Ashley -

Hey! You responded to my other e-mail about looking for a doctor to treat my Celiac. I wanted to let you know I contacted Ernest about the support group in Boone and he said none was ever set up. I haven't called the lady for Winston yet, I'm going to do that today. Do you mind if I ask your age? I was told that Dr. Ivor Hill at Bowman Gray in Winston is a pediatric gastroenterologist who is knowledgable in Celiac. You can call 336-716-3009 for him. If you are too old for a pediatric GI (I don't know what age he treats up to), you could maybe ask for a referral. I am seeing Dr. John Sweeney with Wake Forest Baptist Digestive Health Services. He does not seem to specialize in Celiac, but he is a GI. I, myself, am looking for a regular PCP who is knowledgeable with Celiac. Good luck and let me know what you find out. Perhaps we can both get in with the Winston support group! Talk to you later

We have an active support group here in Winston-Salem, NC. We are affiliated with the Gluten Intolerance Group.

Our next function is this Sat. We are participating at a Health Fair from 9-3pm at Doug Brendles Natural Health Superstore. We will have members of our group there to help people find the many gluten-free products the store carries.

Here are 2 contact names and numbers:

Grace Johnston 336-924-5572

Martha Russell 336-924-5572

If you want more information, please contact us.

Hi Melissa - I'm in Durham also. As far as I know, the Triangle group is fairly inactive and has only met once or twice in the past year. I can give you the email address I used to get on the mailing list, although you probably already have that.

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!
    • Scott Adams
That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.
    • Redanafs
Same day which is strange to me.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
