okay - so, I'm going to cheat again. Yes, I am. This time, just a small amount, like a cross-contamination, to see what will happen.

I mean, WTH???? I haven't opened this up for discussion to the rest of the forum because I don't want to get fish-slapped.

You lie ! .. you love getting fish slapped.

No she didn't just say that  .

Susie, what am I going to do with you? What's most likely happening here is that you've healed enough so that your reactions have changed. This happened to me, too. ;)

Oh yes, yes, this is very well said Patti - I agree

Sense prevails at last !!

Janet, have a great time (OMG SOOOO jealous!!! a holiday without children or hubby????.......I cannot conceive of such a thing !!!! )

Janet!!! OMG!! this is fabulous....wonder if you'll check back in before you go?? I have friends who own a restaurant on Hilton Head - you HAVE to go see them!! It's called Scratch Kitchen, tell Leah that her little Tater Tot from California says hallooooooooooo! Just walk in and say - is there a Tater Queen of the South in here???

Yes, I am still checking in from time to time today but trying to stay away from the computer. Sometimes I lose big chunks of time when I'm on here with no recollection of how it happened.

OK, Tater Queen, Scratch Kitchen, Susie the Tater Tot . . . got it!

I mean, WTH???? I haven't opened this up for discussion to the rest of the forum because I don't want to get fish-slapped.

I believe the fish-slapping was going to come from this particualr thread, not the rest of the forum!

A recently passed anti-crime law requires criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice, either orally or in writing, and to explain the nature of the crime to be committed...

Ohhhhh, I get it . . . Susie's giving us advance notice of her criminal acts . . .

Tom - love the dingo emoticons. maybe we should petition Scott for ALL KINDS Of wacky things on there?????????????????? dogs, cats, piles of vomit, pizza, everything!

I posted on the technical help section asking if anybody knew how to get the green nausea guy in the body of the post. One reply and it doesn't look good. When I get back, I've got a plan (shhhh! it's secret  I'm going to annoy him like a six-year old ) to get Scott to make it available. You know we could really (over)use that particular one.

I had to take some of my work home with me over the past weekend. Well I set up this area on the dining room table and got out my IPOD and all my work supplies i carted home in a bag. I am working and next I know Lucky is sitting up on the table. He is laying practically on the chart I am working out of. He has covered over my memo pads, ink pens, and everytime I reached for one of those post-it flags he put his paws on that....such a little helped. I kind of miss him at my desk here today. He would be the something furry to pet when you needed a break or needed some comfort from the stress. :):)

It's like working out in the gym every day to get 6-pack abs and going back to a 6-pack of budweiser once you've achieved it.

OUCH- Nikki's punching me and pinching me and I'm already in pain.

Susie- You will not be slapped by anything so lovely as a salmon by me....it will be gelfite fish or better yet lutefisk:Every Advent we entered the purgatory of lutefisk, a repulsive gelatinous fishlike dish that tasted of soap and gave off an odor that would gag a goat. We did this in honor of Norwegian ancestors, much as if survivors of a famine might celebrate their deliverance by feasting on elm bark. I always felt the cold creeps as Advent approached, knowing that this dread delicacy would be put before me and I

No, dear one....what it does mean is that you have healed enough that gluten possibly doesn't make you as sick for as long.......

What it does not mean is that said gluten isn't causing more damage--and that small amounts over time will cause inflammation and, well you know what happens along with the chronic inflammation :o

Step away from the gluten B)

well......for example, I might just EAT the turkey at thanksgiving, instead of cooking my own whole meal, taking the risk that there's the teensiest bit of poison in it.

However, my NEXT cheating experiment  was going to consist of a SMALL/microscopic amount of the poison (as in a CC) to see what would happen in THAT case. Adam is out of town for the third week in a row ... my kitchen is getting ripped out tomorrow, so I had to pack it up by myself ... needed to take Vicodin just to do it ... he owes me BIG ... he might owe me a massage tomorrow (yeah, he's out of town, I'll just bill him, LOL).

Vicodin to pack the kitchen...I would ask, did it take you to your magic place, but I am SURE that you only had to take it to get THROUGH the heinous ordeal!!! :( Yes, he DOES owe you!

Well, I don't complain about the pain much, but Lyme HURTS! Lots of muscle aches ... kind of like when you have the flu. So, the Vicodin just so I could stand up.

... (Incidentally, this little emoticon I have just used has always confounded me. I have come to deduce that it must suggest a guilty admission, but visually it just doesn't seem to fit. It would be perfect for a moment where you are about to speak about your secret wish to conduct an armed robbery, or to become a hockey goalie, or an oppressed Afghani woman). . .

Yes Emily. I ain't 'fraid-a-no- . .. .uhhh little guy peeping thru the slats of a broken fence neither!

Dear tom,

Yes, Mr. Molar has been there through it all! Saying goodbye is so difficult! :( He has been there through popcorn, Milk Duds, Tootsie Rolls, caramel apples with nuts, tortilla chips, potato chips, and all kinds of other things! Does he have these happy memories, too? So many questions remain.

His blog, "A Molar's Rigmarole", is often as wonderfully silly as your posts, tho his biting satire gets him more comments and incisive retorts.

His recent expose "Front Teeth Spoiled by More Frequent Flossing" was 'a jawdropper'. Says so on the plaque.

Omg!! He dropped the Scandal Sheet after last month's mouth-watering controversy over the bi-cuspids' sexual (I should say "alleged") confusion.

And how hilarious was the new"Top Ten Things My Owner Would Give Her Eyeteeth For"??

I'm really looking fwd to the upcoming "Fact or Fiction: Back Teeth Float When Owner Neglects Bodily Function".

I couldn't believe the SciFi section's "Wookies - how Chewy ARE they?". Stupid Mr Molar! It's his freaking name!!!

Moving On . . . .

"Friends" - Chandler at the ATM during blackout ep? Wasn't the hot model Harry Connick Jr.'s wife? (Guessing Jill Goodacre?)

Hence: It is better to drink wine and talk stupid than to drink water and be full of s*#t.

JANET!!! Woohoo! Hilton Head! I went there as a kid but I think we spent a longer time at Jekyl Island, not far from there if I recall correctly.

AwwwwwRIGHT then . . .. . .let's backtrack a bit shall we?

I have been in my bed since 7, reduced to crying, because the EVIL OPIATE is kicking in.....and so now I am CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!! already barfed twice. Stomach pain beginning.................oh this is NOT going to be pretty..........

Anyone else wonder whether our Susan could be better off in the long run w/ a fully convincing repeat of last year's debacle?

However, my NEXT cheating experiment  was going to consist of a SMALL/microscopic amount of the poison (as in a CC) to see what would happen in THAT case. Our very own official "Thread Guinea Pig".

Can't really say CC, can we? Those are accidental and you/we need to know how much of what.

How about an 'accidental-sized' dusting of flour in a sauce as round one.

Round two can be a barley-containing non-wheat beer? Hmmm or start the beers w/ a wheaty Hefeweizen?

Then mimick "them good old boys, drinkin' whiskey and rye". Oops wrong Rye!

Hmmm What's a source of rye alone? Not RyeKrisp - I think they're mostly wheat.

such an EEEEEEEJIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <slapping self in forehead>

Can we decide in advance where the line forms next time? (Again, BYO piscene-punisher, if desired, tho gar & trout *will* be provided, so please do not treat Mrs. Inuki's koi pond as free slap-fodder!!)

I'm thinking a pufferfish, aka "mace of the sea".

Giada the Food Tart! :shwing:

Bah! No video on a sidekick. :(

Do the producers of her Everyday Italian track Nielsen #s as a function of each episode's cleavage quantity?

And why the excessive smiles :D after mundane missives like "then remove the outer leaves of your fennel bulb" ??

Carla! Nice new pic! :)

OMG - my thoughts exactly! It is FOOD PORN in its vilest sense!!! (that's actually not true, I prefer Paula Deen for the HARD CORE food porn, as I stare wistfully at her near-constant fried dough mounds and flaky pies, moist cakes...... :()

Okay - - -the ONLY suffering was Friday night, after the binge.....nothing more after that! Just a slight ache in lower tummy on Saturday.

I am a reckless and stupid gal. I am thinking I WILL cheat again. No amount of piscene slapping can stop me!!!!!!!!!!!!

MOO-HOO- HOOO- HA HAHAHHAHHAHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

and I'm not going to tell you guys when I do.

(how did Janet make that devil-horned emoticon?)

nighty-night!

p.s. one more thing - -

 <--- THIS is the emoticon I think is most confusing for people - - to me, it means verklempt with glee - - but I've seen others use it when they are rolling their eyes (at a useless doctor, for example)...but to me, it looks really happy, like it would be clapping its hands with joy at some newfound gluten-free delicacy, perhaps? In response to your questions regarding probiotics.  I have had Celiac for 40 years.  Stomach issues: digestion, IBS to chronic constipation, bloat after eating anything.  I was unable to eat a healthy variety of foods, tried probiotics supplements - some made me worse, others made no difference.  After reading about people with Crones, IBS, etc, who made their own probiotics I started making Milk Kefir: not water Kefir. There are 10 probiotics in milk KEFIR. After 3 weeks I was able to eat more, no gas, no IBS.  If you have a computer just ask for videos on making milk Kefir. I branched out and make my own Kombucha for even more probiotics. I do not make my yogurt because there are only about four probiotics in that. I started this when I was 82 and I still make my own Kefir and Kombucha. My stomach issues were fixed with the Milk Kefir alone. If you decide to try making it, make certain you order MILK GRAINS. The finished product tastes a bit like Buttermilk. I hope this helps in your journey to good health.

Help me out here. Lauren Dam gluten-free beer from Spain is listed as gluten free. Yet its made from Barley Malt. I thought barley and any form had gluten. Anybody have any more information about it?

Ferritin levels.  And see what your hemoglobin looks like too, that will tell you if you are anemic?  You can have 'low normal' levels that will not be flagged by blood tests.  I had 'low normal' levels, my lab reading was. c12, just over what was considered normal, but I had small benign lesion on my tongue, and sometimes a sore mouth, and a consultant maxillofacial ordered an iron infusion for me as he felt my levels were too low and if he  raised them to 40, it would help.   Because you are not feeling 100% it might be worth looking at your levels, then discussing with your doctor if they are low normal.  But I stress, don't supplement iron without your levels being monitored, too much is dangerous.

Hi Katht -  I sympathize with your struggles in following a gluten-free diet and lifestyle. I found out that I had Celiac Disease a few months before I turned 70. I just turned 89 and it has taken me almost 20 years to attain a fairly normal intestinal  function. I also lost a lot of weight, down to 100 lb. down from about 140 lb. What Trents wrote you was very true for me. I am still elimination foods from my diet. One person suggested you keep a food diary and that is a good idea but it is probably best just to do an elimination diet. There are several ne and maybe one for celiacs. I used one for a while and started with plain rice and zucchini and then added back other foods to see if I reacted or not. That helped a great deal but what I did not realise that it would only very small amounts of some foods to cause inflammation in my intestine. Within the last few years I have stopped eating any trace amounts of hot peppers, corn and soy(mostly in supplements) and nuts, (the corn in Tylenol was giving me stomach aches and the nuts were causing foot pains). Starting an elimination diet with white rice is better than brown rice that has some natural toxins. In addition it is very important to drink sufficient plain water. You can find out how much to drink for your height and weight online. I do have difficulty drinking 48 ounces of water but just recently have found an electrolyte supplement that helps me stay well hydrated, Adding the water and electrolytes may reduce muscle cramps and gag spams you wrote about. . Also buy some anti-gluten enzyme capsules to take with meals. I use GliadinX advertised here. These are a lot of things to do at one time as they reflect my 20 years of experience. I hope you do what you can manage to do over time. Good luck and take care.

Hello, I'm relatively new to this, so I'm hoping to get some advice. I went gluten-free for most of April and felt the best I've ever felt. I’ve been experiencing strange symptoms since last August, but they all disappeared when I eliminated gluten. However, to get accurate blood test results, I’m back on gluten for a month (all of May), and I’m honestly feeling miserable. I’ve been dealing with joint pain, bloating, diarrhea, and just overall discomfort. Does anyone have tips on how to manage these symptoms during this month? What has helped you with joint pain?
