IIII'mmmmmmmm baaacccckkkkk. :P

I think I slated the 4th for start date. I'm going to log everything but by law she doesn't have to start til next year. 8 is the required start by date here. I don't remember if they evaluate every year but they do require the standardized tests. I'll have to find that website again. I copied over state laws before computer crash so I'll see if those documents list the website.

Congrats for your son.

Have a fun and safe trip. We'll miss you and look forward to your trip update when you get back...unless you can crash in here before that. :D

Didn't you see it earlier? I will be sure to add presidentness. What happened to her presidentness's post. She was writing about 1 1/2 - 2 hours ago and nothing's here.

Peach is good. How 'bout navy blue for the ribbon....then you'd have our wedding colors. Mitch always refers to them and peaches and blueberries. Baby alert....he got the cardboard cover that was blocking the front of the computer. It has a pretty green light that little fingers like to touch.

Where is everyone?

Cecile,

You asked, I delivered. :P

Hi Meredith.

I came back....I was trying to clean up my mailbox so it won't overflow and send back rejects.

When do you start your job again? Have you done much sightseeing outside of the main town?

OK Rachel, What time does he get off so I can be on Mother Hen patrol. I'll expect a report during your lunch so you can check the schedule.

:lol::lol::lol:

I get off....hmm, whenever I please....benefits of being the Boss....haha! j/k And I'm not on the schedule

 Not surprised about that! We have been quite gabby lately.

Ok ....no need to call the OBGYN yesterday...she called me while I was at work. Couldnt pick up the phone since I was busy at the time. Her message said "Nothing to worry about. Nothings changed...can you call me back tomorrow at my office tomorrow." That was all it said...I'm thinking this means the cysts are still there??? Not really sure exactly what she meant by nothings changed. I'm assuming its the cysts though....either that or the alien baby is still wreaking havoc and they couldnt see anything?? If that was the case though I think they'd have said something that day....but on that day the tech seemed as if all was normal. Nothing like what was on the OB's face when my intestines were dancing all over the place.

Will find out today.....my plan is to still to get them removed if they are still there.

She purposely had the ultrasound done right after my period (sorry guys) so if the cysts are still there obviously they are not dissolving like they should.

Celia.....what if you were right along and the cysts are causing these crazy sensitivities???? Good googly moogly.

Rach...call me later...we have things to discuss (alien baby's and dancing intestines...??? WTF? haha!)

Good googly moogly!!! I finaly get caught up and now I am late for my heart test!

Nous devons parler l'anglais ici.

Heart test??? Good Luck!

well donna I offered to be the official town weight taker- I'll take any extra weight anyone wants to get rid of - but andrea never made it official on the list

I have some weight you can take.....you and Rachel could split it actually...any other takers? B)

I speak Spanish ... don't get the French.

I see you Morganb!!

Score one for the Spanish speakers....ding!

So, are you or are you not her boss?? I'm confused ...

Hmm...how to word it.... I am the Boss, but definitely not her Boss..... make sense?? haha! ;)

Humour, madness, lots of kooks (yes, the Canadians are adding some kind of crazy Canuck influence :P ), plus pandas and dingos and geese, oh my....but not only the madness, we talk about everything! our poop, periods  , glutenings, myriad food issues, home decor, dating, our cult-town paradise, scrunchies and bracelets, Nuggets and Bumbles (we talk about chocolate a lot here), straightjackets and altoids, on and on....and Rachel will blind you with SCIENCE!!

Ok, I definitely have not talked about my poop or period yet...thank you very much!

:lol::lol::lol:

yay Donna!

OMG I just did multiple quotes that I learned from our shirtless Idiot......

hold me, am SO Excited.....

I think we can't cross reference job titles.... shirtless construction worker OR village idiot....not shirtless idiot or contruction village (sounds kinda like the village people to me....hehe)

Dave wouldn't get mad would he.....we might run him out of town if he does. (Emoticon, what I call the Raspberry smile)

Uuuummmmm, Dave is no longer the shirtless idiot. He's got to follow Rachelville rules also.

I just did multiple quotes too. Thanks Dave!

Emoticon edit....too many.

I might get mad....especially if she was late because she got in an accident...dumb@ss.

And I only follow select rules!

And it's no problem about the multiple quotes...I figure if ladies can give us things in multiples....I can give back multiple quotes....

Momma hen's gone, time to get in trouble! Where's Karen? Dave?:lol: Full moon, Karen's in a straight jacket, forgot.

I don't have a jacket yet!

Don't know Rachel. Maybe the Dave can help.

Most likely....

Rach, for some reason it looks like you/someone entered <quote></quote> around each quote...when in actuality...it has a bit more information that that....like <quote name ='AndreaB' date='Aug 9 2006, 06:03 PM' post='183417'>

I dunno....I would try again....or just leave it...it's only one post darlin'

Yeah...I got in an accident today. :(

Had to call Dave to explain why I couldnt return on time. :(

Dave was gonna come to "the scene" and help me out. I'm not so good at this since I usually dont crash into other cars (just other people who attempt to walk near me) . :P

Dave's kind of an expert on this....he's had lots of experience. :P

In the end....I handled it...but do appreciate his offer to assist me. I'm not ususally a damsel in distress but today I kinda was. :(

Ummmm...does anyone recall my post during my lunch this afternoon...the one where I revealed that I had just eaten the whole batch of ice cream????

Well...right after I consumed it I got into my car and immediately proceeded to crash into another car. Didnt get very far as I was only backing out of my parking spot.

Do you think there is some connection here???

I think I am gonna go to bed early tonight. Its been kind of a traumatic day for me so best to just end it early. Plus I neeeed sleep...the OMG epic novel has kept me up late every night....trying to catch up. I'm all caught up now. :D

Good night Rachelvillians. :)

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

In fact, there is scientific proof that ALL gluten-free ice cream enhances driving ability. haagen Daaz had the highest results in government crash tests. :P:P:P:P:P

Night all... must crawl back into padded room.

Night Rachel.

Maybe we need to create Ice Creamaholic's Anonymous for you.

Hope you get a good, peaceful night's sleep.

I HAVE to read this thread several times a day or I am absolutely lost. That is why you saw me lurking. Today has not been a good one for me and have slept most of the day and am still in my PJ's. Tomorrow will be a better day as they usually are when I have a lousy one. That was certainly a convoluted sentence. So, I am finishing scanning the forum and off to bed (again), but hopefully for most of the night.

Night all to the East Coasters.

Armetta,

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Good night.

I've been buying my seeds and nuts from Prana Organics for a number of years because the products have been GFCO-certified. I just got a new order delivered of their flax and sunflower seeds, and it turns out that they are no longer GFCO-certified. Instead, it just has a generic "Gluten Free" symbol on the package. I reached out to them to ask what protocols/standards/testing they have in place. The person that wrote back said that they are now certifying their gluten free status in-house, but that she couldn't answer my questions related to standards because the person with that info was on vacation. Not very impressed, especially since it still says on their website that they are GFCO-certified. Buyer beware!

Hi @Dizzyma I note what @trents has commented about you possibly posting from the UK.  Just to let you know that am a coeliac based in the UK, so if that is the case, do let me know if can help you with any questions on the NHS provision for coeliacs.    If you are indeed based in the UK, and coeliac disease is confirmed, I would thoroughly recommend you join Coeliac UK, as they provide a printed food and drink guide and also a phone app which you can take shopping with you so you can find out if a product is gluten free or not. But one thing I would like to say to you, no matter where you live, is you mention that your daughter is anxious.  I was always a bit of a nervous, anxious child but before my diagnosis in mid-life my anxiety levels were through the roof.   My anxiety got steadily better when I followed the gluten-free diet and vitamin and mineral deficiencies were addressed.  Anxiety is very common at diagnosis, you may well find that her anxiety will improve once your daughter follows a strict gluten-free diet. Cristiana

Welcome to the celic.com community @Dizzyma! I'm assuming you are in the U.K. since you speak of your daughter's celiac disease blood tests as "her bloods".  Has her physician officially diagnosed her has having celiac disease on the results of her blood tests alone? Normally, if the ttg-iga blood test results are positive, a follow-up endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining to check for damage would be ordered to confirm the results of "the bloods". However if the ttg-iga test score is 10x normal or greater, some physicians, particularly in the U.K., will dispense with the endoscopy/biopsy. If there is to be an endoscopy/biopsy, your daughter should not yet begin the gluten free diet as doing so would allow healing of the small bowel lining to commence which may result in a biopsy finding having results that conflict with the blood work. Do you know if an endoscopy/biopsy is planned? Celiac disease can have onset at any stage of life, from infancy to old age. It has a genetic base but the genes remain dormant until and unless triggered by some stress event. The stress event can be many things but it is often a viral infection. About 40% of the general population have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. So, for most, the genes remain dormant.  Celiac disease is by nature an autoimmune disorder. That is to say, gluten ingestion triggers an immune response that causes the body to attack its own tissues. In this case, the attack happens in he lining of the small bowel, at least classically, though we now know there are other body systems that can sometimes be affected. So, for a person with celiac disease, when they ingest gluten, the body sends attacking cells to battle the gluten which causes inflammation as the gluten is being absorbed into the cells that make up the lining of the small bowel. This causes damage to the cells and over time, wears them down. This lining is composed of billions of tiny finger-like projections and which creates a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients from the food we eat. This area of the intestinal track is where all of our nutrition is absorbed. As these finger-like projections get worn down by the constant inflammation from continued gluten consumption before diagnosis (or after diagnosis in the case of those who are noncompliant) the efficiency of nutrient absorption from what we eat can be drastically reduced. This is why iron deficiency anemia and other nutrient deficiency related medical problems are so common in the celiac population. So, to answer your question about the wisdom of allowing your daughter to consume gluten on a limited basis to retain some tolerance to it, that would not be a sound approach because it would prevent healing of the lining of her small bowel. It would keep the fires of inflammation smoldering. The only wise course is strict adherence to a gluten free diet, once all tests to confirm celiac disease are complete.

Hi all, I have so many questions and feel like google is giving me very different information. Hoping I may get some more definite answers here. ok, my daughter has been diagnosed as a coeliac as her bloods show anti TTG antibodies are over 128. We have started her  on a full gluten free diet. my concerns are that she wasn’t actually physically sick on her regular diet, she had tummy issues and skin sores. My fear is that she will build up a complete intolerance to gluten and become physically sick if she has gluten. Is there anything to be said for keeping a small bit of gluten in the diet to stop her from developing a total intolerance?  also, she would be an anxious type of person, is it possible that stress is the reason she has become coeliac? I read that diagnosis later in childhood could be following a sickness or stress. How can she have been fine for the first 10 years and then become coeliac? sorry, I’m just very confused and really want to do right by her. I know a coeliac and she has a terrible time after she gets gluttened so just want to make sure going down a total gluten free road is the right choice. thank you for any help or advise xx
