I have not been posting much, this flu has completely wiped me out. So I haven't been to the store or able to cook, but I had to go to work (huge project) so I went and bought lunch.

Long story short... I got a veggie burger (w/out bun) instead of a plain hamburger, even after going through the order twice with the waitress.

I consumed one forkful before realizing it. The burger contained bulgar and breadcrumbs.

This was a 1pm

I was more upset than sad. I couldn't even eat anything else. Got my money back and left. Now in the middle of having the flu I am now freaking out that my digestive issues are about to go to the n power.

In a way I guess this will be a "test" as to whether or not I have celiac disease.

Any advice or time line for bodily response? (I have been gluten free for 6 months, some blood work indicative of celiac, some not, and biopsies that are "normal")

cursing like a truck driver,

Kristina

Kristina,

I'm sorry that happened. I have no idea what to expect. I usually get severly nauseated after being glutened...like within 25 minutes or so.

Paula,

I know...between this thread and now online chatting...FORGET IT! LOL!

I also got a Yahoo messenger thing...chatting with Andrea right now, but I can't see the messages at all! Wierd! If anyone wants my name...PM me.

melmak5 Contributor

Thanks Kassandra.

I tried to puke it up, but I just couldn't.

I feel like a messed-up Mr. Wizard experimental body.

I want to chat!:lol: Stupid work firewall!:lol:

Aw Kristina, I'm so sorry that happened to you! I don't know of much to do except drink lots of water, and not even sure that would really help.

AndreaB Contributor
I blew up the microwave so i have to wait for my eggs to boil now and i need to eat.

Oops. Sorry Paula.

I want to chat!:lol: Stupid work firewall!:lol:

You just need to get on when you get home.

My daugher loves messenger......she's busy reading instead of doing her schoolwork, which she is almost done with. :D

dlp252 Apprentice

I'm a slow typist though considering that my job is typing, lol. I tried to chat once with my little cousin...I was about 5 questions behind all the time...I finally had to tell her to STOP while I caught up answering. :P

Lol Donna! Does it allow Yahoo messenger? My dad's work used to have all kinds of firewalls but he was allowed to use Yahoo for some reason.

I am pretty fast, but I have friends who type like freakin' speedsters! :D

Here's something I found about parasites and insomnia:

"Parasites produce a great deal of ammonia as their waste product. Ammonia is their equivalent of urine and it is set free in our bodies by parasites in large amounts. Ammonia is very toxic, especially to the brain. I believe this causes insomnia and other sleep problems at night and anxiety by day."

Also I found out that wormwood (humaworm ingredient) can cause insomnia.

mftnchn Explorer
I can't believe it either! :o:lol: I am a big kid at heart, so I think that helps, lol. I'll be 53!

We're almost the same, Donna. I will be too...toward the end of the year though.

That's interesting Sherry.

I had thought wormwood had a narcotic effect in the body. When I was taking wormwood/black walnut complex I always felt really fatigued.

Ok since we are talking about worms i have an question, i was just talking to my mom earlier today and she said when she was a kid she had worms and they made her sit over an bucket of hot water, but that is all she remembers, would that be pin worms or something else, and she remembers she was so sick as a child and so skinny and ill and everyone felt sorry for her. This would not be sent down to me would it?

I haven't talked much about my laser, but I use it pretty regularly. You're not supposed to do the detox stuff for 8 weeks, so I have been using the other "laser balancing" stuff.

This herx was the worst I've had in a long time. I don't know why .... but the Tindamax doesn't help! It was also my first month on Rifampin, so that could have contributed, too.

Anyway, this morning I decided to do the detox one for drugs. I feel better this afternoon and still have tomorrow to go on my Tindamax. I don't know that the drug compilation helped at all, but it didn't make me feel bad.

This laser, from what I understand, works the same as LED, but there aren't as many vials to choose from.

Well, I just thought I'd give you a laser update.

Here's info about the laser

Some here have used LED for detoxing .... I thought I'd try this laser, which is similar and something I can do at home. I thought that if I wanted to do more serious detoxing with lasers, then I could go to someone for the LED.

AndreaB Contributor

Thanks for the update on the laser Carla. :)

I'm glad they are helping you. :D

Hum, I don't know, lol. I've tried a few different chat rooms, but not Yahoo or MSN. Typing...I'm extra slow because I don't know all the shortcuts...I don't text, so I'd be typing out whole words, lol.

You must be close to my good friend (the one that I always travel with, lol). I am 6 months older than she is and she never lets me forget it.

Donna,

You'd get used to it. :P

Carla,

How many Theralac do you take in a day? We just ordered some.

CarlaB Enthusiast

And, Donna, you should have one. :)

Honestly, it's hard to tell whether I've had benefit from it or not. I know our parakeet has, LOL. That's why I wanted to start detoxing with it.

Kassandra, I take one every day.

confusedks Enthusiast

Carla,

Okay. Thanks, I was going to ask the LLMD and still will, but I was wondering how much you took. :)

Everyone,

I was just reading on LN about nightmares and it reminded me! I had another nightmare last night!! :( I was being stabbed with a knife by these two men, but then I stabbed one back and KILLED him!:lol::o Ahhh, how awful!? I don't know what the deal is with this! <_<

Hey everyone, hi everyone hi.

Well it's been 3 days, no ice cream. :D

Went for laser therapy and acupuncture yesterday. It went well.

Dr. M. says I'm going to live. That's good news huh. :)

I hate acupunture. I don't like needles at all. Some don't hurt, some do. The one he put in my labia and in my gums hurt though. Is someone else going to start to see Dr. M.? Dee was mentioning it but he says we can't talk about other patients so the

conversation ceased. I bought some dried organic apricots from him, about 3 pounds worth for constipation, some unbuffered vitamin c. Man that stuff cleaned me out today which is good I suppose.

I'm at the library. It smells sooo perfumy in herer that I can taste it yuck.

Dee was getting dizzy after the laser therapy yesterday. She had to leave the room because of all the toxins coming off my body. SHe held my hand during acupunture. Like I was having a baby or something, and my hand was sweating, she could taste my toxins. She said they taste like iron.

I will be doing ecoffees now 2 to 3 times a week. Doc wants me doing them.

Well times almost up.

Take care guys

your friend

lisa

labia? Isn't that a pretty personal area for acupuncture? :o

I'm glad you're making progress!

confusedks Enthusiast

Carla,

I thought the same thing!:o:blink: I'm hoping she meant something else!

Welcome to the celiac.com communiuty, @Matthias! Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.

The one kind of food I had been buying and eating without any worry for hidden gluten were unprocessed veggies. Well, yesterday I discovered yet another pitfall: cultivated mushrooms. I tried some new ones, Shimeji to be precise (used in many asian soup and rice dishes). Later, at home, I was taking a closer look at the product: the mushrooms were growing from a visible layer of shredded cereals that had not been removed. After a quick web research I learned that these mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a cereal-based medium like wheat bran. I hope that info his helpful to someone.

I might suggest you consider buckwheat groats. https://www.amazon.com/Anthonys-Organic-Hulled-Buckwheat-Groats/dp/B0D15QDVW7/ref=sr_1_4_pp?crid=GOFG11A8ZUMU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bk-hCrXgLpHqKS8QJnfKJLKbKzm2BS9tIFv3P9HjJ5swL1-02C3V819UZ845_kAwnxTUM8Qa69hKl0DfHAucO827k_rh7ZclIOPtAA9KjvEEYtaeUV06FJQyCoi5dwcfXRt8dx3cJ6ctEn2VIPaaFd0nOye2TkASgSRtdtKgvXEEXknFVYURBjXen1Nc7EtAlJyJbU8EhB89ElCGFPRavEQkTFHv9V2Zh1EMAPRno7UajBpLCQ-1JfC5jKUyzfgsf7jN5L6yfZSgjhnwEbg6KKwWrKeghga8W_CAhEEw9N0.eDBrhYWsjgEFud6ZE03iun0-AEaGfNS1q4ILLjZz7Fs&dib_tag=se&keywords=buckwheat%2Bgroats&qid=1769980587&s=grocery&sprefix=buchwheat%2Bgroats%2Cgrocery%2C249&sr=1-4&th=1 Takes about 10 minutes to cook. Incidentally, I don't like quinoa either. Reminds me and smells to me like wet grass seed. When its not washed before cooking it makes me ill because of saponins in the seed coat. Yes, it can be difficult to get much dietary calcium without dairy. But in many cases, it's not the amount of calcium in the diet that is the problem but the poor uptake of it. And too much calcium supplementation can interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals in general because it raises gut pH.

What you’re describing really does not read like typical IBS-D. The dramatic, rapid normalization of stool frequency and form after removing wheat, along with improved tolerance of legumes and plant foods, is a classic pattern seen in gluten-driven disease rather than functional IBS. IBS usually worsens with fiber and beans, not improves. The fact that you carry HLA-DQ2.2 means celiac disease is absolutely possible, even if it’s less common than DQ2.5, and many people with DQ2.2 present later and are under-diagnosed. Your hesitation to reintroduce gluten is completely understandable — quality of life matters — and many people in your position choose to remain strictly gluten-free and treat it as medically necessary even without formal biopsy confirmation. If and when you’re ready, a physician can help you weigh options like limited gluten challenge, serology history, or documentation as “probable celiac.” What’s clear is that this wasn’t just random IBS — you identified the trigger, and your body has been very consistent in its response.
