I'd be interested in hearing about the humaworm and what she thinks will work for you. Is she going to test the different herbs in that to help come up with what you should order?

Yes, Mom has an appointment next Tuesday, so I'll be tagging along then. Mom wanted to do diatomatius earth internally for the parasites, but I managed to convince her that we should test first, and it turns out it would just tear me apart now.

Doesn't Kyolic Garlic have wheat in it? My sister jokes that I eat enough garlic to ward off an army of vampires!

Oh, Naturopath also tested for mercury toxicity and I'm clean, thankfully!

Sherry...I also didnt have any binders on board at the time I was eating all that garlic. It could have been targeting the yeast and parasites and in the process dumping metals into my system. I'm not sure exactly what was going on but I was pushing it because back then I was only thinking about killing yeast. I thought *everything* was die-off.

Not any that I've ever taken. Its pretty clean...just organic aged garlic. I gotta look at the bottle but I wouldnt have bought anything that contained wheat. I totally scrutinize labels.

Kinda funny considering I didnt care what the heck I was shoving into my mouth the past couple days at work. :P

I didnt touch the bread though. :)

Mia,

How was your Thanksgiving? I miss your posts. :)

I was thinking about the stuff you react to...like doing better with white rice and not tolerating the brown. Basically not doing well with the healthier foods.

Its alot like me...I've always done REALLY bad with the healthy stuff...all the veggies, alternative flours, etc.

I'm wondering if you might benefit from low oxalate?? I dont do well with brown rice either...its higher in oxalate content...whereas white rice is low. Alot of the veggies, fruits, all nuts and most grains are high oxalate. It might be worth looking into in your case.

I can provide some links if you're interested. :)

Its working for some autistic kids and it seems to be working for me. Obviously its just a "band-aid" but it can help reduce toxicity/inflammation.

So I had an interesting Thanksgiving. I went to the family gathering with 20 people and of course I couldn't have anything other than the cranberry sauce and steamed broccoli with NOTHING on it!!! LOL!! Everyone felt really badly though and requested that I tell them what I avoid so they can accommodate my needs. My concern is that I get sick really easily and I don't want to be their guinea pig while trying to get the gluten FREE thing right. My question is...what should I do? They said they would have not stuffed the turkey because then I would have been able to eat, but I am so worried about CC.

And, my grandma bought Pamela's gluten-free df cookies, but they had soy in them! I felt so bad! The thing is I don't really expect them to meet my crazy dietary restrictions...at all, but they really want to. Any ideas? (Sorry for the irrelevant post...well, it's about MULTIPLE food intolerances...lol :D)

Other than that, I feel awful again today. It sucks going through this. And, I'm not even treating anything substantial. The abx are KILLING my stomach. Does anyone else experience that with abx and Lyme? UGH!

Ok, the garlic is definitely working, saw the first long gross thing this morning. ..and I had barely taken the pumpkin seeds and pineapple so it couldn't have been that.

Yuk, probably more to come, but I am looking forward to the possible benefits!!

OMG...yesterday was the first time I didnt come home for lunch! I had lunch at work....with everyone else....like a "normal" person! :o

I'm glad you were able to enjoy some food with the rest of the bunch.

As long as you don't overdo it, it sounds like you're slowly progressing to the point where you can do that more often. Don't push it though you hear! ;) We don't want to add more of a burden to your body when we are trying to get these metals reduced.

I don't have any ideas. :( The thing is I believe most of these intolerances will clear up once the lyme is addressed......so the limitations aside from gluten and maybe dairy (just because that's not all that good for you) would be gone.

We are taking chlorella so hopefully this won't be a problem for us. I don't know that Seth would like all the garlic in my system though.

You all have me very interested in this Humaworm. I'm leery of seeing it working though :blink: Also, we plan to try to get pregnant again in about 3 months. I wonder if it would be ok for me to do that in the meantime?

Yay for normal food! :D:P

Kassandra,

I know what you mean, we went over to our next door neighbor's and I just brought all of our own foods. She's a nurse and was very worried about CCing our stuff (new nothing about Celiac, but it's a start!) so we put it on a different table than the rest of the food. Hopefully all of these will clear up after your lyme's gone, maybe you'll be eating "normal" like Rachel by next year? :P

I'm feeling very discouraged at the moment. :( At the appointment I found out that I'd developed a sensitivity to dairy, mainly because I've been using it so much, and a sensitivity to chocolate, because it was out of my diet for about two weeks. I'm staking so much on the lyme right now. My metal levels are fine, I don't have candida or parasites other than these arthropods. I really can't face having my body acting like this for the rest of my life (I'm only 17, for goodness sake!), but what say do I have in that? :(

Ok, mini rant over (maybe there's some merit to me going on lithium like Mom and Naturopath want me to ). :)

I don't see that it would hurt.....it's only for a month and then you could take a break until some future time. At least you could clear out some of these guys.

I'm still debating the garlic.....for Seth's (still breastfeeding) and for the metals the worms release. I was told to take 10 chlorella (for me) before and after my tooth removal so I wonder if I could up my chlorella to 20 a day instead of 15, plus taking 10 close to when I take the garlic.

Any thoughts anyone......

I thought you looked young. I believe you and Kassandra are the same age.

I do think you're lyme is starting to cause food problems. Seems to be the way it works. <_<

I wouldn't go on lithium if you don't need to. Any psychological things can be attributed to lyme as well as gluten. How long have you been gluten free?

Quick update from Charlie.

His sister is back in the states. Her procedure went well. She developed pnuemonia afterwards and had to stay longer because of that. This is the first time she's been pain free since her teens. If anyone wants more info pm me and I'll send the info that Charlie gave me.

ShadowSwallow Newbie

Andrea,

But would lyme cause all of those problems by itself? At this point it looks like I don't have any coinfections, at least in my intestines.

I've been gluten-free three months. The naturopath has found that it would be beneficial for me to go on it for about 6wks... I'd rather not, and we need to hunt down a gluten-free natural source, but at this point it seems like a patch since what I've been taking so far (St John's Wort) is becoming far less effective.

Your plan for taking chorella sounds like a good idea to me. :)

Wonderful news on Charlie's sister! :D

mftnchn Explorer

Andrea, that sounds like it could work. Can you add charcoal? Re Seth, you might just have to do a trial. Does he have a longer period of time in the day where he doesn't nurse? Maybe you could figure out how to time it so he would be less bothered?

I found the pumpkin seeds whirled in water in the blender quite palatable, tasted like sunflower seeds. Then whirled some fresh pineapple with water and made a juice/puree and that was quite tasty. It looks like on some sites you just grind up the whole seeds, hull and all. I bought shelled ones, we'll see how it works. I am going to continue on with 20-30 seeds a day, for a couple of weeks I think.

What is interesting is that I am quite bloated after, and starting to feel like I am going to herx on this. So thanks for reminding me about these horrible things releasing mercury.

So, since I don't have chlorella here, I'll step up the charcoal.

Oh also, the pumpkin seed apparently paralyzes but doesn't kill the worms (at least tapeworms). So you are supposed to take a mild laxative. I looked over the list of possibilities I found online and chose to try licorice tea. Maybe the laxative will help with the mercury.

I bought some licorice root here, a very common and cheap Chinese medicinal herb, and boiled a tablespoon in a couple of cups of water for 20-30 minutes. It tasted quite good, I like licorice, and I already know that it helps my stomach.

At least all this doesn't cost much!!

mftnchn Explorer

Andrea, by the way, I forget what items your family can and cannot eat, but I wonder if you have tried finding anything at the Chinese markets in Portland, and whether it is cheaper. There's probably some in Vancouver too, but I haven't looked.

If not, when I get home I'll be checking them out and can let you know what I find. I can read the Chinese, so that makes it easier for me to find stuff.

Do you think Vit C would work for clearing the system like a laxative? We have flax seeds which I could take as well. I was just planning on doing the garlic. I may have to find some licorice tea though if the flax doesn't work.

Seth goes 11-12 hours through the night so I'll probably take the garlic sometime after dinner. Can you take it with food or does it have to be by itself?

mftnchn Explorer

I didn't notice about whether you take it with food or without. I've followed with a little food sometimes, to help with the taste in my mouth. I figure by itself might be more impactful when it gets to the intestines.

It seems from what I read any laxative is fine. Castor oil was suggested several places. I just picked out the licorice from the list. I don't know how it will work.

Lots of water was mentioned too.

I wonder if you could find any info about how long the garlic would impact your milk. Wonder if it would help to pump once? My allergist told me that foods stay in our systems for 4 days, but there might be like a bell curve thing in terms of the amounts at various times.

Seems up to a week. They just mention avoiding garlic (along with other similar foods) for the first 2 months.

I'll try it. I'll just have to play it by ear and hope he doesn't get slammed with more mercury. If I start having any symptoms I'll stop and go that route next year.

I'll have to talk to hubby more and see if he thinks I should wait. Affecting myself is one thing but affecting him even more than I am now, is another.

mftnchn Explorer

yes, I wonder what the amount of problem would be with the mercury release?

CarlaB Enthusiast
Carla---yep the humaworm would be easier, just hard to get for me now. Thought I'd try this--might relieve some of the parasitic load at least.

Birdy, sorry it wasn't so pleasant, but way to go for standing up for your own wellness and treatment! Maybe it will challenge her to research.

It IS a good idea! I hope it works for you! :)

Birdy, my LLMD is of the opinion that you have to beat down the bacterial load before the herbs will work. I plan on getting on the Cowden Protocol eventually, you can read about it at nutramedix's website.

And, yes, the Lyme can cause all that. However, Lyme usually doesn't exist alone. Lyme patients typically have things like heavy metal toxicity, or other imbalances, like in the gut. I think your naturopath will be excellent in helping you with these things, but I think an LLMD would be a good idea for the Lyme. Hopefully, your naturopath will be willing to work with an LLMD.

I'm on vacation now. :)

YAY! But it sounds like you aren't ready to make a habit of it. ;)

I didnt touch the bread though. :)

I made all of Thanksgiving dinner gluten-free, except for the green bean casserole. BUT, I did have my turkey sandwiches on good ol' Wonder Bread! :D My tummy is doing fine!

So I had an interesting Thanksgiving. I

Just tell them how difficult it was for you to cook gluten-free and that you don't want them to have to learn all the pitfalls of it just to cook for you a couple times per year. That when your food sensitivities are better, you will participate more fully .... and if you still can't eat like normal, at that point you will tell them how to cook for you. :)

I'm not surprised your stomach is killing you. If you're killing bugs there, it's bound to. I had terrible stomach pain until I treated the Bartonella. Are you taking a probiotic?

Ok, the garlic is definitely working, saw the first long gross thing this morning. ..and I had barely taken the pumpkin seeds and pineapple so it couldn't have been that.

If you use it for a month, it sounds like you'll have plenty of time off it before you start trying. I'd be taking lots of chlorella if you do take it, to bind the mercury that's released.

Quick update from Charlie.

I'd like it. How is he doing?

So you are supposed to take a mild laxative. I looked over the list of possibilities I found online and chose to try licorice tea. Maybe the laxative will help with the mercury.
My kids LOVE licorice tea! They drink it all winter. It tastes like sugar water.

Adam started the Humaworm today. He's feeling very fatigued this evening. I had him take some chlorella. I had a feeling he was pretty toxic. :)

mftnchn Explorer

Andrea, maybe the pumpkin seed plus laxative would be better, as it expels them live...at least some of them. I can't find info about what actually happens when they die re the mercury.

Rachel--24 Collaborator
YAY! But it sounds like you aren't ready to make a habit of it. ;)

Ummm...definately NOT...unless of course I wanna have major pain, brainfog and lots of missed work. :P

I've been doing so well...havent missed any work in months....well except for that one incident where my mom poisoned me with the carpet chemicals. <_<

Other than that I've been doing wonderfully. :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator
But would lyme cause all of those problems by itself? At this point it looks like I don't have any coinfections, at least in my intestines.

Personally, I dont think anyone has chronic Lyme without all of the additional problems which come with it. Chronic Lyme is multifactorial....its never *just* Lyme. Heavy metals are nearly always a part of the picture and coinfections are the rule rather than the exception.

It takes a very knowledgeable Dr. (usually an LLMD) to get a good picture of everything you might be dealing with.

confusedks Enthusiast

Birdy,

We are the same age! I'm 17 too!!! :D It does sound like you need an LLMD to work with you maybe along side your naturopath? I have yet to see one, but all the naturopaths I have been to don't even really want to think about Lyme...or don't know enough about it and I don't want them to learn on me.

Carla,

That's what I was thinking of telling them about the diet. Thanks for the idea.

I am taking a probiotic. It's not super strong because we were worried that I wouldn't be able to tolerate it if it was too strong. I am eventually going to look into the really strong one you take at some point.

Everyone,

The abx are making me feel terrible. I am unlike Carla, usually when I'm not online, I am really feeling terrible...no strength to get up and go on the computer. :(

As I am typing this, my skin is getting really splotchy and itchy so I hope this isn't the beginning of an allergic reaction.:( Ugh, I am so tired of all of this crap! Not to mention my mom had to walk with me up the stairs to get to bed tonight because I am so weak. This is terrible.

Kassandra

mftnchn Explorer

Kassandra, that isn't great to hear about the skin itching. Are you pushing the water, and taking charcoal in between?

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis after years of suffering without answers. I lost my mind. I lost my job. I lost so much time. I lost Me. Conventional doctors are opulent come near me and the one who did sat across the room, misdiagnosed me, pumped me full of steroids which collapsed my entire hip for 6 months. So without answers I began my holistic journey. Fast forward a couple of years and still struggling with a mysterious whole body itchy, crawling “skin hell”, perfect teeth now deteriorating, thick hair now thinning rapidly and no more than a day or 2 at most relief….An acquaintance opened up a functional medicine practice. Cash only, I found a way. Within a month tests clearly showing my off the charts gluten allergy/sensitivity as well as the depletion of vital nutrients due to leaky gut and intestinal damage. dermatitis herpetiformis was more than likely what I was experiencing with my skin. I was happy. I thought this is easy, eat healthy Whole Foods, follow the diet restrictions and I finally get to heal and feel confident and like myself again very soon! 😔 Supplements are very pricey but I got them and began my healing. Which leads to the other major issue: not working, stay at home Mom of young kids, entirely financially dependent on my man of 7 plus years. He’s never been supportive of anything I’ve ever done or been thru. He controls everything. I’m not given much money ever at a time and when he does leave money it’s only enough to possibly get gas. His excuse is that I’ll spend it on other things. So my “allowance” is inconsistent and has conditions. He withholds money from me as punishment for anything he wants. Since being diagnosed, he’s gained a new control tactic to use as punishment. He now is in control of when I get to eat. He asked for proof of my diagnosis and diet bc he said I made it up just to be able to eat expensive organic foods. Then after I sent him my file from my doctor he then said she wasn’t a real doctor. 😡. I go days upon days starving, sometimes breaking down and eating things I shouldn’t bc I’m so sick then I pay horribly while he gets annoyed and angry bc I’m not keeping up with all the duties I’m supposed to be doing. His abuse turns full on when I’m down and it’s in these desperate times when I need his support and care the most that I’m punished with silence, being starved, ignored, belittled. He will create more of a mess just bc I’m unable to get up and clean so that when I am better, I’m so overwhelmed with chores to catch up that the stress causes me to go right back into a flare from hell and the cycle repeats. I’m punished for being sick. I’m belittled for starving and asking for healthy clean water. I’m purposely left out of his life. He won’t even tell me he’s going to the grocery or to get dinner bc he doesn’t want me to ask him for anything. I have no one. I have nothing. Im not better. My supplements ran out and I desperately need Vitamin D3 and a methylated B complex at the very minimal just to function….he stares at me blankly…no, a slight smirk, no words. He’s happiest when im miserable and I am miserable.  this is so long and im condensing as much as I can but this situation is so complicated and disgusting. And it’s currently my life. The “IT” girl, the healthy, beautiful, perfect skin, perfect teeth, thick and curly locks for days, creative and talented IT girl….now I won’t even leave this house bc Im ashamed of what this has dont to my body, my skin. Im disgusted. The stress is keeping me from healing and I think he knows that and that’s why he continues to keep me in that state. He doesn’t want me confident or successful. He doesn’t want me healed and healthy bc then how would he put the blame of all his problems on me? This journey has been hell and I’ve been in Hell before. I’ve been killed by an ex, I’ve been raped, robbed, held hostage, abused beyond nightmares but the cruelty I’ve experienced from him bc of this disease is the coldest I’ve ever experienced. I’ve wanted to give up. Starving and in tears, desperate…I found a local food pantry in our small town so I reached out just saying I had Celiac and was on hard times. This woman is blessing me daily with prepared gluten free meals, donations, educational info, people who know this disease and how they manage life and the blessings just keep coming. But it’s overwhelming and I feel like I don’t deserve it at all. He just glared and I know he’s going to sabotage it somehow. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m so broken and just want peace and healing.

@Colleen H   I am just curious,  when you were tested for coeliac disease, did the doctors find out if you had any deficiencies? Sometimes muscle pain can be caused by certain deficiencies, for example, magnesium, vitamin D, calcium, and potassium.   Might be worth looking into having some more tests.  Pins and needles can be neuropathy, again caused by deficiencies, such as iron and B12,  which can be reversed if these deficiencies are addressed. In the UK where I live we are usually only tested for iron, B12 and vitamin D deficiencies at diagnosis.   I was very iron anemic and supplementation made a big difference.  B12 was low normal, but in other countries the UK's low normal would be considered a deficiency.  My vitamin D was low normal, and I've been supplementing ever since (when I remember to take it!) My pins and needles definitely started to improve when my known deficiencies were addressed.  My nutritionist also gave me a broad spectrum supplement which really helped, because I suspect I wasn't just deficient in what I mention above but in many other vitamins and minerals.  But a word of warning, don't take iron unless blood tests reveal you actually need it, and if you are taking it your levels must be regularly monitored because too much can make you ill.  (And if you are currently taking iron, that might actually be making your stomach sore - it did mine, so my GP changed my iron supplementation to a gentler form, ferrous gluconate). Lastly, have you been trying to take anything to lessen the pain in your gut?  I get a sore stomach periodically, usually when I've had too much rich food, or when I have had to take an aspirin or certain antibiotics, or after glutening.  When this happens, I take for just a few days a small daily dose of OTC omeprazole.  I also follow a reflux or gastritis diet. There are lots online but the common denominators to these diets is you need to cut out caffeine, alcohol, rich, spicy, acidic food etc and eat small regularly spaced meals.   When I get a sore stomach, I also find it helpful to drink lots of water.  I also find hot water with a few slices of ginger very soothing to sip, or camomile tea.  A wedge pillow at night is good for reflux. Also,  best not to eat a meal 2-3 hours before going to bed. If the stomach pain is getting worse, though, it would be wise to see the doctor again. I hope some of this helps. Cristiana
