Tavi--have you cried yet? If so did it help?? Gosh, I can so relate and am sorry. Guess it's the price we pay as Mom's for helping to give our kids wings...hugs.

Judy

No, not yet. I know it's a good thing that she is off on her own and time for that. It's just so far away. I was thinking that when we moved in here there were 5 of us and now there is one. It's just really weird. I told my oldest daughter that now she will be like an only child, just what she always wanted. She never really forgave me for bringing the other 2 home from the hospital :lol::lol:

Anyway, life moves on and I suppose this is what the empty nest thing is all about. It's just so strange, never imagined they would grow up. I had 3 in 3 years and remember thinking I would never get any sleep again, go to the bathroom by myself, not refree fights etc. and now it's just over, in a blink in the eye. I could sleep all day if I wanted, only I can't sleep. Ok Judy, here comes the tears

OH morgan that sounds like such fun.

Judy- i was up until 330am. I couldnt sleep. I had to take extra meds to help me sleep. I feel like a zombie today.

I got glutened last nite too. That maybe why I couldnt sleep. I used a plastic cutting board that used to be used for gluten sandwiches. The board hadnt been used in forever, and I put it in the dishwasher and thought it would be safe. I knew as I was using it it wasnt a good idea, but I did it anyway. Kinda asked for the glutening. phooey.

Chelsea- I am sorry that you didnt get a positve on your test.

Thanks for all the compliments on my avatar. I never get tired of hearing how cute my son is!

Hi All

Promised myself i'd be off here and outside at 12:00 but Tavi...had to post to esp.

:( sorry your crying now but hope you'll feel better afterwards.

Just had a call from CA from son and had another 'honest' conversation.

I'm in tears now too. I miss him so much and he misses us and can't afford to move from there. Says Hollywood is just too phony for him ...

It was a hard phone call so going to go out INTO THE SUNSHINE AND DIG IN THE DIRT.

THANK GOD HE GAVE US DIRT ..DON'T KNOW WHAT I'D DO W/O IT.

PM ME IF YOU NEED.

LOVE tAVI

AND TO ALL THE REST ON BOARD..BIGS HUGS WILL TRY TO WRITE LATER.

Hi everyone! :)

Molly, that sounds really fun! I hope you guys win it all! :D

What do you mean you have no class spirit?? It sounds to me like you have alot of spirit. You get involved in everything...schoolwork, camp, airbands, the Stanford Celiac conference. It seems to me like you have TONS of spirit....I can tell just by excited you sound in your posts. :D

Tavi....I know I couldnt have held back tears as long as you've managed. I'd be dragging out picture albums...all kinds of stuff to torture myself. Even though I dont have kids I know I would do this...I do it when all of my relationships ended. You'll feel alot better afterwards...I promise. :)

Morgan, How cool that you're having so much fun! Wont you be needing tennis shoes for raquetball though?? :P

Stephanie,

Yup...you're boy is such a cutie!

I'm gonna try to go to bed around 4pm today. I hope I'll be able to fall asleep that early.

I wanna go into work at about 1am. I'm excited about my doctor appt...nervous too. I'm going to a doctor who specializes in mercury toxicity tomorrow morning. My doctors think I might have this and I've always felt I do so maybe I'll finally get answers. :)

Judy,

I've been posting about this on the OMG thread. I'm gonna post about my appt. sometime tomorrow. The drs. I had been seeing came to the conclusion that based on process of elimination, circumstances and timing of onset of symptoms and symptoms being consistent with that of mercury toxcity....that I should see a specialist who treats this. They're sending me to this new Dr....who I'll see tomorrow.

Remember me talking about this way back? I really feel its whats made me sick but no doctor would acknowlege it or help me. The Dr.'s at the clinic werent willing to consider it either but now they've come full circle and set me up with this Dr. We'll see what happens.

Judyin Philly Enthusiast

Thanks Rachel

I do remember this.

Is this from teeth fillings?

Were you the one who had all the trouble after root canals..?

Thought it was you and I too had 1 root/c and 2 teeth pulled before dx.

Hoping for some answers.

Hugs

Judy

Rachel--24 Collaborator

No....my troubles stared when they put gold crowns above amalgam fillings. It caused "galvanic reaction"....supposedly this would leech large amounts of mercury out of the fillings. I had a root canal later on due to major pain and non-stop problems since they put the crowns in. Even after the root canal I was still having major pain in the "dead" tooth. They ended up pulling the tooth and the pain stopped.

They did this to me too and I've had those pulled.

Is the mercury still in our systems??? :o:blink::huh: Holy Crap!

Hi Stephanie!

We are fine. Busy with homeschool. Maybe since summer is over everyone is back to the humdrum of whatever normal living is.

I'm cutting my time here on the board but always read.

Hi All,

Just a drive by post.

Stephanie, I posted in your thread, sending good thoughts your way about your son's appointment tomorrow I hope it goes well.

I love this time of year, it's my favorite, so I am ready for the changes :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator

NOOOO....please dont let summer end. I never even got to wear my new summer dresses. :(

I have to admit though...I do like the season changes. Not so much the drop in temp. but I like the *feel* of fall and winter....the holidays and the "cozyness" of it all. :)

But you live in California-so not such a dramatic change in temperatures!!

Us Brits have to put up with endless grey rain, sleet ,snow,ice....BRRRRR!!!

I'd rather be in California for the winter!!

I've been on vacation for a while, so I missed some

Tavi, sorry you're feeling down about your situation.

Penguin, Happy for your weight loss news for you.

Judy, always glad to see you around. You're always such an "upward motivating" person to us. I wish I could have your cheeriness.

Chelsea: hope you are feeling better

Rachel, Carla: send some warmer weather our way!

To all I missed here, Hi! Hope all is well.

I've heard about mercury fillings being dangerous to your health. I don't know if I ever got any in my life....I'm sure I have but I have had "re-fills" over the past 10 years and I don't think the new stuff is mercury-based.

Let's demand that Summer not end!

I hate change, especially bad change. Our local ACME is closing after 30 years; this is bad for us because my husband was able to walk there (less than a block away) while I had the car at work.

The change will mean that we will have to do food shopping when I get home from work or weekends.....we are down about this new development.

Our choices now are: go into hock to buy a second car? or move to a more expensive apartment, but is close to many different stores and could be a good decision in the long run? Which is best?

Well gotta run & get ready for work.

Jean-Luc Rookie

wow, I really am buried with work, a toddler and my refereeing, not enough day light.

In any event, I hope all is well. I posted awhile back that my dad was geting some surgery. For those interested it went well.

I am starting to get nervous about these restrictive diets and breath tests. I think someone else mentioned they were going for them -MiaMia?

I wound up experiencing the same upper abdominal pain I had that first started this whole ball of wax. But it passed, I will be happy to get a diagnosis or something.

As for those lamenting about winter, I am sitting in my office at 6 pm and it is already getting dark out. The high today was around 71. This weekend will be nice, but old man winter is coming back , However, NOAA insists the NE will have a mild winter. I can only hope.

Everyone take care.

I know it's hard....but you need to take some time for rest and relaxation. :)

Glad to hear about your Dad. When do you have your tests. Isn't that next month?

Hi,  My 7 year daughter has complained of this in the past, which I thought were part of her glutening symptom, but more recently I have come to figure out it's part of her histamine overload symptom. This one symptom was part of her broader profile, which included irritability, extreme hunger, confusion, post-nasal drip. You might want to look up "histamine intolerance". I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

My 5yo was diagnosed with celiac last year by being tested after his sister was diagnosed. We are very strict on the gluten-free diet, but unsure what his reactions are as he was diagnosed without many symptoms other than low ferritin.  He had a school party where his teacher made gluten-free gingerbread men. I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?
    • trents
Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified Gluten" in any given batch run. It just means there could be.
    • trents
I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
