I have a hard time accepting that passing G 10-20x's a day is normal. What is normal? Are most of these normal people undiagnosed celiacs? :P Yikes!

Don't know the "norm" for passing gas! :P My grandmother (who just turned 100) has always used the motto "more room out than in" . . . fortunately, that sentiment has not passed down the family tree!

"Walter, the farting dog" sounds as if it is similar to the books "Everyone poops" "Everyone passes gas", etc. I still like the Walter book title better. We call our dog "Count Flatula"

:lol: My husband always says--"if ya can't pay the rent, ya gotta get out" or the ever popular--"catch that and paint it green". Classy <_<

One I've heard is "better to fart and bear the shame than not to fart and bear the pain!" haha

The thing that finally made me realize I wasn't normal was I heard the average person passes gas 10 times a day! HELL I do that in less than an hour! :o

And the average person's gas paassing doesn't smell like a sulfur bed.

There's a sulfur bed in Lassen National Park called "Bumpass Hell" and the joke for awhile is that my farts smelled like that. Pee- ewwwww!

An awful lot of undiagnosed celiacs out there. Now that I am gluten-free I have gone from having constant gas and rumbling tummy to almost never having gas, drinking soda is the only offending culprit now. And I eat lots of beans, broccoli and brussel sprouts! Somehow they don't produce gas if not mixed with GLUTEN.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
