OMG my mom was just here and two highly astute artist friends - I had decided their answers were the FINAL ANSWER. And gues what - - - - :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: they went CRAZY over the paint color, said it was the richest, deep cream, like creamy milk (sorry - dairy reference :ph34r: ) with a bit of coffee - - NOT FLESH TONE - - said I'd be lunatic to paint it again - - - in fact FORBADE me to paint it - -

YAY!!!! :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: sometimes you just need other eyes to look at something.....

so...."once more into the breach," dear friends......moving on to other rooms to paint...carpets to rip up.....

I am SO Relieved!!!! :P

Ah well, not so flesh colored after all. Very smart to get a second opinion B)

Had to change the pic again ... Adam took this one last night at Maggianos, the other one had been taken at Christmas. There was a great pic of Morgan and I making fish lips that I was going to use, but Adam didn't email it to me.

Morgan, they're not telling you the truth, your hair is ugly, just like I've told you every day ... (I'm so jealous of her hair and the fact that that's how it looks air dried!!!)

Vincent--Glad that your situation is stable. Continue to take good care of yourself and stay on top of this thing. Is it ok with your doctor to run? If it's still hot down there, don't stay out too long. :)

No way am I going ut side! Its tripple digits! I can not take it much over 80 realy. This running is on my tread mill till fall.

Vincent--One other thing. Have you tried New Balance? My son has problems with his feet, and those are what the podiatrist recommended. They come in many sizes and widths :)

Yes they do, and I used to wear them when running track in HS. LAst store I went to I tired EVERY pair they had in my size range... no go! :(

Hiya Andrea!!! Beautiful picture!!! I have that one already ;):) How are all your little rug rats today? Hope everything is going well with your new lessons! (Did you start teaching or are you just getting ready?)

Don't start until the 4th of September I think.....just trying to get ready. Then I'll really be going through thread withdrawal. I'll be on here as much as possible once school starts but I'll probably be spending most my time keeping up like a lot of you. :D

I have my own OMG revelation that I noted on a different thread.

I have had knee to ankle pains for the last 6 years. I just noticed a week or so ago that they are finally gone. I have a sneaky suspicion that the gluten and/or soy was the culprit. I had always figured it was a nerve or something from my first pregnancy that never got back to normal. Sure glad that it was just food related. :P

Mitch was talking to another driver while he was waiting up north last night. She had said that HSP causes problems with the liver, everything I've read online has said the kidneys. Wonder if it could be both. I don't know if I should ask the doctor tomorrow or not. He doesn't think Talitha will have any problems. I will be real curious to see what happens with the first cold this season. It supposed to come back, but not as bad then. I wonder if the severity could have something to do with gluten. After all, rheumatoid arthritis and abdominal pain are also part of gluten intolerance.

EDIT: The fellow driver is also familiar with celiac/gluten intolerance and the probelms with soy. He was quite surprised about that. She normally hauls bees and honey for one of the owners of the business who has a berry and honey business also. They must of needed an extra driver for the main business which is primarily lumber.

Andrea, I always had bad joint pain in my knee, mainly my left knee, my wrist, and my thumbs. It's pretty much gone now that I'm gluten-free, but I noticed it bugging me again a little, not nearly as bad as before. I had been taking glucosimine, chondroitin, and msm, but ran out a month ago, guess I need more.

Now, off to find the kids under the crib. That has become there favorite thing to do when Seth wakes up. My daughter gets him (since he's next to my side of the bed) and takes him underneath to hide. :P

Don't worry, come into the Rachelville salon and I'm sure we could fix it in some way :rolleyes: . A little trimming... and maybe even a little bow on top to finish it up :D .

No!! Leave them there for at least ten minutes while you enjoy a tea and some social time with your buddies!! Then tell your kids how well they hid! You get some quiet time, they get to think you can't find them! It's a win-win situation!! :lol: Yell out once in a while, where are you? :rolleyes:

I think I gave them 5 while I was on here. Talitha took Seth into the closet this time. Good thing he's not afraid of the dark.....yet. :P

      Welcome to the celic.com community @Dizzyma! I'm assuming you are in the U.K. since you speak of your daughter's celiac disease blood tests as "her bloods". Has her physician officially diagnosed her has having celiac disease on the results of her blood tests alone? Normally, if the ttg-iga blood test results are positive, a follow-up endoscopy...

I reached out to them to ask what protocols/standards/testing they have in place. The person that wrote back said that they are now certifying their gluten free status in-house, but that she couldn't answer my questions related to standards because the person with that info was on vacation. Not very impressed, especially since it still says on their website that they are GFCO-certified. Buyer beware!

But one thing I would like to say to you, no matter where you live, is you mention that your daughter is anxious.  I was always a bit of a nervous, anxious child but before my diagnosis in mid-life my anxiety levels were through the roof.   My anxiety got steadily better when I followed the gluten-free diet and vitamin and mineral deficiencies were addressed.  Anxiety is very common at diagnosis, you may well find that her anxiety will improve once your daughter follows a strict gluten-free diet. Normally, if the ttg-iga blood test results are positive, a follow-up endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining to check for damage would be ordered to confirm the results of "the bloods". However if the ttg-iga test score is 10x normal or greater, some physicians, particularly in the U.K., will dispense with the endoscopy/biopsy. If there is to be an endoscopy/biopsy, your daughter should not yet begin the gluten free diet as doing so would allow healing of the small bowel lining to commence which may result in a biopsy finding having results that conflict with the blood work. Do you know if an endoscopy/biopsy is planned? Celiac disease can have onset at any stage of life, from infancy to old age. It has a genetic base but the genes remain dormant until and unless triggered by some stress event. The stress event can be many things but it is often a viral infection. About 40% of the general population have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. So, for most, the genes remain dormant.  Celiac disease is by nature an autoimmune disorder. That is to say, gluten ingestion triggers an immune response that causes the body to attack its own tissues. In this case, the attack happens in he lining of the small bowel, at least classically, though we now know there are other body systems that can sometimes be affected. So, for a person with celiac disease, when they ingest gluten, the body sends attacking cells to battle the gluten which causes inflammation as the gluten is being absorbed into the cells that make up the lining of the small bowel. This causes damage to the cells and over time, wears them down. This lining is composed of billions of tiny finger-like projections and which creates a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients from the food we eat. This area of the intestinal track is where all of our nutrition is absorbed. As these finger-like projections get worn down by the constant inflammation from continued gluten consumption before diagnosis (or after diagnosis in the case of those who are noncompliant) the efficiency of nutrient absorption from what we eat can be drastically reduced. This is why iron deficiency anemia and other nutrient deficiency related medical problems are so common in the celiac population. So, to answer your question about the wisdom of allowing your daughter to consume gluten on a limited basis to retain some tolerance to it, that would not be a sound approach because it would prevent healing of the lining of her small bowel. It would keep the fires of inflammation smoldering. The only wise course is strict adherence to a gluten free diet, once all tests to confirm celiac disease are complete.

We have started her  on a full gluten free diet. my concerns are that she wasn’t actually physically sick on her regular diet, she had tummy issues and skin sores. My fear is that she will build up a complete intolerance to gluten and become physically sick if she has gluten. Is there anything to be said for keeping a small bit of gluten in the diet to stop her from developing a total intolerance?  also, she would be an anxious type of person, is it possible that stress is the reason she has become coeliac? I read that diagnosis later in childhood could be following a sickness or stress. How can she have been fine for the first 10 years and then become coeliac? sorry, I’m just very confused and really want to do right by her. I know a coeliac and she has a terrible time after she gets gluttened so just want to make sure going down a total gluten free road is the right choice. thank you for any help or advise xx
