I unplug my lap top too. Supposedly if the computer is on a surge protector it is ok....but computers are so expensive I don't take the chance. I had one get fried once....not fun!

Yeah, but surge protectors only protect from so many surges ... you wouldn't want yours to be plugged in for that one too many.

PLUS, a direct hit by lightening, and everything plugged in is toast! Our old house got struck a couple months after we moved .... everything had to be replaced ... washer, dryer, electronics, .... everything! A beam in the attic vapoUrized!

I was hoping to be 500 ....

Kinda jealous of Suzies expected lightening storm. They are so much fun.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Gawd!

Susie--yes, you must unplug immediately!!!! about 5 years ago, our house got hit with lightening and it blew out our modem. There was smoke in the wall, the fire dept was called, a mess.

Ok everyone....the stupid award for the day goes to.... (drumroll)----me <_<

I've eaten 2 boxes of Lesser Evil Popcorn in the last week  Beyond the obvious glutony, I have been feeling sick--digestive distress, middle of the night anxiety, and the tell-tale ache in the back of my head.

I'm thinking it had to be something else--all the holiday treats and all. Today, I'm still sick, so I go through everything-- mentally-- I've eaten or used different in the last week or so. The hair conditioner checked out.....so I go to call the popcorn company and see in small letters under the large allergy warning "made in a facility that runs wheat".

Crap  I missed it completely.

That'll teach me to use my reading glasses when I shop B)

This caused me to chortle and snort suddenly...such a great word, and wasted on such a plebian experience. The Arrival of Menses Today...sounds like a royal entourage alighting, or a new historical epoch...:lol:

*snort*

Yes - - 'tis a plebian (and utterly wretched) event indeed........

VORTEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG - I don't even KNOW if lightning is expected - HOW EXCITING! - but lots of power outages. must.........turn............off............computer................

Vortex indeed....Susie is hoping she could keep in contact with us whilest the storm bears down upon her....we are her security blanket....be lost without us :)

 Yay! Yes you are! Amanda, set up my room, I"m on the way to chocolate-town....with two ersatz dingos in tow!

WOOOHOOOHOOOO!!!

excellent - but, what are pipets?

ALL HAIL QUEEN JESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now we have a scientist as queen........this could behold many interesting things for us.........

My dear Janet - you are not quite discerning the canine attitudes accurately - - Stinker is partially to completely senile now - - mostly deaf and losing vision - - so SHE, in this photo, doesn't even really know what's going on.

Annie? Her ears are almost always down in the submission pose for photos......I have to PUSH her off of me and tell her to stay - - she lunges for the humans every time. Annie is all about the LUVVVVVVVVVVV  She really is the most beguiling and cutest dog ever - even Gail said so......that was huge.

gotta go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I have to do a credit check on a potential renter and go to Starbucks for a latte and I MISS PAGE 500!!!

Congrats your highness Jess!

The renter was bad .... why do people pay me $20 to pull a credit report and not believe I'll do it???? So, I call her supposed landlord who is not the owner of the house but a representative for the "out of town owner" and she hangs up on me when I ask the owner's NAME! I mean, if you have such a bad landlord reference and are going to have a friend lie for you, at least tell the friend the LANDLORD'S NAME! It is information that can be found on the internet, LOL.

It gets entertaining ..... I guess they don't expect to get caught.

jerseyangel Proficient
I guess they don't expect to get caught.

Mark has had similar experiences when he does background checks on potential employees--also when they submit to a drug screen. It boggles the mind

All hail Queen Jess!!!!!!

It truly does. If they're going to lie, they really need to be better at it ... I mean, she tells my hubby she needs to be out today because of a divorce, then she tells me she's having trouble collecting child support .. which is it? Is she just moving out, or has she been trying to collect child support for the past year?

The sad part is, MOST people lie .... so if you're going to own rental properties, be sure you have someone experienced teach you to do a background check! I used to manage a 300 unit complex in Houston ... the turnover was about 30 units per month, so I've had a lot of experience with it!

elye Community Regular
excellent - but, what are pipets?

Okay, I google-imaged pipets...now, Jess, this is a fitting suggestion coming from you, but on your crown?!

Yes, this has happened photographically with my parents, as well...getting senile, deaf and blind...and yet when I snap a photo their ears are up and forward, eyes looking alert and attentive...

They just don't know what's going on....:lol:

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
    • nanny marley
I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
    • trents
You may also need to supplement with B12 as this vitamin is also involved in iron assimilation and is often deficient in long-term undiagnosed celiac disease.
