Oh Bev,

I have tears in my eyes thinking about lil' Angus (who I kind of consider "our" lil' Angus :P ) and what he may have gone through before you took him. I get so sad when I think about how mean some people can be--and to a defenseless little puppy. :(

The happy news is that he has a wonderful new mommy and daddy now, and lots of Celiacs for aunts and uncles :lol: I'm glad to hear that he likes the kitties--my Allo is a bit, should I say, set in his ways and a lot like Nikki's Lady Lucy! :D

Nikki - - Richard will NOT be pleased with you using mince MEAT out of a jar, you know he would demand hours of cooking/drinking/ and dog walkign to perfect the recipe........

I actually DO make mincemeat from SCRATCH (grandma's recipe - I HATE the stuff but it's a once-a-year treat for my dad) B)

No more recipes for you ladies. I promise <_<

Indeed, Angus, why is Richard working??? I guess he has to count all the money and heinous stuff like that at this time of year......he doesn't even know we have two new canine members....

Heinous is right.

WHO LET the DOGS out(in?)?! (Woof-woof)

Pancakes? Can't find thread? what about pancakes?

Miss you all...being sucked back into the work vortexxxxxxaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I told my cat (Lady Lucy) that I have a new friend *Stinker* - she is not amused, she says I have betrayed her and is now sitting with her back to me

My cat is a snob and treats me with the disgust she thinks I deserve <_<

 Nikki - - we don't own cats, they own US, as you know.....:) I also had a cat named Lucy....it was Lucy Baines. I named her when I was 3. When I was a teenager, I asked my mom why her name was Lucy Baines.....and she said that when I was little, I loved President Johnson's daughter Lucy Baines Johnson......ha ha ha , it cracks me up for some reason. :P

Do you think if all the dogs and cats on this thread get together and bark/meow richard would hear it?

we must give it a try! :D and look, there is a hello from our Richard now, I see, but much too short......

oh poor Angus......I am so sad for these poor babies and the lives and suffering they endure. :( BUT LOOK NOW, he is with his REAL family....and he will forget those terrible memories in time...and will love his new kitty siblings, also. :) It brings my heart joy.

Hi sTinkah- Thank u be my friend.

Stinker is jealous of Angus's rapidly improving writing skills. Try as I may, she just can't get it right, she also can't say her "th's" and pronounces them as an "f" sound, I was told this by her nanny years ago......

RICHARD.....stay away from the vortex!!! stay away!! don't let them suck you in, we are MUCH more important than your silly job!

Pancakes....OMG....I used Bob's baking mix, added a bit of vanilla and a smidgen of xantham gum.....IT WAS PURE HEAVEN. I ate two batches - breakfast and then lunch - felt quite sick the entire day......but so worth it and will do it again......they were utter heaven, crispy on the outside, creamy fluff bits of heaven....(I make them thin) with melted butter and pure maple syrup.....OMG, I hope I don't make those for dinner tonight - but come to think of it, dinner is a better option than breakfast for them since you only have to feel sick for a few hours, then off to bed!

It is so cold that my hands can hardly type. waiting for warmth in here......now must run the dogs through the stepford complex and it is freezing.......

Oh thank GAWD !!! :lol::lol:

(I nearly lost the will to live after the stuffing debacle  )

Alas, - I fear you have succumbed (to the dreaded work vortex.... : :(

 Nikki - - we don't own cats, they own US, as you know.....:) I also had a cat named Lucy....it was Lucy Baines.

Ain't that the truth!!! The term 'lady' was added to Lucy as she clearly thinks *she* is aristocracy and we (humans) are bumbling fools who should bow down to her

Yes!! Thank goodness for that - what a lucky pup :)

Stinker clearly was a cockney in a past life.

She needs to recite this everyday to brush up on her pronounciation:

''Forty thousand feathers on a thrush's throat''

RICHARD - - - COME AND PLAY!!! just stop with that silly job of yours! :P

the marshmallows.....OMG what a coup that was! I am making more, I will share the recipe later, it will take me a while to post - - but it was an enormous success.

And where is that recipe............I adore sausages and rolls and sausages+rolls= sausage rolls sound EVEN better.

I actually bought quinoa today as I contemplate making the stuffing. I think I'm gonna do it.

No...I am NOT going to make my own sausage! i don't own any Snausages (the animals sausage come from...they look a little like Spaminals which is where we get Spam).

Actually, for twenty four hours I had my 7th graders believing that there was such a thing as a Spaminal   :P

OK- This is a very irreverent website Open Original Shared Link but look at the Kirsten Dunst article. It would be interesting if it turned she had Celiac?????????

Also, for a REALLY good laugh (ver very very irreverent- not for the easily offended) scroll down to the Justin Timberlake article. I haven't laughed that hard in a LONG time, but, uhm, it's not what I want for Christmas

I'm going to hijack this thread briefly  to say that years ago when my husband got his dog (a long and hysterical story in itself) he went home with the pup and told his mom he was naming the dog Angus (after Angus Young) and his mom vetoed it reminding him of the name he'd always said he'd name a dog....Ask'm.

What's your dog's name?

(shrug) Ask'm

(person to dog) What's your name?

(Ask'm) Woof!

Now my son has a stuffed puppy named Guess.

Reminds me of the other day. Hubby was sending my computer in to be fixed and asked me what key was broken. I said, "Y." He started telling me about the paperwork and asked me again ... I said, "Y" ... he got frustrated and went on about how he was sending it in to be fixed, etc. ... I finally caught on and told him the "Y" key was broken!

 That's exactly the conversation the nurse had with Walker when he came in to meet Ty when Ty was born. It was especially funny because he was only three years old, but you could tell he wanted to roll his eyes and say, "Jeez lady. What's wrong with you?"

The Y key. It's next to the "any" key.

...if you build it they will come :) "Field of Dreams"

You will be the belle of the ball, the Queen of Quinoa, The Sultan of Stuffing - IF you put this on your Christmas table.

DO NOT USE SNAUSAGES to make this! I used Jenny-O smoked Turkey sausage (found at Wal*Mart)

Good luck and Good Eats :D

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a gluten-free Christmas!

SPAMINALS!!! so THAT's where snausages come from! you are a woman after my own heart, making your 7th graders believe that such a thing exists.....that is exactly a teaching strategy I would employ

HI RICHARD! Nice to see you.......aren't you proud of us? homemade marshmallows, snausage rolls, Mince pies, and Bev is even going to attempt the Sir Richard's blah blah blah Dingo Quinoa Stuffing?

Hi Linda! Please, hijack away! We are a small but loony group here and always welcome interlopers. :)

Susan, what kind of dogs are the dingoes? I used to have a blue heeler/terrier cross who I thought was beautiful and people who saw him and Ask'm together would tell my husband, "Oh what a beautiful dog!...(then looking at me and Scout) Your dog is interesting, too." <_< People thought he was dingoey. He had the same ears as your dogs.

A few weeks ago I was volunteering at my son's grade 3/4 class. One of the kids asked how I knew how to spell so many big words. I told him that I was ridiculously smart, and not only did I have a high school diploma, but I went to community college as well. A different boy said, "Are you smarter than Mrs. H?" I told him I was smart enough not to be a teacher. Mrs. H. overheard and started laughing. The boy accused me of insulting her, and I said I meant I was smart enough to know that I could handle a classroom for a couple of hours a day once a month and that was it.

Homemade marshmallows?

Do you go out and hunt the elusive Althaea officinalis (marshmallow plant) or do you have a Stay-Puffinator contraption in your basement?

Snausage rolls? The picture looks yummy.

Bev is truly gonna be a rock star (Hell's Belle :) ) on Christmas once she presents "Sir Richard's blah blah blah Dingo Quinoa Stuffing?" (with a big flourish and much fanfare)

You ladies are just being coy. I know you are all multi-talented individuals who can star at anything you choose. Step up to the plate on this stuffing - you won't regret it B)

I have my holiday cooking schedule in place (sorry not on Food Network this year ;) )

I made a pecan pie and and apple pie today. Tomorrow is prep time for the stuffing (chopping/measuring) cookies for Santa (he's gluten-free too!) and a coffee cake for Christmas morn. Monday is stuffing assemblage and green bean casserole and the off to my inlaws for a morning snack and then to my folks for the big 2 turkey feast (no I'm not one of them).

...and though it's been said, many times, many ways...Mer-ry Christ-maaaAAAs to you (all)...

Happy Holidays to all you Wal*Mart shoppers ;)

Thanks, I’m still dealing with the pain and tingling and itching and feeling like bugs or something crawling around on my face and scalp. It’s been a miserable experience. I saw my eye doc last week, the eye itself was okay, so they didn’t do anything. I did take a 7 day course of an antiviral. I’m hoping for a turnaround soon! My life is full of stress but I have been on / off the gluten free diet for the last year , after being talked into going back on gluten to have a biopsy, that looked okay. But I do have positive antibody levels that have been responsive  to a gluten free diet. I can’t help but wonder if the last year has caused all this.

I don't think any apps are up to date, which is exactly why this happened to you. Most of the data in such apps is years old, and it doesn't get updated in real time. Ultimately there is no substitution for learning to read labels. The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.

What is the best gluten free scanner app? I have the "gluten-free Scanner" app. I scanned an almond joy and it says it contains gluten when the package is labeled gluten free

Certainly, it would b wise to have a gene test done if your physician is open to it as it would provide some more data to understand what's going on. But keep in mind that the genetic test for celiac disease cannot be used as to diagnose celiac disease, only to establish the potential to develop active celiac disease. About 40% of the general population possess one or both of the primary genes known to be associated with the development of active celiac disease but only about 1% of the population actually develop active celiac disease. So, the gene test is an effective "rule out" tool but not an effective diagnostic tool.
