Good Morning everyone. Hope you all slept well. Here I am on the west coast time zone and I go to bed before the East Coast people.

It does not pay to go to sleep. Then you have to scroll several pages back on many of the threads to play catch up. Can't wait until Lynne and I go to Vegas on Thursday. I will never catch up when I get home.

OMG :lol: Am I a dork!!!!! Tavi.. so sorry... ohhhh wanted to tell everyone that if you still want your name on here but not on google... you can put your name under your picture... yep... I have mine there and when I do a search... nothing... love it

Celia:

That worked really well, so now you will know it's me! :D:D I am now back from my little trip, had a great time but sure missed all of you! It is going to take me days to read what everyone has been up to. If there are any highlights be sure to let me know!

We did go to the Outback but I have been pretty ill since we ate there. It could of been the Farmer John ham my mom put on the pizza, just looked at the label as I was eating it and saw soy sauce and wheat! :(:(

Anyway, I am glad to be back and hopefully my stomach will calm down :angry::angry:

I think "Good googly moogly" goes back a lot farther than that-- I remember my grandfather used to say it & he's been dead over 30 years... sometimes it was "Great googly moogly" if the occasion warranted! He was from Mississippi, so maybe it was a local thing...

Wow... just had the inclination to google googly & found this!

I've been slowly catching up on all the threads and trying to get order in my yard/house after the bad glutening /traveling experience. I am premature posting here, but I just wanted to say you are all the best and am so glad to know you.

Ohhh yes... and we all sit in the back of a classroom tooo :lol:

Ohhh no... you are one of us now...

OH, no, I always sat in the front row of the classroom!!! It's the only way I could pay attention!!

Hi Robbin. The Ostrich is now the mouse avatar. Celia gave it to me. Isn't Celia a real jewel and she even did the avatar.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Well, I think I may have caught up, although I do not know if I went back far enough ... well I did go back far "enough" but not maybe all the way to where I left off!

Burping contests, I don't think I've burped since going gluten-free, but prior to that, no guy could outburp me ... not that they ever knew for sure because I wouldn't burp in front of them :P But Adam would vouch for me that theirs was lame compared to mine.

Kind of funny to have a picture of an ostrich for "mouse"!!!

mouse Enthusiast

The ostrich and mouse are "buddies".

morganb Newbie

So I found where the burping conversation came from....I was trying to catch up in Rachelville when I got confused about some of the carried over burps. Someone told me it came from another thread....so it's this thread...

If this isn't the original thread...I still laughed about all the burping contest conversation.

hehe...sometimes I sat in the front, but most of the time I was in the middle....I didn't pay attention in class :P......ok, I guess I did, but I goofed around a lot

Tell them about that one class you and your friends got kicked out of ... all the honor students were asked to leave, not by the teacher, but by the other students!!!! Every day ... all semester ...

Karen,

I saw Eight Below recently too, LOVED it!! I want one of those dogs now, so beautiful...

DingoGirl Enthusiast

OMG Eight Below...my friend and her daughters left this in tears in the first 10 minutes, went into another theatre, they slipped back in for the end, said it was wonderful but once I heard that, knew I couldn't go - - all those dogs left alone!! :( Remember, this is the girl who was forbidden to watch Lassie when it was on.....got grounded from it as started sobbing madly the minute the music started....had to get myself under control to watch it and never fully did.....still walk out of movies in which animals are in peril..... :o

Just a brief post - don't know what's going on - have sunk into a pit and crawling my way out.....heinous....thought I"d never see this place again  Will get through but it will take a bit of time.

love you girls.....

Allow yourself the pit. I learned the hard way that when you talk yourself out of all your bad feelings, they just come back to haunt you later. Better to deal with it now, eat a gallon of ice cream or something, wallow in self-pity for a while. Sorry it's so hard ... but you'll move on to something better.

I got mad at God this morning very momentarily because I read a proverb or psalm, can't remember, and it said that things would be so good he'll "feed you wheat." I thought, "Great, then I'll be SICK!!" Funny how things hit us when you least expect it!

OMG Gray's Anatomy will take care of so many things.... ;) Dr. McDreamy is the new Matthew (McConnaughey) and he is my new love....

Carla - - thank you so much for those words.....and the very ironic Bible verse (I'm thinking God has a sense of humour? ) I thought I was THROUGH with all this, the down periods! Makes me angry.....and tired......here's another verse that came to me this morning:

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life. Prov. 3:12 - - -

hope deferred...indeed.....it's choking me today......but I'll pull out of this.

WE need gray's anatomy but for tonight, I'll just settle for some good celebrity gossip. ;)

CarlaB Enthusiast

Try the Beatitudes ... they're great to read when you're down. They tell you what your reward for your suffering will be! A great source of hope and strength.

God does have a sense of humor, I often laugh when reading scripture!! Some of it is hysterical ... even Jesus dealing with the apostles!

Guest Robbin

OH MY GOOOD GOOOOOGLY MOOOOOGLY!!!!! I TYPED A LONG POST AND LOST IT --- Why do I do such idiotic things!!!

Celia, Grays Anatomy-I never watched it before, but from reading what you all say about it, I must check this out!! Whaaaaa? Competition for Matthew McC?!!! Must see this guy!!! You are so funny and clever and I am so glad to see your smiling picture --please feel better -you are so special :)

Armetta, I didn't see the ostrich until I did an f5 !!! Glad to see him back!!

Geez, there is something in the air-so many of us down. I find myself repeating my "mantra" over and over more and more--"faith, hope, love" -using it a LOT more lately to keep myself calm and reasonably sane.

Susie, my dear Dingogirl, you are in my prayers--I know how hard it is to try to make sense of the crud life throws at you--sometimes all you can do is rest on faith. Please keep coming back here to keep us posted on how you are. I know it is easy to crawl into a shell-I want to myself quite frequently  , but just to let us know you are ok until you get through this hard time. Ice cream is a good idea, but maybe not nuggets. :)

Cissie --EIGHTEEN GRANDCHILDREN!!! You are so blessed!! I hope you spoil them rotten, and then send them home to kids with little ditties to say like, "But, Grandma lets me!" :D I have this all planned out for my "angel son's" offspring, lol. Grandmother's revenge :D

rinne, I read about your technique you used on the floors and omg, it sounds stunning. You are so creative! Did you decide to buy the restaurant you mentioned some time back?

Take care everyone, and have a great evening and Weds.-I am turning in early --getting on school schedule, yuk.

Edit--Carla, did you just see EWTN? I was just watching Mother Angelica classics -she spoke on the Beatitudes!! Yes, Susan, I recommend as well.

No, it was pure coicidence that I brought it up! It's just a verse that's helped me, repeatedly, through hard times.

Susan, you have to really look at the Ostrich. That sucker will cheer anyone up. When I get kinda down, I come on here, look for my ostrich and then just smile. He has the most goofy loving look and that is why I wanted him from Floridian. So, remember to look for the ostrich and let him take your cares away.

Thursday morning I leave for the airport and my trip to Las Vegas. Lynne and I have our planes land about 15 minutes apart. That is so cool. We are going to have a great time. We both have been trying to get plenty of rest this past week, so that we can really enjoy ourselves.

Yep. Since you're the oldest, you need to find yourself a man. Get married. Have babies. :D I won't turn yours into rotten brats ... I'm saving that for your brother's kids!

By the time I was 5 I had my first auto0immune disorder, Migraine headaches, with auras to blind me, and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. I was 5 years old, and my stepfather would have pizza night, milling his own flour, making thick cheesy gluten pizza, that I would eat and the next day, I would have serious migraines, and my mother & stepfather did nothing about my medical problems. When I was 17 in my first year at college, I was diagnosed with my 2nd known auto-immune disorder, Meniere's disease. I was a elite athlete, a swimmer, and soccer player. And once again my parents didn't think anything of understanding why I had a disorder only older people get. Now after my mother passed from Alzheimer's disease she also suffered with living with gluten. She had a rash for 30 years that nobody could diagnose. She was itchy for 45 years total. My brother had a encapsulated virus explodes in his spleen and when this happened his entire intestines were covered with adhesions, scar tissue and he almost lost his life. He has 5 daughters, and when I finally was diagnosed after being pregnant and my body went into a cytokine storm, I lost my chance to have children, I ended up having Hashimoto's disease, Degenerative Disc disease, and my body started to shut down during my first trimester. I am 6ft tall and got down to 119lbs. My husband and I went to a special immunologist in Terrace, California. They took 17 vials of blood as we flew there for a day and returned home that evening. In 3 weeks, we had the answer, I have Celiac disease. Once this was known, only my father and husband made efforts to change their way of feeding me. At the family cabin, my stepfather & mother were more worried that I would ruin Thanksgiving Dinner. It wasn't until one of my cousins was diagnosed with Celiac disease. They finally looked into getting Gluten Free flour and taking measures to limit "gluten" in meals. He did nothing but ask for me to pay for my own food and wi-fi when I came to the cabin to stay after our house burned down. When he informed my mother, they proceeding to get into a physical fight and she ended up with a black eye. The is just more trauma for me. Sam had no interest in telling the truth about what he wanted. He lied to my mother that he had asked my husband if I could pay for "food" when he asked Geoffrey if I had money to pay for my wi-fi. My mother hates when he spends so much time on the computer so he lied and said I could pay for my own food. I will remind you I weighed 119lbs at this time. (At 6ft) that is a very sick looking person. Neither parent was worried about my weight, they just fought about how cheap my stepfather was. As my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2014. He had her sign over the will to a trust and added his children. He had no testimonial capacity at the time, so she signed without proper papers. Making this Trust null and void. When I gave my brother my childhood home, my mother stated I would be getting an equal part of inheritance to the house on Race. It currently worth 2.0 million $. I got nothing, and my stepfather has since disowned me b/c of my claim and he knows that my mother would never have left it uneven between my biological brother and myself. She sat me and my husband down, as we lived at the Race Street house and treated and took care of it as our own. My brother took over b/c he was going through a horrific divorce and needed a home so he could get a better custody deal with his soon to be ex-wife who was a Assist DA for Denver. She used the girls against him, and he & I were the primary caregivers. We, Judd and I spent the most time with them pre the divorce. Once Judd moved into the house, he threw all of my mother, grandmother and my family heirlooms out to the Goodwill. Nobody told my mother about this as she was going through cancer treatment and had Alzheimer's disease in her mother and her sister. My stepfather and biological brother took advantage of this matter, as I called a "family council" that my brother just never could make it to at the last moment. All of the furnishing, kitchen ware, everything was in the house my brother just moved into. He had had 2 weddings, I chose to elope b/c my stepfather ruined my brother's first wedding by talking about his relationship with my brother in front of my dad and his entire family, insulting him and having my grandfather leave the ceremony. It was a disaster. My stepfather just plays dumb and blames my father for the slight. I was the only child not to have a wedding. So, my mother and stepfather never had to pay for a thing. My mother had had an agreement with my father he'd pay for college and all medical issues with their kids, myself and Judd. So truly my mother never had to pay for anything big for me in her entire life. I am looking for anyone that has had a similar story, where they grew up in a household that had a baker that regularly milled flour and ate gluten. What happened to you? DId you suffer from different auto-immune diseases b/c of living with a baker using "gluten" Please let me know. I have been looking into legal ways to get my stepfather to give me what my mother had promised, and he erased. Thank you for listening to my story. Jane Donnelly

Possibly gluten withdrawal. Lot's of info on the internet about it. Somewhat controversial but apparently gluten plugs into the same neuro sensors as opiates do and some people get a similar type withdrawal as they do when quitting opiates. Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour (in the U.S. at least) so when the switch is made to gluten-free facsimile foods, especially if a lot of processed gluten-free foods are being used as substitutes, vitamin and mineral deficiencies can result. There is also the possibility that she has picked up a virus or some but that is totally unrelated to going gluten-free.

I asked about the new fruit and nut one and the Dietician said yes I could eat it safely. Hooe this helps

Daughter has started gluten free diet this week as per gastroenterologists suggestion. However says she feels more tired and like she’s been hit by a train. I suggested it could be the change to gluten free or just stress from the endoscopy last week catching up with her. Just wondering if feeling more tired is a normal reaction at this stage. I suppose it’s possible some gluten might have been present without realising. Have tried to reassure her it’s not going to resolve symptoms overnight

Looking for help sourcing gluten-free products that do not contain potato or corn derived ingredients. I have other autoimmune conditions (Psoriatic Arthritis and Sjogrens) so I’m looking for prepared foods as I have fatigue and cannot devote a lot of time to baking my own treats.
