That's interesting about the nuts. The two older ones are intolerant to peanuts. We've challenged almonds and so far so good. I'm beginning to wonder if cashews are a little problem. We'd be lost without our cashews. Talitha seems to get a tummy ache after she eat Mac and Cheese (cashew cheese).

I need to challenge eggs. I already have a small headache so maybe I should see if tomorrow is better. My daughter isn't too thrilled with me trying them again. I might as well get it over with.

Rachel, you sound like my hubby. He ate 3 things this weekend that have been known to cause him problems. Now we don't know if it was all of them or some of them.

Cashew cheese???

I never heard of such a thing.

Andrea, I didnt eat cashews or peanuts. I wouldnt test those....they are the moldiest nuts. Peanuts are the worst of all nuts..because they're pretty much always contaminated with alflatoxin.

I ate Brazil, almond, hazelnut, pecan and walnut.....but I wont do it again. :P

That reminds me. Talitha seems to have a problem with walnuts too. Maybe nuts are becoming a problem for her.

We use cashews for cheese and gravy because they blend easy. I still have about 5-10 lbs worth of them I think.

I don't know what we'll do if we have to leave off all nuts. That's about the only top 8 allergen food we are eating. Still have some salmon for the rest of the family to finish though.

I'm beginning to hate these intolerances!

Hi NoGluGirl,

I think your ritual is a good idea :) . Setting your intention for healing is a very powerful thing, no matter how you do it. Let us know how it goes.

Sounds like the butter to me, Rachel. Is there any oil you can use? I grease my skillet with safflower oil.

I'm right there with you my friend! {stomping foot} I cut out all nuts for the candida diet, and in the last couple of days have added about a half tablespoon to my morning and evening pectasol shakes (sounds yummy huh, lol).

I LOVE nuts! All kinds of nuts! Rachel - I reacted to all the nuts too...I'm wondering if it was because of the mold or because of the oil or if I reacted to the oils because of the mold...oh my mind just can't deal with it all, lol.

I'm leaving in a few minutes to have my hair done...that always makes me feel better. :)

diamondheart Newbie
I'm not too sure on the eggs anymore. <_<

I started having real bad headaches. It could have been from butter....but I was only using it to grease the pan. Butter gives me headaches though.

I dunno....my friend said that veggie-fed means they're probably eating grain....and probably corn....which would have the most mycotoxins. She said chickens eat grains. I still dont know for sure though. <_<

Have you tried ghee? I don't have any problems with that and I use it to cook my eggs instead of butter.

When you think of how much grains cost versus vegetables, you gotta figure that "veggie-fed" eggs means the chickens get fed mostly grains and probably just a little bit of vegetables.

I kicked ice cream, potatoes, popcorn and apples out of my diet. There went 4 out of my 5 safe foods. :o

I've added in soymilk, eggs, oats and a few veggies.

Wow Rachel, that is huge. Thanks for the information about mycotoxins. I am wondering how a healthy body deals with them.

And now for something completely different... :P

Rachelville reminds me of Pudgeland. I had a friend in high school who's nickname was Pudge. On one of our crazy weekend partying sprees, I invented Pudgeland, the place we went when we were doing you know what. Of course Pudge was the Prez. We appointed our friends to various offices. I can't remember them all now . Somewhere it's all written down. I was the Ambassador to Outer Pudgeland, meaning I was the one who was the link to reality for those in Pudgeland! Sadly, Pudge isn't around anymore, but it was fun while it lasted B) .

Claire

Claire, Pudgeland sound fabulous.

It is just, I am done being disrespected. I feel like I am cursed! I have nothing to be happy about. I cannot remember the last time I was happy. I wonder if I am cursed by my parents' bad choices and actions. I am so tired of paying the price for other people not being responsible. I have just become angry and depressed. On the bright side, I am delightfully dark and twisted! ;)

NoGluGirl, I can relate though it has been a long time. I have found this prayer helpful, "may I love my life and find a way to live that expresses that love".

NoGluGirl, I would do whatever I could to move out ... do you have grandparents? Aunts and uncles? I had a bad home situation growing up, so I understand. I wasn't neglected, but the rest rings true. I eventually had to break things off with them when my kids started asking about the abuse. I had thought it was best for them to know their grandma, but it wasn't. My dad is very supportive (they're divorced). The stress is not helping you at all! Stress and depression is a bad combination for anyone, especially the chronically ill.

It's apparent that they don't believe you're sick and that they're frustrated that they're still supporting you. I'm afraid they've labelled you as "lazy" (I used to hear that a lot myself) ... I'm sure if they believed you, things would be different.

And I'm with Carla on this.

Rachel--24 Collaborator
Have you tried ghee?

Claire,

I've eaten ghee and had some really really bad reactions to it....WAY worse than what butter does.

This was quite awhile ago...before this thread even. I went casein free since gluten-free didnt solve all my problems and thats why I was trying ghee....because it was labeled casein free. I kept trying to figure out if there was some casein still left in it that I may be reacting to.

I eventually ruled that out...and obviously dont have a problem with casein. Truckloads of ice cream have proven that.

I never did figure it out...now I'm thinking the ghee has to contain fungi/mycotoxins....moreso than other dairy products. I was actually looking at the ghee tonight at Whole Foods and thinking about this. <_<

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Ok...I think we are really getting somewhere with my BioSET sessions!!

Check this out...

Tonight Anna wanted to check the virus panel...to see if anything was cross reacting with HHV-6 or what other virus I might have.

I did not react to anything in the panel! YAY....I think its a first for me. :o

She said we can pretty much rule the whole panel out...virus is not an issue for me. YAY! :D

The HHV-6 did show up but doesnt mean its active. It most likely isnt. She said virus often leave behind fragments...parts of the virus may always be present. She wanted to see if anything was cross reacting with HHV-6.

Last week we had checked to see what might be cross reacting with Lyme and it was molds/mycotoxins....bigtime.

So guess what showed up this time??? MOLDS :o

I have issues with many species of mold/fungi....but particularly....Aspergillus. Several species of Aspergillus always show up.

Going back to my initial testing and the report Anna had sent to my Dr.....this is something that was written on the report....as part of my history.

Rachel began smoking cigarettes at the age of 17 and continued to smoke as much as a pack per day for the next 14 years. I advised Rachel that cigarette smoke is a huge source of over 3500 chemicals and aspergillus and other pathogenic molds that will become deposited into the body and contribute to the overall toxic burden.
So this was a few months back at my initial visit.

Now....we are discovering week after week that molds/mycotoxins are obviously a big reason for my illness. Aspergillus showed up in my initial testing as far as pathogenic molds/yeasts go.

Tonight there were several species of Aspergillus showing up as cross reactive with HHV-6.

Here is a list of different species....

Aspergillus caesiellus

Aspergillus candidus

Aspergillus carneus

Aspergillus clavatus

Aspergillus deflectus

Aspergillus flavus

Aspergillus fumigatus

Aspergillus glaucus

Aspergillus nidulans

Aspergillus niger

Aspergillus ochraceus

Aspergillus oryzae

Aspergillus parasiticus

Aspergillus penicilloides

Aspergillus restrictus

Aspergillus sojae

Aspergillus sydowi

Aspergillus terreus

Aspergillus ustus

Aspergillus versicolor

Not all of these showed up but the most common and pathogenic ones did.

Its been awhile since my first appt. so Anna forgot my history as far as the smoking goes. She was looking at the list of Aspergillus and asked me if I'd been around someone who smoked alot. I told her I smoked alot!!

She asked how much? I said a pack a day.

She said this is ALOT....a pack a day is ALOT. :(

She then asked me how long? I said 14 years.

She said "OMG"

She said that cigarette makers put aspergillus into cigarettes for flavor and to make them more addictive. She said they put mold into the cigarettes purposely! :o

She said this is not a harmless mold....this one is pathogenic and opportunistic.

I told her that I know lots of people who smoke a pack a day...for longer than I did...and they are FINE.

She said that they are NOT FINE.....even after they quit...they are not FINE...and they can still develop cancer or other disease due to these toxins....long after they stop smoking. :(

I told her about how after I got sick I went through my bad break-up and I couldnt cope because of the illness and I resumed smoking....even more than a pack a day and I also wasnt eating much. She said I went back to the cigarettes for comfort. Yeah...thats pretty much what happened. :(

I knew the cigarettes were making me worse...and I eventually stopped. Even one cig. will mess me up REALLY bad so I dont touch them and havent for a long time. They produce the same symptoms as some foods I eat but to a more severe degree and the effects last several days....much like drinking a beer.

She said that this problem was occurring for a long time....it was going on w/out my knowledge....before I ever felt sick.

The chain of events that occurred in my life was extremely unlucky. Lyme, stress, mercury, Graves Disease, radiation, antibiotics, a break-up....all making my body a perfect place for Lyme and yeasts to have a party. :(

So now she thinks I may have an Aspergillus infection. She was wondering if I could get tested specifically for antibodies to Aspergillus. She was gonna call my Dr. to see if he could order a test. She said if the antibody titer comes back high he can prescribe meds to treat it.

She said that Aspergillus can affect me anywhere....but it primarily affects the liver. It could be causing the detox issues...or at least playing a big role.

On the computer it was showing that Aspergillus and the other molds were really affecting my brain. She said its a big reason for my brainfog and other brain-related symptoms.

She said she has one other patient....a little girl....who is as sensitive to molds as I am. She goes off if she even eats a strawberry. She just gets crazy...her parents didnt understand and thought she was possessed. Anna explained that this is like an allergy that is directly affecting the brain. The girl is doing better now. :)

When I came out of the treatment room Anna had already called the lab which tested for yeasts and bacteria last month. She asked if they did an Aspergillus test. They said they dont do it anymore because they were being threatened to be shut down or something. She said apparantly its all political like Lyme Disease....people saying that Aspergillus cant make you sick or cause disease and making it so that we cant get tested.

I'm sure the tobacco companies are involved in some way. <_<

Anyways, she went online and found a lab that runs the test. There were so many diferent tests for so many diferent fungus and alot of different Aspergillus tests. We didnt know which one was the best test. I want more than just IgG testing.....as many antibodies as they test for and they also have a DNA test....I want the most comprehensive.

Shes gonna call them...get the kit for the best test and then she'll do the bloodwork. If its positive she said my Dr. will be more likely to prescribe the meds....without worrying about backlash from anyone. Its better when the Dr. has a positive test to go on......just like with Lyme.

So thats the gameplan for now.....find out how much this Aspergillus is affecting me.

She said Candida treatment doesnt treat Aspergillus infection. This could be why I dont get better treating candida!

The other test I had with extremely high antibodies to yeast was a gut test. She went over those results again tonight. She said the yeast was at least 4 times the normal level....the bacteria was a little more than twice the normal rate....and dietary proteins was a little elevated.

Those are the things causing leaky gut...mainly yeast and bacteria with food protein playing a smaller role. It could be gluten mainly but since I'm off it....the levels arent very high. Thats my guess anyway.

The yeast doesnt necessarily have to be candida. The test wasnt species specific....it could be different strains....or it could be candida. The Aspergillus could also be responsible or contribituting to the high antibody levels in that test.

I have so many exciting things coming up....I feel like we're getting closer and closer and stuff is really making sense.....after all this time. :o

I looked up some stuff about Aspergillus...

Species

The genus Aspergillus includes over 185 species. Around 20 species have so far been reported as causative agents of opportunistic infections in man. Among these, Aspergillus fumigatus is the most commonly isolated species, followed by Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger. Aspergillus clavatus, Aspergillus glaucus group, Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus oryzae, Aspergillus terreus, Aspergillus ustus, and Aspergillus versicolor are among the other species less commonly isolated as opportunistic pathogens. See the list of obsolete names and synonyms for older names of these species.

Pathogenicity and Clinical Significance

Aspergillus spp. are well-known to play a role in three different clinical settings in man: (i) opportunistic infections; (ii) allergic states; and (iii) toxicoses. Immunosuppression is the major factor predisposing to development of opportunistic infections [1048]. These infections may present in a wide spectrum, varying from local involvement to dissemination and as a whole called aspergillosis. Among all filamentous fungi, Aspergillus is in general the most commonly isolated one in invasive infections. It is the second most commonly recovered fungus in opportunistic mycoses following Candida.Almost any organ or system in the human body may be involved.

Aspergillus species are highly aerobic and are found in almost all oxygen-rich environments, where they commonly grow as molds on the surface of a substrate, as a result of the high oxygen tension. Commonly, fungi are grown on carbon-rich substrates, mainly monosaccharides such as glucose. Aspergilli, however, can also secrete amylase enzymes, which allow it to use polysaccharides as a carbon source, for example starch. As a result of this, Aspergillus species are common contaminants of starchy foods, for example bread and potato, and grow in or on many plants and trees.

In addition to growth on carbon sources such as glucose, fructose, maltose, and starch, many species of Aspergillus demonstrate oligotrophy: they are capable of growing in nutrient-depleted environments, or environments in which there is a complete lack of key nutrients. A. niger is a prime example of this; it can be found growing on damp walls, or as a major component of mildew.

Perhaps the most well-known application of A. niger is as the major source of citric acid; this organism accounts for over 99% of global citric acid production, or more than 4.5 million tonnes per annum. A. niger is also commonly used for the production of native and foreign enzymes, including glucose oxidase and hen egg white lysozyme

I am really excited about this info. One of my very first threads when I joined this board was titled "Citric Acid". I was wanting to know if it contained gluten because I was having really obvious and BAD reactions to it. I've never been able to figure out a definite cause. <_<

A week or two ago someone posted on another thread about citric acid being derived fom mold.....it really made me think....considering all that is showing up in my testing.

Now I am pretty much 100% certain thats why I react to citric acid. YAY for getting answers....finally!! :D

This also very much explains why I cant tolerate any enzymes....most are grown on Aspergillus or other fungi.

This is what I found about treatment....

Invasive aspergillosis is treated with several weeks of amphotericin B, an antifungal medication given by an IV. Itraconazole or voriconazole can also be used.

Antifungal agents do not help people with allergic aspergillosis. Allergic aspergillosis is treated with prednisone taken by mouth.

Gradual improvement is seen in patients with allergic aspergillosis

I also saw that alot of other mediactions can be used for treatment as well.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what shows up in the bloodtest....SHEEESH...I really do hate the "waiting" part. :(

The next thing I want to find out about is this....Saccharomyces yeast (Florastor).

I took this while I was on the Flagyl (metronidazole) last year. I was really sick the entire time and even after the Flagyl was over I reamined sick and very constipated...until I finished the Florastor....which contained Saccharomyces Yeast. <_<

It was a probiotic but now I'm very curious as to whether this was actually making me sick...another question for Anna. Considering its a fungus....I'll bet money it was causing me the symptoms I had during that time.

Anyways...thats it for the latest from the BioSET files. :P

Dont know if I'll be able to post for lunch tomorrow. I have to go to a meeting...I didnt know about it till yesterday and all my good clothes are home in Manteca. Of course I had to go shopping...and of course I found more than just what I needed for work. :P

YAY for shopping! :D

Dear Claire and rinne,

Thanks for the support. I am only one supply short. Somewhere is bound to have a black candle. 40th birthday parties usually have that theme for over the hill. Black candles are the only ones used to break curses. I am tired of dealing with everyone else's bad karma. It is my turn to be happy. I have waited long enough and worked too hard not to be. I will keep you updated.

Rachel,

Wow, lots of stuff and learning going on.

All these things that could contribute to problems.

Donna,

Hope things go ok with the little bit of nuts you added back in. I'm trying to figure out how to go nut free over here. Bread with fruit spread sounds kind of boring for the kids and I used the nut butters to get a little more protein into them. Well Talitha is the only one that probably needs to go nut free. I should so it's one less allergen for Seth to possibly react to. I think I need to keep the almond butter for Micah as he's not real fond of meat. Was just talking to Mitch tonight and we're going to try and make gravy from vegetable broth, don't really know how that will work. Nuts take the place of dairy in most things. :(

Andrea-

can they have seeds? I cannot tolerate nuts but I seem to be ok with seeds- sunflower and pumpkin are what i use- i make vegee pastes and so on- I have made fake cheese with sunflower seeds instead of cashews becasue I am allergic- you could try it. Also I have not had it lately but quinoa is a good source of protein as opposed to most grains which don't have much. Oh they also do make sunflower butter- its different but its pretty good. Just some ideas

Andrea, what about eggs?

I've used tahini for many things, too. It's from seeds.

Or, if there are ways Micah will eat meat, maybe just be sure to prepare it that way a couple times per week. I've been buying wonderful, uncured brats and sausages that everyone seems to love. I'll also saute some ground meat, add veggies, then flavor with gluten-free Cream of Mushroom soup.

I find meat pretty boring myself, actually. I made many more interesting dishes when we ate primarily vegetarian!

We used to use Tahini a lot. I need to try it again. Both Talitha and I tested real low on sesame.

Micah loves taco seasoned meat (beef or chicken) and he ate the chicken breast cooked with crushed tomatoes last time we had that. He likes turkey patties, bacon and I think hotdogs. Basically he seems to like the processed meats. We only buy the natural stuff, no nitrates/nitrites.

I love cream of mushroom soup but haven't had it for awhile. I forget if it had soy in it and we are dairy free as well.

I guess if I think about it he is getting a little better about eating meat.

We actually had collard greens this weekend and everyone loved them so they will go into the mix of things a couple times a week. Cooked them with garlic which everyone loves. :)

Holy mole...My aunt and brother smoked like fiends when I was growing up...my mom and dad used to, but quit when I was pretty young although dad smoked an ocassional pipe.

Stupid cigarette manufacturers!!!

I'm wondering if why this is why I didn't get 100% better on the candida routine too...I did feel better, and was definitely less sick, but never 100% well.

I am interested in what you find about Florastor, cuz I'm about 99.9% sure that is what made me really sick one day. I stopped taking it about 3 days into the diet cuz I just had the worst cramping and noisy bowels and, well, exlosive D. Things have been okay since not taking it and I seem to be okay with the HLC probiotics. At first I thought it was the coconut oil I used, but I used that on the same day as the Florastor, and I just tried the oil again and it was fine.

I find meat pretty boring myself, actually. I made many more interesting dishes when we ate primarily vegetarian!

Just got a call from my mom who got a call from a friend in Arizona yesterday I think. My dad has gone downhill fast. I just talked to him Saturday and he sounded fine aside from his voice not being very good. I think it was Monday night that he lost it and got violent, then after that weepy. They had to call the paramedics twice. He's in hospice care and they are trying to get his meds evened out to send him back home to die. He's been pulled off dialysis. Doctors have determined it will do no further good. Death is imminent. He's totally incoherant. I'm hoping his wife will call at some point but she's under a great deal of stress and is not doing well with this either.

About the greens ... I use collards, chard, and spinach all the time! I put spinach and carrots in the chili I made the other night and everyone still loved it! I chopped up chard last night and put it in the rice ... everyone thought the rice looked prettier! I do the same thing with collards. Sometimes I make a one dish dinner with the ground meat and veggies like I said, and I include greens. Except for spinach, I don't serve them as a dish on their own. I love spinach sauteed in garlic though.

Donna, I like meats like filet mignon! I LIKE the others, they just get boring when you have them every meal. There was more variety before.

I tried to find out about Aspergillus infection.....I dont know if it fits for me though. I'm sensitive to all molds so its probably more likely because of leaky gut. :(

I'm still gonna take the test but I'm thinking my immune system is probably fighting all molds so would likely come back high. I'm not sure if treating it would help in this situation.

I guess if my gut is leaky these fungi could have translocated and set up infection somewhere in my body. <_< Thats the thing about leaky gut...the pathogens get to travel around and wreak havoc. :(

I got an email from Scott about my ART test on Saturday. This is what we will cover...

Our primary areas of interest will be:

1) Determining the level of stress on your nervous system

2) Scanning basic organs for areas of stress and lack of proper functioning

3) Scanning the body for indicators of possible infections

4) Scanning the body for potential presence of heavy metals

5) Providing insights into foods that you may potentially be sensitive to

6) Reviewing your current supplement program energetically to see what may be good for you and what may be bad for you

7) Determining potential interventions that may help the body in resolving issues identified

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
