I Don't Know What To Do

My DD has Celiac Disease going on 3 yrs. Well, she is very bloated and always has gas. I have been told and have also read on these boards to take away soy and dairy. I have done that. I went to my Sister's this past week who has "Candida" and told me that her nutritionist said that it sounded like my DD has it too just b/c of the bloating. I have since then taken away sugars and other stuff and she's really getting upset about all of this. She's 10 and doesn't understand why she has to deal with all of this. She and I were in the kitchen earlier crying our eyes out b/c this is soooooooo overwhelming for the both of us. I was crying b/c she was crying. I hurt for her so bad.

Anyway, my quest. is, do you think I should hold off on taking away more than dairy and soy until I find out for sure that it's candida? I've got the dairy and soy free think kinda down pat but it's still hard.

Also, can someone please give me advice on some kind of sweet snack that's dairy/soy/gluten/wheat/sugar free or not sugar free. I was letting her eat the Think Thin bars but noticed they had dairy in them. Whoops!!!

I would appreciate any help I could get.

Thanks so much.

Shelly

Shelly, you and your daughter have a lot to deal with. A bloated belly could be caused by lots of things, candida being one of them. It's best not to guess at that! If it's really candida, all sweet things must go (other than stevia), including most fruits. Have her tested for candida before you do something as drastic as that. Because if it isn't candida, you are putting her through that diet for nothing, and delay finding out what the real culprit is.

Could she have Splenda if it was Candida??

Well, I don't think any children (or anybody for that matter) should use any artificial sweeteners, as they have their own problems. I've read horrorstories about Splenda (and about Aspartame/Equal), and wouldn't feed it to my kids! Stevia is a herb and harmless.

I agree with Ursala. I would talk to your doctor before you start making drastic changes to her diet. I know if the diet change is necessary than there is no choice, but this is very traumatic for kids to loose everything they enjoy (it would be for me too and I'm 32 :P ).

They both do.  The peanuts add nutrients to the treat. Tootsie Roll: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Palm Oil, Condensed Skim Milk, Cocoa, Whey, Soy Lecithin, Artificial and Natural Flavors. But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
