WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO EAT!!!!! JEEZ! I don't think I could do that if I wanted to. I'm a total carnivore and cheese hound.

I am a total carnivore too...love my meat...I think just reducing the overall load is what counts, so I'll do it in the other areas mostly.

Just popping in really quick, will have to come back and read to catch up....

An important tip about steaming the tortillas, do not let the water boil up into the steamer basket! That would be very bad, you will end up with a pile of mushy gooey ground corn. You want the water below the bottom of the steamer basket and as it boils let the steam come up through the little holes. Hopefully that makes sense?

Susan, they aren't very expensive (I don't think). I have a metal one, not sure what material, and it adjusts to fit different pan sizes. like an unfolding flower looking thing, hard to describe, bt it comes in handy. I steam vegetables with it, and tamales, and now the corn tortillas.

Rinne, beautiful picture!!!

I must confess I have not followed the thread about Megan, I haven't had much time to stray from here. I will have to read what is going on. She will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Karen, looks like you are the trouble maker in Rachelville  We have all thought about you and your "D", I wish somebody could find you a solution.

Be back later!

Rinne,

It's so good to finally see you. :P

Jeny,

I don't know about your situation with the different computers.

Karen,

Did you see the post about gliadin foods that someone posted earlier.

What's the thing with altoids? Aren't they a breath freshener? I've noticed on other threads that you are the altoids lady.

Susan,

How are you doing today. What does TMI mean anyway?

Rachel,

Have fun today.

Cissie,

Hope you feel better real soon.

Julie,

I'll keep that in mind....steaming corn tortillas.

Donna,

You've been doing lots of research lately. Did the plums settle well with you?

Patti,

Sounds like you are feeling good too.

Cecile,

For when you get a chance to get on here. Hope you're feeling good today.

Robbin,

Are you there? I forget whether you posted earlier today or not. Are you feeling better today?

Vincent, Ryan, Picard,

I trust all is well with our "fellow" residents.

All the other gals I missed, hello.

Debbie,

Can we add you to the list of jobs for Rachelville?

Cissie

Me too Cssie, wonder if we ate the same thing? Burning stomach, maybe the charcoal caps will help!! B) hope so. :) evie

Yes, it was a little slow at work today, so when there's no work I can play. Well, I think the warning from Penguin was kind of applicable (reminding me of the prune affect, lol)...but that was okay because I'd had C for a couple of days.

Come on Karen, explain all about altoids! :P:P:P <this little guy knows.

wait....R-ville is perfect, so we don't need counselors, right?? Karen's job can be the Altoids Sales Rep and Dispenser of Good Times.....but she won't have to sell them, just give them out freely, you know, at the parades and all, and the dances at the Town Square.....good times!

We have something in common--My baby sister is 8 years younger than I am. I always took care of her when we were kids, I took her everywhere with me! We have always been very close. I have another sister who is 4 years younger. We also fought a lot when we were kids, and only now, in the last 2 years or so are we finally getting to be close.

Patti, yes it is great to have sisters, I feel very fortunate to have them. :)

Andrea, what an adorable picture of your children, the littlest one looks like he might be a little mischievious. :)

Cissie, I hope you are feeling better.

Thank you for the compliments, it's nice to be seen. :)

Oh and I don't get the Altoids thing either, does this mean I have to go to Google to find out? You mean I have to leave Rachelville?

Welcome to the forum, @Mmoc! Please include the reference ranges for the IGA and the TTG tests in your next post if you have access to them. We cannot comment much otherwise as different labs use different reference ranges for these tests and also different units of measurement. There are no universal standards as of yet so the raw test numbers are not always helpful. Having said that, if your IGA (what we usually call "total IGA") is low, the TTG-IGA score will be skewed and cannot be trusted. Other kinds of tests for celiac disease would need to be run, particularly those in the IGG family of tests. Perhaps this will be helpful:

Hi there any advice welcomed. I have had 4 years of symptoms ranging from immune related anaphylactic symptom sudden onset food allergy to peppers/paprika/chilli/capsicum family derivatives. all these allergies fizzled out and following a food challenge test in hospital I reintroduced them a few months ago. Since then my digestive system is a mess. i have since noticed that 4 years ago when testing for iga allergies my iga level was .62 and my ttg was less than .1 (due to symptoms I was probably eating very plainly at that time). should I insist on being retested for celiac? I’ve since read two indicators for celiac include: sensitive to spicy foods when in flare up tooth enamel weakness and symmetrical discolouration patches on teeth which I have had since childhood on my two front teeth     thanks

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
