Ahhhhh........ a hockey girl..... YEAH!!!!

You would fit in well up here in Canada!!!

More like a hockey-man girl :lol::lol:

It's relatively new to my state, but I really do like it. We got the Avalanche and were spoiled with Stanley Cups right at the get-go.

OMG, I forgot to address something I read yesterday. Rachel asked who Amber Frey was. NO! Are you joking Rachel? She who reads the tabloid covers everyday as she walks by and as she checks out all of the customer's groceries??? I am thinking you were joking, but if you don't know I am surprised given you live in Cali and it was all over the news for years.

ROFLMAO

My mom fell for this too!

She said how could you not know who Amber Frey is ....you followed that whole case...bought all the magazines!

I'm telling ya...its brainfog to the max!

Yeah...I live about 10 minutes from Modesto too. :P

Julie,

My doc is looking into this for me. Not for Claritin though...another antihistamine...I think Zyrtec?? Is that an antihistamine? I dunno...it started with a Z though. Shes gonna ask about that or ANY antihistimine that can be compounded. She said the Ketotifen is mainly for the gut and asthma...not the same as these other antihistimines.

Ooooh, let me know when you find out Rachel . Very interested in this.

I am so jealous!

We long-suffering Maple Leaf fans hope to see the Cup come back to Toronto at least once before we die! Now that Pat Quinn is gone, hopefully we will have a chance this year - except that my heart was broken when the Leafs let go of Tie Domi. OMG, that man bleeds Blue and White! Never seen a guy with so much heart for a city and for the game. I LOVE THAT MAN! Hopefully, he will be accomodated somewhere else in the organization, he certainly has earned it!

Welcome Dave. :D

I have the application that our esteemed president has put together. To be a permanent member of Rachelville, it is only 3 questions.

Are you gluten free?

Do you promise to never infiltrate Rachelville with gluteney foods?

Do you promise to never bring gigantic Auxigro ridden produce into R-Ville?

OK...Thats about it.

If you answered yes to all of the above....the job is yours. :D

Am I gluten free....well I don't have to be, and I'm sure we can all agree if we don't have to be, we won't be!

Yes I won't infiltrate any good foods to you guys...I'll eat paper and other paper tasting goods while I'm in R'Ville.

auxigro huh? no gigantic produce here....

Andrea, you must add "Mother Hen" to your job description :)

Hi Bev, good to see you! Of course your husband can join us. He can go over the hill to the mall with Rachel and Mango and the others, where there just might be a KFC. So sorry you have not been feeling well, you have had a rough time of it the last several months. Have you had a check up? Hope you getting lots of rest and taking good care of yourself.

Susie Q!!! Good morning to you and the dingo girls. I also was impressed with Celia's scince posts, very scientificness of her.

Dave could be our town hottie

I like you already....I can tell you're the smart one ;)

Welcome Dave - Village Idiot, I don't know about that, it seems to me you have to be quite brilliant just to appreciate the job.

Exactly :D

I now have 25 new bracelets and one more just waiting to be strung.:lol:

Well, welcome anyway TheDave, Rachel's friend-but-not-boss (stealing from Penguin cuz I liked it too much, lol).

Thanks!

Glad to see the post of village idiot has been filled by Rachel's not boss/friend Dave

Welcome aboard Dave!!

Of course....I would do nothing else but hold down the fort as the idiot!

Rachel, do tell us about our village idiot-Is he qualified enough for the job? He looks pretty cute, though. I suspect he is lying on his application and is not really a qualified idiot, lol.

I am so qualified...just lemme hang around a bit and I'm sure I can convince you of my idiocy! ;)

LMAO...

The celebrex is helping a little bit with the jaw pain and swelling.

But I still have the thick stick mucus in my throat.

I really believe there is a connection between the TMJ teeth and the food sensitivites that I have.

I dont have celiac, but eating gluten definately makes it worse.

A whole host of foods make it worse. But some way more than others. Ya know.

I dont grind my teeth as far as I know, Ive had someone watch me sleeping , and they said I sleep with my mouth open, and I dont grind.

In response to someone's post, I really appretiate your adivce and sharing your experiences, thats what I like to hear most, is other peoples experiences. For me, I dont think the TMJ is realted to psychological factors, bruxism or a misaligned bite, I had braces as a kid and a retainer, my bite is perfecto. The inflammation sets up the pain, and the nerves and muscles in my jaw and puzzling enough its concentrated mostly there and in my neck and somtimes wrists. Its arthritis, in a sense, not rhumatoid, ive been tested for that, it could be something more vague like a systemic autoimmune thing going on in my body. Thats why no doctors have been able to figure it out.

What seems to help,, a little bit, is diet change. or Food avoidance. Still gotta find a good doc. Im trying, Im trying.

I am still baffled as what to eat, but thats somthing I have to figure out on my own, I know that sugary foods make me feel a lot worse, and gluten dairy, sulfites etc. chemicals and perfumes.

But the jaw pain and puffiness, how is it related? its so complex.

I am afaraid to get the root cannals done because of the cost! ive already spent $2,380 cash it will be another $4,000 dollars to get the teeth fixed.

On the positive side, The porcline crown doesnt seem to be bothering me, he did a nice job.

I love but hate being so sensitive!

HI Christine,

Sorry you're not feeling well, but, I'm a little confused....it seems that your main complaint is the jaw/tooth pain, buuuut....you're not Celiac and not eating gluten-free....is your goal to eliminate all gluten? Just wondering if we're the ones to best help you...good luck!

Susan, I open another window and then post to it, going back and forth between the two but I see the Village Idiot (obviously slipping up on the idiocy part :lol::lol: ) just gave us a brilliant solution.

I think I need a chocolate intervention. :( I don't have the full range of histamine reactions but I definitely notice an agitation and I sneeze. I realize that I have fueled myself on stimulants, histamines included, for years. It is no wonder I feel bad with or without them these days. :( This thread makes such a difference, I was thinking today I would never have thought about so many aspects of being Celiac without all of you. Thanks. :)

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
