***NEWS FLASH***

My husband took the bug (who is STILL alive and kicking) to the entomologist, who thought it might be a tick til he got it under the microscope.

IT'S A BLACK COCCINEAL BEETLE.

IT'S NOT A TICK!!!!!!!! :):):):)

I looked up 5 different links about coccineal beetles, and they all said that they don't bite. WRONG.

YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously- what a relief!

Hi everybody! a drive-by.....I am SO far behind!

I've been wondering where you were! Good to see you. :D

How's your week been?

Fiddle-Faddle Community Regular
Um, well, THAT is because, let's face it, the coccineal beetles had never encountered the lovely decolletage and hidden under-the-bra spot of miss Alison Fiddle-Faddle Celiac.

:lol::ph34r:

(I'm sorry, I couldn't resist).

But GOOD NEWS!!!

Hi everybody! a drive-by.....I am SO far behind!

The Linguistic Ranger Strikes Again!!

I must commend you.

Seriously, that word was not only the first one I had to look up(!) here, but I'm real sure I'd never even *heard* of it before!!

Luckily, txting "D decolletage" to 46645 (googl) got me THIS:

Glossary:

Decolletage: A very deep, plunging neckline which reveals a lot of cleavage.

Source: www.bridesave.com/glossary.cfm

After all this time - you've been palming Aces like this?

(Of course LMAO the whole time I'm writing):lol:

Bravo!

<too much?> ROFL

[Edit:

P.S. Or, , do all the women know that word and in my ignorance I'm mucho overly impressed? ]

Hi Carla,

You know what? My estrogen problems cleared up. I'm not really sure why. It may have had something to do with having my fibroids removed and all the changes I made in my diet. I did so many things, I don't know which one it was, or maybe it was all of them. My estrogen used to be high, but now it's ok. Maybe on the low side, if anything, because sometimes I still get hot flashes. It also could be because I improved my egg quality. I was told by a couple of doctors that high estrogen is a sign of poor egg quality, which happens as you get older. Isn't perimenopause fun - not!!

Claire

Hi Claire,

I don't think I have an estrogen problem ... my LLMD wanted me to take this, and I know it's one of the functions. :) I'm glad yours is better. I'm not quite to perimenopause yet ... I thought I was because of the night sweats, but that ended up being from babesia!

Hi, SusieQ!! That is the funniest thing I have heard in WEEKS!!!! :P:P:P

How are you doing?

 Glad you liked it. And thank you for asking, and you too, Andrea, I am doing MUCH better.

And guess what, I can CLIMB again......but no bouldering or jumping off things (duh). Found out I couldn't do treadmill any more, and must seriously ease up on the weights.....BUT - - - - I CAN climb w/ rope, it's just easy, fluid movement with no jarring of the spine. :) I am thrilled. In fact, heading over there now. Back feels SO much better, as I"ve done almost two weeks of NOTHING, which I did not like, but which really has helped things, because from the research I've been doing, and people I've talked with, it seems that doctors don't really KNOW what to do with the back, so the afflicted must *usually* just find things to manage and ease the pain (chiro, acupuncture, massage, whatever).....my doctor still hasn't gotten back to me or referred me anywhere.

Um, Tom? you are WAY too easily amused. Yes, settle down.....everyone knows that word.....

Yes, we all do, but you're talking about someone who was surprised the electrical industry called lightbulbs "lamps." :D Tom, you do set yourself up for it.

Okay, so the test you were talking about, where was the galvanic reaction ... I still don't get it.

YAY, YAY, YAY on the climbing!

I was just finishing booking the flight, so ready to laugh at EVERYthing!!

I'll go to the *grave* believing Men don't know that word. (Well, not straight non-fashion-designer men)

Okay, so the test you were talking about, where was the galvanic reaction ... I still don't get it.

Hehe it's at the tip - where 2 types of wires are connected. The other ends are where the galvanic voltage is measured.

Does that do it? I'll play until it's muy claro (habla espanol?). Anglais?

I'll keep on talking until it's crystal clear!!

I don't know about the coconut milk which is why I didn't respond earlier. :(

"Looking for the name"(s)??

I know I haven't been getting out much for a few yrs but I'll still be very surprised if they're *"named"*. Are we talking a couple little nametags? Tattoos? Please not barcodes and PLU#s!!

Ohhhhhhh OK! It must mean "hoping for the GIRL'S name to register!!! <phew! that was tough!>

ROFLMAO!! :P

woohooo SJ here I come!!

[Edit]****

P.S. Whoa just noticed that Susie's avatar caption was changed from " <sniff>:( " to "Yay!:)" !! How great is that?! :)

Lisa - I wish I knew about the coconut milk too. The thing is, I'd seen something written somewhere, probably on this forum, but just don't remember whether they had a mold issue. I know they *liked* it. I'm reluctant to hazard a guess, since my reasons aren't that good.

Then again, u already had the stuff!!

I can't deny I'm curious, w/ u having so many problems w/ so many foods, how the 'asking' came second.

Tom, no comprendo ... pienso que no puedo entender sin hablando ... pero es ok ... no necesito entender. Es muy interesante que hay personas quien prueba lamparas y bombillas para voltaje.

Oh, I was married in 1984 ... you are older than I, so you were not a child in 1985. :P

Lisa, it's just a guess, but I would think coconut milk would be okay. On fruit, you can see it's moldy ... on a coconut, the milk is inside, and I don't think they'd be able to use a bad coconut for the milk. My guess is it's okay ... but don't know for sure. I guess after tonight you'll be able to give us the verdict.

Tom - - I think you are getting a little over-excited about eveything and must calm thyself.....probably was the talk of cleavage.....

You may be right ... straight, non-fashion-designer men may not know what it's called because they're too distracted by looking for the name to register in their brain.

And speaking of, I am SOOOOOOOOOO flippin' jealous of women with cleavage. <_<

Great news Susan! Please take it easy. :D

Thanks, Mama Spice. :) I had a FANTASTIC climb and some very gentle weights. I haven't even FELT the pain in my back for about six days or more, and haven't had pain pills in taht many. But, I do feel a very minor ache now, it will probably be gone by tomorrow.....

don't worry, no climbing tomorrow.

Would swimming help your back?

Knowing you (funny concept, as we've never met face to face), whatever you try, you will overdo it at first from the sheer joy of being able to do it, so BE CAREFUL!!! Give yourself limits, and observe them strictly.

It's better to go slowly and actually get there than to do too much and end up going backwards.

I pmed Rachel, hoping I could help to calm things down, but I failed. :( She pmed me back a long, angry letter, saying that she was done with this thread for good.

Not only was I unable to dissuade her, I think I made her angrier. :(

I'm very taken aback by the whole thing, because it did NOT seem like our Rachel.

Well, imagine that!

They don't know what to do with the front either, or the brain, or the bowels, or...

Would it be worth seeing a physiatrist? That's a sports medicine doctor, kind of like a physical therapist with an MD, or like an orthopedist that doesn't do surgery. They specialize in managing pain without surgery, and are very into physical therapy, chiropractors, etc. At least, the one I saw was into them!

Canned coconut milk should be fine. It actually can kill off some of the pathogens in your gut, so go easy on the stuff, or you might get D from die off. There are a couple of interesting books on the "miracles" of coconut milk.

And guess what, I can CLIMB again......but no bouldering or jumping off things (duh). BUT - - - - I CAN climb w/ rope, it's just easy, fluid movement with no jarring of the spine. :)

Well, I thought you were a climber too! I think you might of missed my message awhile back about climbing. It's sooooo good for the back! I have scoliosis, and it's very helpful. DH has been climbing for 30 years. A couple of years ago, he had to have back surgery for a herniated disk. Climbing has been good exercise for him. He's my rope gun!

No full moon...maybe Jupiter was NOT aligned with Mars?

All I know is that Saturn is moving out of my sign in September, and I'm very excited about it! That's when I'm doing my IVF. Virgos, watch out. You're next!

My tooth is getting less painful and sensitive, so I'm hopeful it will be all better soon!

Alison....this is just not true at all.

This is actually how my pm started out...

Alison,

You really dont know me...I am not at all upset or placing blame. I dont need a safe place to vent...I'm perfectly fine with my decision to walk away from this thread.

I'm very much in my right mind tonight....and my feelings arent going to change tomorrow or the next day. I dont care who's to blame....I'm not concerned with placing blame. I dont like to be surrounded by negativity....period.

I'm not going to post all of it because its personal but there was nothing angry about my pm to you. My letter carried the same tone as these first two paragraphs. I'll be sending both your pm and mine to Scott. Yours was not anything meant to try to calm me down....it was to provoke me.

You really need to not discuss our conversations openly...and especially when you're not being honest.

In the study linked above, the little girl switched to a gluten free diet and gained enough weight that that fat pad was replenished and surgery was not needed.   Here's the full article link... Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.
    • knitty kitty
@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.
    • trents
Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.
