My computer time is quickly coming to an end. :o

I'm not looking forward to the 25 hours following treatment. I think I'm gonna be bored out of my mind.

Rachel, think of it as a vacation! I think we all need time away from the computer. It can't be that healthy getting all these EMFs all the time! Same with the cell phone. Who knows what it's doing to my brain :o ?

I'm off to SJC Monday, so I really shouldn't be here. I have so much to do before I leave :o ! I probably won't be here much the next 3 weeks. When I start my spiritual retreat, I'm planning on staying off the computer, but we'll see if I have enough discipline to do that! I'd rather be going for walks along the California coast. I love the sea otters and Monterey cyprus trees!

A friend of mine just went on a meditation retreat, and she called it Grease Monkey for the mind ! My brain is looong overdue for an oil change  !

Whew I *bet* there's a ton to do, betw the conference prep & regular travel-related things. The double-combo trip makes u away from home for pretty long.

The retreat at Asilomar is in *such* a nice location. Tho not "away-from-it-all", if u face West, it can feel like it!!

If I remember correctly, there's not a lot of actual beach near there as much as rockier areas that make for great tide-pool fun. At high tide, you can't get down by the water much. Don't get me wrong - it's fantastic! Just don't expect to be barefoot often.

Hmmmm maybe it gets beachier heading towards Monterey. Susie might know this better. If they provide bikes, or rentals are reasonable you two should ride that great path along that part of the Peninsula!

Actual sandy beach areas aren't far tho!

I like Carmel River State Beach & on the other side of Carmel, Point Lobos park or preserve or whatever. Very nice hikes w/ deer and coves w/ sandy beaches & sea lions & otters etc etc. Ahhhhhh I can almost smell the eucalyptus!! :):)

And there's those cypress trees too!

My last job was at a company named for one!!

Much more sand at eastern & northern parts of the bay, and a ton south of the peninsula.

(Oops a lot more than I planned to write - but I sure miss going to the central coast) <where's that emoticon w/ a little tear?>

I see you Kat! :D

How are you doing?

I'm all right ... I'm okay ...

However, the chocolate supply in the world has seriously dwindled. I've fallen back on the Nicorette. Originally, I was going to cold turkey it, but in order to deal with the habit thing, I realized that I can't be struggling with the addiction at the same time. It really is helping quite a bit.

I love this. I woke up this moring and took a nice deep breath. It felt so good ... suprrised me.

I wasn't a monster smoker. I smoked just under a pack a day - Ultra lights - but for 18 years.

And Jin, I was a very courteous smoker - even to myself. Never smoked indoors or around people. I never wanted other people to suffer for my addiction.

We're doing great ... thanks for asking.

Hope everyone's doing great out there too ! Happy Saturday !

Hi,

Yeah, I remember ... you used the patch.

Screw the 10 pounds. 10 pounds for your life ! You can lose the weight, but you can't lose lung cancer.

Right On Nikki !

I have to say Yay! for both Nikki and Kat!

Do what you need to do.........chocolate is awfully good. :D

And yes, the weight can come off again, cancers are a little more eye opening.

Hi everyone...just a quickie today...I'm so very exhausted and really not feeling great today. I woke up yesterday with pain in my throat...didn't think it was exactly a sore throat...thought maybe I injured the back of my tongue, but it hurt all day. Then this morning I've had D all morning and I am very hoarse. There's a lot of junk and some white stuff around my tonsils and about 12:00 got so exhausted I almost thought about cancelling my appointment. Could hardly sit up actually. I'm blaming the cookies and the chocolate chips I didn't tell you about. :P

I just got back from my BioSET appointment. We tested one of the lyme panels. I only reacted to 3 vials, but those three vials are affecting EVERYTHING!!! All the organs, all my systems, etc. So many things came up that I can't even remember...joints, thyroid, lymph system, carb metabolism, and on and on. At first I was excited that I only reacted to 3 vials, but then Anna said that those three were affecting nearly every part of my body. :(

She was training 2 new people today...so, Rachel, maybe one day I'll go in and YOU'LL be testing me, lol. Anyway, she had the new people test me first as part of their training (she wasn't in the room), then she retested me to double check. The trainees only found 1 vial, but when Anna rechecked she found the other two.

I don't know what happened to Susan and Denise, but Anna is the only one testing for a while! I tried to make one more appointment for the last lyme panel, finally had to make an appointment for 3:30 during the week a couple of weeks from now. TRaffic will be horrible, but it was that or 5:30 on a Saturday. :( Hum, maybe I should come home first and take the lightrail over there. Ugh. Can't think, or concentrate right now.

One question for the BioSET people: after we're treated we lay in a darkened room with the glass on our stomach (it has to touch bare skin). I've never noticed this before, but the last three treatments (for lyme) have all been the same. As the glass is on my tummy, after about 5 minutes or so, the area directly under the glass starts gurgling and actually feels like it's bubbling...I can almost feel it bumping the glass, lol. I don't think this has happened in all the other times I've had the treatments, but for each of the three lyme panels so far this has happened. It is just a coincidence? Has anyone else had that happen? I'm going to ask Anna if I can possibly remember by then, but just wondered if anyone has had that happen.

Donna,

I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly today. :( Hope you feel well enough to sing tomorrow. Do they have a backup.....just in case?

Do you know if what you're taking will help with the vials you reacted to today?

Hoping to hear from Rachel soon......but I don't know what time her appointment was yesterday.

I think what I'm taking is good for what I reacted to today. Every time Scott tests me, my "core" supplements always neutralize the lyme a bit.

As far as back up...right at the beginning I told them that we should have everyone learn that part (and it's really simple so I think everyone does know it) just in case. There are two main verses...the first one is my solo, the second time through we all sing in unison, so it wouldn't be weird if everyone sang unison the first time through too. If my voice is as hoarse tomorrow as it was today there's no way I should sing it...it was very obvious my voice was not right.

I know, I'm very anxious to hear about Rachel's appointment! Was kind of hoping there'd be something here when I came on now, lol. Okay, I'll be patient. Maybe. :P

Patient! Who's patient! I've been patient for this long. I'm getting antsy now.

Ok, hubby got out a game that we get to try and play without Seth getting into everything. :P

I do hope your voice is better tomorrow. It'll probably clear up tomorrow afternoon, right. :P

For years before I was diagnosed ... more than a decade ... I took a lot of supplements because I felt better on them. I took a Kyolic garlic with astragalus. I noticed a huge difference between taking their other garlics and the one with astragalus ... I felt better on the one with astragalus.

I also took Colostrum, which is good for the immune system.

I've recently read that a Lyme patient does not want to take echinacea because of the autoimmune issues with Lyme ... I never did well on echinacea.

I find it interesting that I gravitated to supplements/herbs that are natural abx. I also had good results with colloidal silver.

THANKS CARLA AND ALL WHO RESPONDED.

CHIRO ALSO SAID RIGHT OFF.."WELL PEOPLE WITH AUTOIMMUNE ISSUES SHOULD NOT USE ECHINACEA!

SHE'S SO ON TOP OF THINGS.

GOING TO PRINT THIS OUT.

THANKS ALL

GOOD LUCK DONNA AND RACHEL..AND HI TO EVERYONE.

Hi everyone!!

I survived the heinosity of 25 hours avoiding all electronics! :D

It actually ended 2 hours ago but I was out looking for Harry Potter. :P

I decided that next time I go through this I need some good reading material. I never read Harry Potter...only saw part of the movie. I couldnt find the first book anywhere...guess I'm not the only one thinking its a good time to start the series.

Anyways...I'll be back on later to tell about my appt. Gotta drive home now. My mom took good care of me as far as cooking my food and such. :)

I slept more than 15 hours!

Donna....I hope your voice is ok for tomorrow. I'll be thinking about you. :)

Judy,

After the LED treatments we have to avoid EMF's as much as possible. That means avoidance of cell phones, cordless phones, computers, T.V.'s, microwaves, electric stoves, hair dryer, iron, appliances, etc., etc. Even battery operated stuff like toothbrushes and watches.

No driving in the car for more than 2 hours.

No body work....massages, chiropractic stuff, etc.

No caffeine.

No metal jewelry, belt buckles, under-wire bra, etc.

No peppermint, spearmint or cinnamon.

Also you have to avoid contact with whatever substance you were treated for.

All of these things can disturb the energy in the body and completely stop the detox process.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Ok...I'll have to post about the treatment tomorrow cuz apparantly I'm still kind of tired. -_-

I don't know, Talitha really gets to me alot. We are similar in a lot of ways which doesn't help. She has a lot of sensory issues that we are hoping will clear with treatments. Dr. E isn't so sure they will though. We may have to do GRT sensory integration with her. Don't ask what that is.....I have no idea.

I know I'm getting extremely tired of the same old food.....I don't know how you do it Rachel.

I did take the car in for an oil change today so I did get out on my own. I was talking to the gal at the Letterbox and saying my time to myself is grocery shopping on the weekends. I do have a relaxing time though. Hubby was going to take the car in but I volunteered since I'd be home before naptime to tend to Seth.

Rachel,

How'd you do with you water if you were sleeping all but 10 hours of the detox time?

That's ok. My main concern was how you handled it and it obviously went well for you.

Dear Mia,

I agree that the solo should be easy for Donna compared to giving up nutbutters! I sure miss them. Especially peanut butter! Stupid aflatoxins! Maybe I can get some cashew butter at the healthfood store this week.

We are always thinking of you, too! It is sweet you consider us as well! :) I am anxious to hear your update! Don't worry, just do it when you can! There is no need to stress yourself.

Dear Donna,

I am sorry to hear about the sore throat and D! That is just awful! :( I hope you feel better today. At least if you are unable to sing, the choir is prepared! I wish I could help you on the stomach bubbling at BioSet, but I have no comment that would be useful because I have not done that type of testing.

It is good there were only three vials you reacted to. The sucky part was that they effect your entire body! What a bummer! That may change the next time, though. You know how that goes.

Dear Andrea,

It sounds like you and the children have a full schedule! Make sure to take time out for yourself. You need your mommy time so you do not go crazy! Maybe you should start meditating. Have you ever tried yoga?

Poor Seth seems to get it all! So far, they all are doing pretty well. Considering all that must be covered, I could see why you would worry. The money is a concern for most people. These treatments are not cheap! However, they are worth it when you can afford them!

Oh boy! A tooth extraction! What a treat! I may have to get one, too. I either need a root canal or extraction on this one molar. I need to see my doctor and ask her what she thinks. Due to my possibly having Lyme, extraction is probably the smartest option.

Dear Kat,

I have been eating chocolate as well! It is my diet plan. If I eat some chocolate everyday, I do not go crazy and eat a ton of other things I do not really want. Even so, I need to cut out the sugar. The refined stuff is especially bad for me!

I am glad you were a considerate smoker. My father is selfish. He knew my asthma could not tolerate it. I do not see why I should have to leave the room in the midst of a show or a meal because he wants to smoke. I also do not feel I should have to get Cancer because of it.

My grandmother died of lung cancer five years before I was born. That increases my risk as it is. Do not feel bad about using Nicorette. Going cold turkey is tough. If the gum makes it easier, I say do it!

Dear Patti,

I hope Donna does well, too. These Lyme symptoms come on at the worst times. They are always making things more difficult than they need to be. Celiac does as well. It would be nice to be a normal person sometimes.

Dear Nikki,

My Dad will probably never quit! My mother quit some years back. She and my grandpa made a deal. If she quit smoking the cigarettes, he would stop smoking his pipe. They both quit. As you said, the ten pounds is easier to lose than lung cancer. Mom did not have a patch at the time, though.

Dear tom,

It is too bad you cannot walk barefoot among the beaches. Of course, you have to be careful. Glass and everything else probably is laying around from disrespectful individuals who care nothing about the Earth. They throw trash anywhere. Only the wildlife suffers, not the people responsible.

Dear Claire,

A spiritual retreat would be nice! I am sure you will have a wonderful time! Meditation is good for everyone. Looking inward is a helpful tool. This is one of my Ten Commandments of Thyself, which is "Thou shalt take time for personal growth."

Dear Carla,

I did not do well on Echinacea either! :o I actually got worse with the cold I had at the time. They say if you are allergic to astar plants not to use it. My immune system has never been good. I am sure the Celiac caused most of that. Lyme may be adding to it.

Dear Rachel,

Your LED appointment was probably great! Just update it when you are ready! I know you might be drained. I am glad you did not go crazy despite being unable to use electronics and things.

Sometimes, a day with quiet is nice. There are times I am ready to bash the phone because it rings so much and it is so loud!

You sure have to avoid a lot after the LED treatments! I had no idea some of that other stuff was not allowed. I understood why the electronics are not allowed. I am a bit confused about the others. The items you are sensitized to makes sense, but the spices I am curious about. What is wrong with cinnamon, peppermint, and spearmint?

Dear Judy,

How are you? Wow, I cannot believe all that must be avoided after those LED treatments either! It almost sounds impossible. Those things are everywhere! I think I would go nuts without being on the computer.

Dear Laura,

So, what have you been up to? Busy as a bee, I bet! I do not know how you do it. I think I would die. Somedays, I am lucky to have the energy to chew! What all meds are you taking now?

Sincerely,

Jin

Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.

Navigating medication safety with Celiac disease can be incredibly stressful, especially when dealing with asthma and severe allergies on top of it. While I don't have personal experience with the HealthA2Z brand of cetirizine, your caution is absolutely warranted. The inactive ingredients in pills, known as excipients, are often where gluten can be hidden, and since the FDA does not require gluten-free labeling for prescription or over-the-counter drugs, the manufacturer's word is essential. The fact that you cannot get a clear answer from Allegiant Health is a significant red flag; a company that is confident its product is gluten-free will typically have a customer service protocol to answer that exact question. In situations like this, the safest course of action is to consider this product "guilty until proven innocent" and avoid it. A better alternative would be to ask your pharmacist or doctor to help you identify a major national brand of cetirizine (like Zyrtec) whose manufacturer has a verified, publicly stated gluten-free policy for that specific medication. It's not worth the risk to your health when reliable, verifiable options are almost certainly available to you. You can search this site for USA prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

What you're describing is indeed familiar to many in the Celiac community, especially in the early stages of healing. When the intestinal villi are damaged from Celiac disease, they struggle to properly digest and absorb fats, a condition known as bile acid malabsorption. This can cause exactly the kind of cramping and spasms you're seeing, as undigested fats can irritate the sensitive gut lining. It is highly plausible that her reactions to dairy and eggs are linked to their higher fat content rather than the proteins, especially since she tolerates lean chicken breast. The great news is that for many, this does improve with time. As her gut continues to heal on a strict gluten-free diet, her ability to produce the necessary enzymes and bile to break down fats should gradually return, allowing her to slowly tolerate a wider variety of foods. It's a slow process of healing, but your careful approach of focusing on low-fat, nutrient-dense foods like seeds and avocado is providing her system the best possible environment to recover. Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article may be helpful: Thank you for sharing your story—it's a valuable insight for other parents navigating similar challenges.

I had a very rough month after diagnosis. No exaggeration, lost so much inflammatory weight, I looked like a bag of bones, underneath i had been literally starving to death. I did start feeling noticeably better after a month of very strict control of my kitchen and home. What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? I ignored my doc and ate oats, yes they were gluten free, but some brands are at the higher end of gluten free. Lots of celics can eat Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats, but not me. I can now eat them, but they have to be grown and processed according to the "purity protocol" methods. I mail order them, Montana Gluten-Free brand. A food and symptoms and activities log can be helpful in tracking down issues. You might be totally aware, but I have to mention about the risk of airborne gluten. As the doc that diagnosed me warned . . Remember eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all lead to your stomach and intestines.  Are you getting any cross contamination? Airborne gluten? Any pets eating gluten (they eat it, lick themselves, you pet them...)? Any house remodeling? We live in an older home, always fixing something. I've gotten glutened from the dust from cutting into plaster walls, possibly also plywood (glues). The suggestions by many here on vitamin supplements also really helped me. I had some lingering allergies and asthma, which are now 99% gone. I was taking Albuterol inhaler every hour just to breathe, but thiamine in form of benfotiamine kicked that down to 1-2 times a day within a few days of starting it. Also, since cutting out inflammatory seed oils (canola, sunflower, grapeseed, etc) and cooking with real olive oil, avocado oil, ghee, and coconut oil, I have noticed even greater improvement overall and haven't used the inhaler in months! It takes time to weed out everything in your life that contains gluten, and it takes awhile to heal and rebuild your health. At first it's mentally exhausting, overwhelming, even obsessive, but it gets better and second nature.
