One of these days I'll have to get together another one of those pages with excerpts from the madness of last summer.

I think you might have missed what I put together from a word search on "Spinached".

.......

Anyways.....YAY!!! :D

Now my next question is.....are you gonna show these results to any of your previous docs?? :P

Now the first letter goes, 1 - I have Lyme disease, 2 - you are an idiot and 3 - you are a danger to your patients. :P:lol:

rach-

real quick---- thanks for all your sweet words :)

and the running joke is that i'll send the results, with a nice letter (a la rinne!), and a picture of me, holding a certain finger up. don't worry, its a joke, but i've laughed (and cried) over it a handful of times already.

Maybe not now Laura but at some point you may find it helpful, I know I felt better after my letter to Dr.Huffy and when I think of that one doctor you posted about I'd like to :angry::ph34r: write him myself.

Only four minutes until a shuttle launch!

Always an amazing spectacle.

Thanks for the update. :)

Oh and yes to Serendipitous Spice, that's me.

Its perfect for Rinne...but DANG....I'm gonna have a really hard time spelling that one.

Ok, I laughed out loud about that. I had forgotten that!!! Seriously though, I remember not sharing for a long time because I didn't think I was "as sick" as you or someone else, so then I didn't want it to look like a pity party for me. It took me a long time to admit to myself that I was as sick as I was, and longer to admit it to others.

I know its not a competition.....but you know what I mean. And look where I ended up....96 lbs and 8 foods, with my parents taking care of me. I look back now and realize I was sicker than I could even comprehend.

let me just say that I am near giddy at this point.. i feel like such a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. i feel like i can be me again. i have a name, and have more proof to the lyme (which I am convinced now....no more "what if"). This is what I have, and I can get rid of it, and then I'll go on to do all sorts of fabulous things. And by fabulous things...I mean, not worry all the time, work a normal schedule, enjoy my time with friends and family (and one day, one of my own!), ....do normal things that have been taken away from me and changed who I was. not that it will be an easy road from today to "there"----but its a start, right?

Eric and I are going out for a bit, but I will send out an email, maybe tomorrow? I haven't shared as much lately so I'll fill in on everything. I got your PM Susie (and by the way, Eric laughed when he saw that the dingo's wished me well) and I should have everyone else's email.

I love you guys.......thank you for all the gentle pushes, and just listening....or reading, etc.

oh yeah, so what is my spice ;)

xoxo

ROFLMAO

I just LOVE reading that!!

There is really only ONE Dr. I want to send a letter to. The biggest idiot Dr. I'd ever seen...out of a whole sea of idiot Dr.'s...he really stands out from the rest. MORON.

He's gonna be hearing from me one of these days.

Oh....and I definately cant forget about the DENTIST that started ALL of this heinosity....he'll be hearing from me too.

We had a few discussions about all this in the very beginning (he's the one that said no harm in galvanic reaction  )...but yeah....he was backing the ADA 100%. MORON.

His letter will say:

1. I have mercury poisoning, 2. You are an idiot, 3. You are a danger to your patients and to your staff. :P

Todays news from Laura is a wonderful example of why this thread is so precious to us.

As to the Mars/Venus thing, could be.

Essentially you walked into a room with a group of mostly women who have formed a close friendship, some of us have been talking to eachother for over a year and most of us have been through HELL. It has been not only our illness, which is devasting enough, but with doctors who have treated us without respect and family and friends who think we're crazy.

If we are protective it is only because this is one of the few places we come to and know we are safe.

We are AMAZON.

Rinne can be our spokesperson anytime! I agree with all of this.

Donna- You have a beautiful smile (from your other avatar) so I crown thee Smiley Spice.

I like it!! :P although old avatar is more a guffaw than a smile...but I do smile too.

Tom (Murph)- yeah...you can go play that's great! And it could very well be the Mars/Venus thing. I think we also feel very protective of each other because we've been through so much in the 1171 pages of this thread! So, we are women hear us ROAR! Not at you, but at the thought of getting healthy!!!!

Yep, agree with this too.

We have grown very close over the last year. I'm the healthiest as far as symptoms go but I'm not taking that for granted. I'm also not sure if I have a candida problem and I'm not going there until my little guy is weaned late next year. He had enough of a problem with the tiny bit of chlorella I was taking.

...

We welcome newcomers, this is not a clique, it's a growing family.

Yep, agree with this too.

Amazonian Lyme Ladies of the Rachelville Paradise Cult Farm in-the-Mountains-by-the-Sea.

Holy guacamole how can you remember all that. :P

Yup...this thread is near and dear to us....our home away from home...the one place where the light is always on and everyones always welcome.

Yep, including people from both venus and mars.

Yet, I can't regret any of it for myself or for any of you because here we are and we wouldn't be here if not for all the rest of it.

And the very fact that we are seeing improvements says so much.

Laura, how about Happy Spice . :)

I am just so very glad that you have found doctors that are helping you.

So Serendipitous Spice it is even though Rachel will have a hard time spelling it.:P You could shorten it to Dippy I suppose.

Omg- that is exactly how I feel tonight. Optimistic. I was just talking to my dad and said "Yeah so WHEN I get pregnant I'll be on amoxicillin." If was the first time in a LONG time that I didn't say IF I get pregnant.

Once I'm better I am going to:

1. Surf again (I'm terrible but I love it)

2. Ski my ever loving brains out.

3. eat Reese's peanut butter cups

4. Do yoga

5. Travel every chance I get

6. Finish my doctorate

7. And keep in touch with all of you

Me too. I am actually worried for her. I think she might have a breakdown for sure! My ex was arrested a few times for DUI (one of the reasons why he's ex by the way) and he didn't spent much time in jail either. Not saying that's right, just saying what happened to her is not so unusual.

Yeah...somehow I was "Candy Spice" (dont recall how that came about though  ). I think Bev came up with it.....sounds about right....she's pretty NUTTY like that. :P

It sounded kinda "stripperish" ....so I became "Candida Spice" instead.

I think Susan said I'm Scientific Spice....so I'll go with that since like Bev....I dont want to be named after one of the "bugs". :P

Yes...I was THRILLED that she got sent back today......could not BELIEVE that they would allow her to stay in her luxurious home for a month and call that punishment. HELLO....parties every night at Paris's house.

Anyways...saw the whole story.....she's screaming for her mom...all disheveled and hysterical. Tears galore...I think she could totally break down from this.

I'm torn from feeling sorry for her....but then knowing if she would have gotten to serve out the remainder under MANSION ARREST.....she would continue to never take anything seriously. She's a bit spoiled...to say the least.

So I dunno...I'm torn.

OK....have a question for you all that I am a bit scared to ask but I'm gonna throw it out there. Narcotic painkillers with Lyme? Anyone? I know my SIL"S sister took viocodin and it helped her function tremendously. Not a big fan, but some days really are unbearable (today was one of them.

We also need spice names for Charlie and Grump. :P

Pain killers...don't do well with them so I really don't have any input. Vicodin never seems to do anything for me...they gave them to me after both of my surgeries and last year before my root canal, but they didn't really touch the pain. I had better luck with tylenol. Weird I know, but that's me. :P

:o OMG - - I don't know the answer to this is for you, except you have to be quite careful as to which narcotic you take- you don't EVER want to see Silly Spice on VICODIN - - - it's like crank for me - - like I had 10 pots of coffee - - took one of my niece's a few weeks ago when back was thrown out - - worse reaction than when I had one 15 years ago - - I had to remove myself from family dinner, had to be alone in a cool, quiet, darkened room with fan blowing on me - - until it passed - not kidding -

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.

Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
