I don't know why but I've found that castrated males make much better pets.

Ooops  LOL! I think the above statement could apply to men too!!!:lol:

 As soon as I read that line, I burst out laughing!

No wonder your eczema is flaring up--remember to breathe, and that everything is going to be fine. :)

I hope they get Alan in on Friday, so that can be over and done with. Sometimes the wait is the hardest part.

My husband and younger son's middle names are Alan--even spelled the same :D

CarlaB Enthusiast
Yep, Alan is scheduled for Friday ( Oh please god don't let it be cancelled again)

We have to ring the ward before we leave on Fri morning to check it's still on.

I hate uncertainties <_<

Felix is booked in for next Wednesday.

* wringing hands * So much anxiety!! (My eczema is flaring up big time! :o )

LOL!

I'm not even gonna go there!!

I have another cat ,and she can be nasty! She'd scratch me to ribbons .

Really!!! Fancy that. It's not a name you hear often now.

All my boys have good 'old fashioned' names (The other 2 are Daniel and Martin)

I like good old fashioned names! My guys are Matthew, Mark(husband) and John--people always say I should have had one more boy and named him Luke!

Nikki-UK is your son's biopsy still on for tomorrow? They delayed it a week, right?

As of yesterday, it was still on. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't move it at the last minute. :)

I will be gone until Friday the 13th. My sons name is Colin Ian, his father is from Scotland. Go figure? heehe

Aww guys,thanx for remembering.

Well it all went ahead and Alan had it done under general anaesthetic (so he didn't know a thing about it!)

but it was a very long day!!

We had to arrive at the hospital at 7.30am-which meant leaving at 5.45 am as we had to get through London traffic.

Alan was first on the list, but then had to be put back as they wanted to speak to his cardiologist (at another London hosp) due to him still having a heart murmur.

All went well though-and he woke up ravenous!!!

No clear answers yet-the doc explained that they looked at one sample (they took around 18 samples)under the microscope, and it 'looked' like slightly blunted villi-but he couldn't be sure, and will wait until the labs have had a better look.

The doc will ring me with the results on Friday.

Although Alan has some symptoms of coeliac,I can't say that he's 'ill' as such.

During our day on the paediactric gastro ward-it unsettled me a bit,and kind of made me feel like 'what am I doing here?'

There were 2 other kids in his ward that were desperately ill (one with Crohns disease, and another with Ulcerative Colitis).

One 12 year old boy was crying because the docs had told him he needed a resection of his bowel, and therefore would need a 'bag' for a while- :(

Makes you realise how lucky you are.

Unfortunately it's further bad news on the kitty front.

I had to rush Felix to the vet as his breathing was laboured-he had x-rays,and it turns out he is in heart failure :(

He had alot of fluid drained off his lungs and around his heart-poor little fella was really struggling to breath.

He's home now-on diuretics (Frusemide) to keep the fluid moving, but the vet has warned me that it's not a long term solution-and that it's just a question of time :(:(

He's sleeping alot, but seems alot more comfortable.

On a happier note,my hubby has an older son (he's 21 yrs) from a previous relationship.

He had moved away-and we didn't see him much.(they had a difficult relationship)

He turned up over the weekend to inform us that he's a Dad and Terry (hubby) is a Granddad!!! :D (can't tell you how much we are all ribbing him about being a Grandpa!)

There's nothing like a baby to bring family back together-and Terry's is overjoyed at his Granddaughter (she is beautiful!!)

.....wait a minute, does that make me a step Grandmother!!! .Oh my word!!:lol:

Thanks guys-

See ya :D

Nikki,

I was wondering how Alan did--I even told my husband about you all! I'm glad that he sailed through it and was feeling good right after. Hunger is always a good sign :D Well, I guess now you just wait until Friday (again). Let me know :)

Poor Felix! The little guy has really been through it! Good that he's comfortable.

The story of Terry's son gave me goosebumps! How wonderful for the two of them to be able to come back together over the baby. Such good news for the whole family. :)

Wow, that's right--you're a step-grandma now! :o

AndreaB Contributor

Nikki,

Great to hear about Alan and Terry's and your new status. :D

Poor kitty. :( Hope he stays comfortable. Do you have a picture of him you could put up for a bit.

AndreaB Contributor

Nikki,

Thank you for sharing your kitty with us. He's so pretty. Does he have green eyes?

nikki-uk Enthusiast

Yep,he has big green eyes!

He's eating well this morning (just as well-I crush his medicine up in his food!) and is generally being spoilt rotten with a new fluffy bed and offerings of ham!

Back to the vets tomorrow for him to check his progress .....

There's our regal-looking Felix! Sounds like he's relaxing in style, and hopefully doing much better. :D

AndreaB Contributor

Nikki,

Keep us posted on all fronts if you will. :)

I always liked kitties with blue or green eyes since they weren't as common.

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
