects or have a horrible attack after these meds

Does anyone know if that includes scrambled eggs and healthy smart butter (,gluten free) I add a very tiny amount of margarine less than a teaspoon.  I did no't have any bread    It just seems like no matter what I eat my stomach and nerves over fire and here comes a host of horrible symptoms. My lower abdomen feels horrible, my right leg thigh muscle.. very odd. Jaw pain. Burning feet , joint pain , you name it  The anxiety just creeps up into brain fog. I don't think I could explain this to anyone who is unfamiliar.  Also,  I most likely will not remember posting this until I check it.  This is highly unusual for me because I have an excellent memory.  One weekend before I knew anything about celiac I lost an entire weekend from severe brain fog, confusion, pain, etc.  I honestly thought I was losing my mind. When I think back I recall eating a lot of PBJ sandwiches and turkey sandwiches.  Once again did not know about gluten.  I was just too sick to cook. Do people fast during attacks ?? It seems horrible to keep going through this. I hope I'm not causing my own problems... I wonder if I should fast because I'm not eating gluten .  Chicken ,  scrambled eggs no milk , canned carrots,  gluten free low sugar low fat Greek yogurt which I already posted about 😞 Any suggestions I am open... I am bedridden when this happens to me.  Thank you Celiac community. 🙏🏻❤️

Yeah, that sounds super familiar. When inflammation levels are high — especially at the start of changing your diet — the body often develops a fructose and lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helps is cutting out anything that isn’t lactose-free or that contains sugar. So basically, stick to meat, veggies, fish…

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you
