Omg...i Might Be On To Something

I'm not sure what my problem is lately but suddenely I feel as if I've run out of patience. :(

It might be because of all the anxiety I had waiting for the Lyme results (it was just building up inside) but I just feel like I could lose it any minute.

I feel anger over the littlest things right now....like I'm angry that they messed up my blooddraw and I had to redo it. I'm angry that becuase of that I had to reschedule my appt. for another week down the road. I'm angry that this isnt the first time its happened. I'm angry that its been 4 years and I still havent been officially tested for mercury toxicity. I'm angry that things arent moving as fast as I'd like them too.:angry::angry:

I just want to get some type of treatment going.....sheesh...its been 4 years already and absolutely NO treatment. I wanna get the ball rolling and I'm sick of waiting. I dunno why its hitting me like this all of a sudden but it is...I dunno....maybe its hormonal.

Oh well....I just needed to vent.

Rachel, I do the same thing. All of a sudden something starts really bothering me that I've been patient with before. Usually it's hormonal, or I'm hungry or something. Get a bite to eat, watch a movie, get your mind on something else. It's frustrating, I know, but normally you're very patient with it!! Call TheDave and tell him you need rescuing before you drown in self-pity! I'm sure he'll be able to cheer you up! That's what FRIENDS ;) are for!! :P

Vent away my dear president! If anyone has a right to be impatient and fed up it's you! This has been a long struggle for you and much of it was probably unnecessary had someone just taken you seriously! I'm frustrated just reading some of your posts about some of the things your previous doctors have said. Anyway, I've been on a bit of a short fuse myself the last couple of weeks...trying really hard NOT to get myself fired before my vacation, but finding it hard to hold my words at work.

I think you'll find Britain is catching up with the states with it's rates of obesity.

The school dinners here are appalling too.

There was a recent report that France also has increasing rates of obesity  .

A friend of mine went to Ireland not too long ago and talked about how clean and pure the food was. Why can't they see that all this crap in our food supply is making us so sick????

Carla, love the new hair color! I was getting highlights for years and wanted to stop so I had my hair dyed back to its natural color. After about a year it all grew in nicely, but it was definitely dark and seemed to get darker  I just recently went in to get it highlighted again because I was feeling blah and wanted to brighten up a little...I don't know if I regret the decision or not, could take it or leave it I guess.

Donna  Maybe they aren't there because someone else has a Chocolate Bumble Bar addiction and beats you to them! Have you tried the chocolate varieties of Lara Bars as a substitution, I can't remember if you had or not?

Hum, I may have to do surveillance on the Bumble Bar aisle, lol. Yes, I have tried the chocolate lara bars and I do like them, but there's just something about those BBs, lol. I think it's the crispy texture, the gooey chocolate, maybe it's the ton of sugar...I don't know...I bet the new Whole Foods has them.

Thanks! I thought about dying it back my natural color, but Morgan was looking through pictures to take some to school on Wed. and came across an old one of me with natural hair. She showed it to Adam and he said, "Who's that?" Then when he figured it out he said, "No wonder I asked you to dye your hair!" :o That's when I decided that I should do something different than just having it dyed back to my natural ash blonde ... so I went for the red tones. Bleach is harsh on the hair and I was tired of it looking so damaged ... I actually had fun with the light color though.

When can we see a picture of your new highlights?

As far as obesity, I think that cable TV (we just didn't watch our 3 channels as much growing up!!), computers, game boys, etc. -- what I call "screens" when I ground my kids from them -- are also contributing to the lack of exercise that isn't helping keep the kids thin. When I was growing up, it seemed there was just one or two heavy kids, they were also typically the ones who didn't play hard.

And WHY can't I Rachel a plate of veggies???? I am the queen of over-eating the small individually wrapped chocolate-y candies....help me......

:lol::lol: Susie

I wish I could also Rachel zuchini and yellow squash, or carrots and cauliflower instead of chips and salsa, or cookies and ice cream.

Rachel,

Vent away. I don't blame you for being frustrated and angry. I would be too. You're so close to being able to start with some treatment. Try and stay busy. We are probably going to go to Mt Hood tomorrow for a little train excursion. It's like a 2-3 hour drive for a bity 30 minute train ride. The train is The Little Engine That Could. I've got to dig up directions to the place. I sure like mapquest.

I'll be here if you have no other plans tonight. :)

I'm going to Rachel a nice porterhouse steak for dinner in a little while!! I think Adam's trying to be sure I eat enough!! I'm sick of meat and veggies, and it's basically all I get!

Very true, I'd like to Rachel the big bag of M&Ms Mum just bought....I've already had quite a bit :lol:

Although I have been known to do the same to fresh salsa, steamed asparagus, and fresh pineapple!

Speaking of Bumble Bars-

Yummy!! Haven't tried the chocolate ones yet, my favorite thus far is Chai

And Rachel: I don't know you that well yet, but hang in there; and vent away!! We as people need to vent regularly otherwise we'll cause more damage keeping it all bottled up!

At least those aren't bad for you. I am intolerant to asparagus and pineapple though. Haven't been eating them....hoping to get my body to forget they exist. I only had asparagus a couple times a year as it was....so that one probably won't work (unless it's a false positive). It was in the high category along with the kidney beans I didn't eat very much. Other foods that weren't common eating didn't have that result, although a couple testing in the moderate range.

No good replacements for Cocoa Puffs though :( We can get Envirokids at our local store. So we just got shte "fun" foods that we cant get else where like egg free/gluten-free cookies, van's waffles (other then the plain s one), Weshire Nugets..etc

And I bought a Coconut.. its brown and hairy... what do I do with it? LOL

 Get ready to buy him new shoes! Whenever my boys would start eating like that, my husband would always say--uh oh, time for new shoes--and he was usually right! I see a growth spurt in your future....

About the coconut--keep it away from me :o:D

Actually, what my grandpa taught us to do is--take a hammer and long (washed) nail and hammer a hole to drain out the liquid. Then you can use the hammer to smack it into pieces. Peel off the brown hairy part.

Punch a hole in each of the 3 "eyes" (I use a cheap screwdriver and a hammer), drain the milk, and break it open the rest of the way with a hammer. At this point I like to chill it and eat it plain, but that's me :)

Thanks for letting me vent and as usual being so supportive. :)

Guess what. I went to Whole Foods today....I was by myself and apparantly my sanity and normally level head didnt go with me. I bought 2 pints of ice cream and another pint of blueberry sorbet.

Just got home and have already Racheled the chocolate rasberry swirl ice cream....its all gone. :o

I dont even normally eat chocolate anything and rasberries have been out for awhile too.....OMG...I am soooo gonna pay for this.

TheDave isnt gonna be too happy with me I think.

Like I said....I dunno whats going on with me today....maybe hormonal.

Anyways, the ice cream was delicious but dont know where it goes so fast....seems like I just opened it and now its gone. :(

I only planned on a couple spoonfuls.

I think I can pretty much Rachel anything...even veggies. Remember what I did with yams and sweet potatoes??

I also went crazy with carrots once but got so sick I doubt I'll ever try them again. I think Auxigro may have been to blame for that one. <_<

On Daves last day at my store we had a BBQ. I've never once eaten anything from any of our celebrations...not even a piece of my own B-day cake. This time I got a package of organic beef from the meat dept. and made my own burgers. I was so excited to be eating with everyone else! I was like skipping around the backroom with my plate of burgers.

Everyone was like "OMG...Rachel's eating something!!" :o

Noone at work has seen me eat ANYTHING since I came back from disability last year. Even TheDave had never seen me eat until I had those burgers at work. He has since witnessed me with ice cream though. It was pretty exciting for me....and YES I totally Racheled the burgers!!

I'm pretty scared of what might happen to me right now though. I dunno why I'm being sooo bad today.

We all have times like this Rachel. Don't be too hard on yourself. Hopefully the reaction will be over quickly, if you have one. Please don't eat the other ice cream this weekend. You may be ok right now, but you probably wouldn't if you eat the other one too.

That's exciting about you having something at the bbq! :D

Seth want to type a message too. I don't think anyone would be able to read it though.

TheDave isnt gonna be too happy with me I think.

Maybe he won't be back on here for awhile again. Then, if you don't have a reaction, you're in the clear. It's not as if he's your boss anymore and would have to deal with brainfog there. Of course, he'd still be unhappy with the incident.

You better be careful or he'll set up surveillance cameras at the stores you go to to have proof of when you buy something you shouldn't.:ph34r:

Rachel -- I know I have the same moodieness problem, and I don't think it's hormonal. It is more pronounced since my dx, but it is getting bad. ie. Last night I got mad at DW for FLIPPING THE PAGES ON THE NEWSPAPAER TOO LOUD!!:o:unsure:

Sounds silly, and NEVER would I get mad at her for anything, but the paper think was driving me CRAZY!!

Anyway, I read somewhere, that moodinesscan be a signed that we have been glutened or something. I know that can be the number one symptom for me.

Carla -- Love the new pic.

Talk to you all in the morning.

Donna -- I can relate about the Bumble Bar thing. ;)

Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  One of the symptoms of Thiamine deficiency is difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD symptoms as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.
    • knitty kitty
@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!
    • trents
Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.

I was just diagnosed at 26 after accidental finding. Any simple tips for newbies? Things a non celiac would never think of? I already went through my prescriptions and identified some medications that have gluten. Is there a beginners guide? Celiac for dummies?
