Frozen Pie Shell!

so, i'm moseying along in the kroger, always snooping in the 'freak' frozen section (lolz) and what do i see??

 

gluten-free frozen pie shells!!  just in time for thanksgiving!!  W00T!  they are 'wholly wholesome' brand and come 2 to a package (i guess you can 'unmold' the 2nd one to make a 2 crust pie)  but perfect for punkin pie.  and they are basically allergy free  <even corn!)  so, to make the holidays a little less hectic, hopefully they don't taste like cardboard!  (shoot, they're even kosher, wow - they've got all their bases covered lolz)

 

i'm gonna give them a try sometime this week :)

They are pretty good, IMO. A bit brittle, so be careful when maneuvering!

whole foods has gluten-free pie shells....also Midel has a gluten-free chocolate , graham shells..

Last year I used Gluten Free Nation pie shells (Houston based bakery that sells in groceries around here) and they turned out well for my pumpkin and pecan pies.  This year I really want to do a lattice top apple pie for Thanksgiving so I just tested out this crust recipe: Open Original Shared Link and it works fabulously.  The dough handles well, and the best thing about gluten-free pie dough is you don't have to worry about overworking it.  Really was my first time ever making pie crust from scratch.  Definitely going to do that this year for the holidays since it will cost a lot less than buying all those other pie shells.

Oooh, kosher! I have to watch out for lard in pie shells, so thanks for the heads up. I'll look for it if we ever get over to Kroger's.

Sounds good! I'm not vegan, but my diet is similar enough to that (ovo vegetarian) that I end up eating lots of stuff marketed to vegans. :)

I've tried the wholly wholesome pie crusts and thought they were delicious!  I just bought another package for the Thanksgiving pumpkin pie next week.

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets...

      M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values. Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup. I use them as a gluten free substitute...

      I see it everyday on my feeds. They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts. I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field. Some days I would just like to scream. So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach...

Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
