The problem areas correlate with meridians if I'm not mistaken. The kids had lots of tooth things come up with ASYRA, I forget about me and Mitch.

I specifically asked to her muscle test me for cavitations and then the xray the dentist wanted also showed them.....because he knows what he's looking for.

My root canal was number 3 and I had a nasty cavitation under that one, but my ASYRA came up with #5, 6 and 11 for disturbances. Those refer to the meridians they are connected to.

Oh, then it could be as it sounds like the opposite side corresponds!

Okay, I already wrote and mentioned this to Dr. E and asked for an appointment on the 25th if at all possible.

Andrea, was it the dentist you mentioned who did the x-rays? There's no one in Portland that does that? How hard is it to get into the one in Seattle?

My dentist doesn't do xrays himself. He had us go to some other place for a panoramic, they did the xrays and then we waited 10-20 minutes and they gave them to us to take to the appointment. He's easy to get into for the most part. I think the hours were 9-5 M-Th.

There are dentists in Portland who can do this, but they were more expensive. The one I'm seeing told me I don't need more crowns which I had thought I did (from the previous dentist who did my crowns) so I was thinking it would be a lot more than it's going to be. I know of 2 in Portland that I'd checked into. I can dig up the names if you'd like. I do remember the business name of one of them though.

I'm sick of sleep problems. Dr H gave me the highest dose of Lunesta and it has done NOTHING!! I'm still wide awake hours after taking it. :( I have to call tomorrow and ask for something else. I just need something to GET me to sleep.

(Sorry for the vent...this is just getting old ;) )

Andrea,

I think my current dentist did a panoramic view last winter, do you think that would be enough if I ask for copies? So that is how the diagnosis is made, just looking at the x-rays?

Yes, I'd appreciate the names if you can find them. Portland would be much easier for me, but I will need to figure out the projected cost and whether I have enough coverage. I also need to ask if this is for medical reasons if it might have more coverage than simply dental work.

I can't get to the website of the Seattle person. :(

Thanks for your ideas and help.

Re: digestive enzymes I take prescription pancreatic enzymes, 2 with each meal. The current ones are called pangestyme UL20. Then I take Carb Digest (Kirkman) and Digest Plus (Professional Formulas). So I am on a LOT of enzymes.

Kassandra, have you had neurotransmitter levels done yet? I was surprised to get a huge help with sleeping from taking Travacor, which is a neurotransmitter support. Insomnia got worse for awhile last month but now is better again.

Try the Sonata I just started. I take it at 3AM when I wake up and it works for fast I can't even remember if I got up, I have to really think about it.

I'm taking two of my girls up to Akron (4 hours away) for a professional women's softball game with some of their teammates. I think it will be a fun trip. My girls are on a great team where the coaches really teach them. They play our local league, but are not part of it .... they are undefeated. :) Anyway, we're spending the night there, so I'll catch up tomorrow.

on an empty stomach and then wait 20+ minutes to eat anything.

Rachel here is the info about ultraform. I tried to send you the whole list of stuff that was recommended but your inbox was full.

If anyone else wants me to figure out if i really need the other stuff recommended, send me a pm and ill send you the list. I just didnt want to list it all on here.

The panaromic should still be good from last year. You need to have someone who's able to read them though, so you will need to ask if they do cavitations. I had found a person in Spokane that has a cavitat machine (it has mixed reviews) but I don't think they are common.

I'll message you the dentists. I'll have to see if I still have the links. One of them was on a list of practitioners that my doctor had given me.

April and Rachel,

Which ones do you recommend in digestive enzymes.

Has anyone taken ultra form, that is one that was suggested by the hair people to help move metals out. But wasnt sure if i wanted to take it yet.

paula

Paula,

I take Enzymedica - "Digest". Now that I am used to that I am going to try "Digest Gold" next time. It has a few more enzymes in it. I like the formula because it has enzymes to digest every part of a meal. Carbs, proteins, ect. They sent me 2 celiac disease's which I am learning from with my order. Then later I saw it in the local health food store :)

Sherry

No I don't think so. Every time I have more tests done, it just costs more money for supplements. <_< I never used to have insomnia problems, but it's just because I'm not physically active enough. When I was in Vegas, I slept fine (with only melatonin) because we had a busy day or two.

dlp252 Apprentice

Yeah, the neurotransmitters are definitely at least part of the problem for my insomnia. Supplementing (yeah, you're right about all the tests leading to more supplements, lol) for the specific imbalances of neurotransmitters has seemed to help a little with it. I know the imbalance is caused by the lyme, mold or metals, but at least supplementing the imbalance is letting me get a little more sleep until we can fix the other stuff. But, the supplements are definitely NOT cheap!

Yea, the supplements are SO expensive! And, like I said, I've never had insomnia problems and don't think this is a Lyme symptom for me. It's mainly because I don't have enough energy to get tired enough to fall asleep. Catch 22.

mftnchn Explorer

Kassandra, I wonder if you could schedule a late afternoon walk or something. It might not need to be vigorous exercise, but just a little more active to help your body clock?

Thanks Andrea for the info.

Sherry

Also, ditto on the expense of supplements!! Expense of all of these treatments!

Hey, the VCS people wrote back to me and said after I have my left eye checked, reply to their email and they'll credit me with a test to take it over again! That was nice of them!!

When I was in Vegas, I slept fine (with only melatonin) because we had a busy day or two.

Could also be that something in your home "environment" is contributing to the insomnia. If you slep fine elsewhere....and are never able to do that at home...it could be something you are exposed to. Just a thought.

About neurotransmitters. Hmmm....I guess my test kit for that is sitting in my closet at home...for almost 2 years now.

Yeah...I think I forgot to take that one.

The Organic Acid Test actually checks neurotransmitter metabolism....so that should tell us something when I get those results back. I would have to say that my main symptom associated with neurotransmitters would be an inability to handle stress. I really dont have any sleep disturbances after removing so many things from my diet.

Everyone,

My porphyrin results are in....I dont know anything yet because when I called the office the results had *just* arrived and Dr. S. has to reveiw them first.

I requested a blooddraw for the copper/zinc testing, the OAT kit from Great Plains and the CDSA from Genova. I'm told they have the kits and I'm scheduled to go in for the bloodraw (and all the rest) tomorrow....providing that Dr. S. gives his approval.

So hopefully I'll get the porphyrin results when I go in tomorrow. I'm really nervous though!

AndreaB Contributor

Can't wait to hear the results Rachel.

Hopefullyt hey'll approve the other tests for you too. :)

I don't think that's the case. When I was in school, I was always able to sleep here at home without problems. When I have sleep problems, it usually doesn't matter *where* I am. They follow me. :P

Kassandra, are you getting out in the sun during the day at all? One thought is to make sure you get sun, and then make sure at night the room is totally darkened. This is one part of dealing with jet leg, and is about melatonin levels...

Just a wild idea.

Rachel, I am really looking forward to hearing about your results.

Rachel,

I cant wait to hear the results. I am going to make it an point to check email many times today lol.

Everyone.

My aunt is doing better. She is still in the hospital and they are still debating on dialysis. I told her some stuff to do to detox her organs and i hope she will listen and do them. The dr.s said she was 24 hours away from dying when she came into the hospital.

I am just trying to figure out what next step I should take. I know since all the mold is out of the house I am feeling somuch better. But i know i need to work on things that made me flunk the vcs test, i just havent wanted to do any research the last week. I also know i need to move this arsenic out of my body.

We are just doing so much work around the house that I havent wanted to do anything about my health cause then i will just be so overwhelmed, and you all know what happens when i get overwhelmed lol.

Sherry,

When you re-do the vcs test please dont forget to let us know how you did. Im thinking I will re-do it next month just to see if taking the mold out of my house, will help my biotoxins.

carla,

Hope you having a great time with the girls.

Kassandra,

Have you ever tried Calorad is a collagen formula which contains naturally occurring amino acids.

These amino acids can support the strengthening of the body's muscles and

tissues while helping the body maintain a healthy weight. This blend of amino

acids works best to support connective tissue healing while you sleep. It is

important to not eat or drink anything accept water after dinner (it is ok to take

medication with it). Take the Calorad right before you go to sleep. (it works

while your body is asleep)

Calorad can be helpful for:

thin hair and nails, people needing to firm and tone, chronic pain, weight loss,

lean muscle mass, depression, anxiety, insomnia and more.. It was one of my supplements on my hair test. It is supposed to help with sleep

I need to research it more before I order it. But just didnt know if it is one that you have tried or not.

I haven't tried it before. Dr H suggested something called HerbSom for sleep, but he wants me to take 5 caps at bedtime and one bottle (which is $30) only has 30 caps. So it would be SO expensive.

I will look into Calorad. Haven't heard of it before. The thing is Dr H's PA keeps wanting to call in anti-depressants that help with sleep. I was on remeron for about a week, and it made me SO depressed. I don't want something for depression...just sleep.

Then, last night I took the Lunesta at about 9.30 and I fell asleep by 10.15! :o So I don't get it. I wonder if I've been taking it too late and my body is too "awake."

Hiya not written for a while. Just got some of my result back, I have HIGH levels of elastase in my stools, but am unsure what this means. Anyone know? I have been looking on line but can only find explanations for low levels.

Hi everyone,

I came across this website protocol for CFIDS Open Original Shared Link and the zero-based protocol. What was fascinating to me was the first step is to supplement deficiencies, especially Vitamin D. That may need to be done slowly in some people. The target level of D is higher than most, at 108.

But anyway, the protocol says this brings on a herx and you keep going up on D until you stop herxing.

So apparently there could be something to the idea I have had that my current symptoms could be related to D.

Sherry

Hi Guys, I'm back. :) It was a lot of fun and I kept up. :D

I hope all you herxers feel better soon.

Hi @Dizzyma I note what @trents has commented about you possibly posting from the UK.  Just to let you know that am a coeliac based in the UK, so if that is the case, do let me know if can help you with any questions on the NHS provision for coeliacs.    If you are indeed based in the UK, and coeliac disease is confirmed, I would thoroughly recommend you join Coeliac UK, as they provide a printed food and drink guide and also a phone app which you can take shopping with you so you can find out if a product is gluten free or not. But one thing I would like to say to you, no matter where you live, is you mention that your daughter is anxious.  I was always a bit of a nervous, anxious child but before my diagnosis in mid-life my anxiety levels were through the roof.   My anxiety got steadily better when I followed the gluten-free diet and vitamin and mineral deficiencies were addressed.  Anxiety is very common at diagnosis, you may well find that her anxiety will improve once your daughter follows a strict gluten-free diet. Cristiana

Welcome to the celic.com community @Dizzyma! I'm assuming you are in the U.K. since you speak of your daughter's celiac disease blood tests as "her bloods".  Has her physician officially diagnosed her has having celiac disease on the results of her blood tests alone? Normally, if the ttg-iga blood test results are positive, a follow-up endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining to check for damage would be ordered to confirm the results of "the bloods". However if the ttg-iga test score is 10x normal or greater, some physicians, particularly in the U.K., will dispense with the endoscopy/biopsy. If there is to be an endoscopy/biopsy, your daughter should not yet begin the gluten free diet as doing so would allow healing of the small bowel lining to commence which may result in a biopsy finding having results that conflict with the blood work. Do you know if an endoscopy/biopsy is planned? Celiac disease can have onset at any stage of life, from infancy to old age. It has a genetic base but the genes remain dormant until and unless triggered by some stress event. The stress event can be many things but it is often a viral infection. About 40% of the general population have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. So, for most, the genes remain dormant.  Celiac disease is by nature an autoimmune disorder. That is to say, gluten ingestion triggers an immune response that causes the body to attack its own tissues. In this case, the attack happens in he lining of the small bowel, at least classically, though we now know there are other body systems that can sometimes be affected. So, for a person with celiac disease, when they ingest gluten, the body sends attacking cells to battle the gluten which causes inflammation as the gluten is being absorbed into the cells that make up the lining of the small bowel. This causes damage to the cells and over time, wears them down. This lining is composed of billions of tiny finger-like projections and which creates a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients from the food we eat. This area of the intestinal track is where all of our nutrition is absorbed. As these finger-like projections get worn down by the constant inflammation from continued gluten consumption before diagnosis (or after diagnosis in the case of those who are noncompliant) the efficiency of nutrient absorption from what we eat can be drastically reduced. This is why iron deficiency anemia and other nutrient deficiency related medical problems are so common in the celiac population. So, to answer your question about the wisdom of allowing your daughter to consume gluten on a limited basis to retain some tolerance to it, that would not be a sound approach because it would prevent healing of the lining of her small bowel. It would keep the fires of inflammation smoldering. The only wise course is strict adherence to a gluten free diet, once all tests to confirm celiac disease are complete.

Hi all, I have so many questions and feel like google is giving me very different information. Hoping I may get some more definite answers here. ok, my daughter has been diagnosed as a coeliac as her bloods show anti TTG antibodies are over 128. We have started her  on a full gluten free diet. my concerns are that she wasn’t actually physically sick on her regular diet, she had tummy issues and skin sores. My fear is that she will build up a complete intolerance to gluten and become physically sick if she has gluten. Is there anything to be said for keeping a small bit of gluten in the diet to stop her from developing a total intolerance?  also, she would be an anxious type of person, is it possible that stress is the reason she has become coeliac? I read that diagnosis later in childhood could be following a sickness or stress. How can she have been fine for the first 10 years and then become coeliac? sorry, I’m just very confused and really want to do right by her. I know a coeliac and she has a terrible time after she gets gluttened so just want to make sure going down a total gluten free road is the right choice. thank you for any help or advise xx
