Nutrition: Vegan, celiac, FODMAP meal plan

hello,

Hope you are all well,

My doctor just told me I need to go on a low fodmap diet for a good while and then introduce foods slowly.

I am vegan celiac and feel like I really need a meal plan at this point. I hear it is really good to rotate your food too. Does anyone have a great link to a video, book, site, app or a wonderful nutritionist who can consult by phone ? I am learning a ton on my own, but if there is a great deal of this info already in one place, that would be great. I am entering a bit of a busy period going back to work, but my health needs to be my number one priority. So if someone here has good ideas, that would be grand.

thanks a ton!

Hi!  I follow the Autoimmune Protocol diet which helps intestinal healing better than  the fodmap diet.

Hey Knitty kitty.

Thanks!

In going through your links and the comments, I found an excellent podcast about fermentation. I loved it ! Also it appears that there is a chapter in the Wahls protocol book that deals with veg diets. I will check that out

I have tried to eat fish/seafood in the past and it changed nothing. (Although I didn’t know I had celiac disease). I was already iron deficient when I ate meat as a child and have no other vitamin deficiencies. Your link had very good info on omegas!

I may have found a DR who specialises in micro nutrition and celiac disease. I hope he can see me!

I am excited to learn, but sometimes I feel like my brain just shits down and I need help with all this. Good to keep an open mind as you say.

Have a great day.

Any vegan celiac fodmappers out there ?

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.

I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers. Some of the herpes viruses are implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases: Epstein-Barr virus is suspected of triggering multiple sclerosis and lupus, and there is a case where it is suspected of triggering coeliac disease. As to whether coeliac disease can increase the likelihood of viral reactivation, there have been several cohort studies including a large one in Sweden suggesting that coeliac disease is associated with a moderate increase in the likelihood of developing shingles in people over the age of 50. US 2024 - Increased Risk of Herpes Zoster Infection in Patients with Celiac Disease 50 Years Old and Older Sweden 2018 - Increased risk of herpes zoster in patients with coeliac disease - nationwide cohort study
