  Is this something like setting out the cat carrier a few days early so kitty stops being frightened of it?

Jess! - UGH!!! Sorry to hear about the new drug and additional food restrictions . . . but this caught my eye

Went to the dermatologist for a rash on my face. He said it's dermatitis that's exacerbated by my psoriasis. He wants me to start taking methotrexate (a cytotoxin) and stop eating sugar, carbs, and alcohol. So no more fruit, rice crackers, wine. Nothing that I can just throw in my backpack and take to work.

. . . you get to take alcohol to work??? You must work for the goverment.

Picturing Julie circling said treadmill, sniffing it, tentatively touching it but withdrawing her hand rapidly (in case it bites - which it may  you never know)

Tomorrow Julie can hold the rail (good luck ;) )

Sillies - - I was in a terrible vortex all day yesterday............and I'm emerging from it now....... I missed such hilarity!

Hi all,

I don't think I'm gonna take the job What a loser

Patti - - I am late in responding to this..........but as everyone else has already said, you are NOT a Loser, not one bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't make us hurt you...........

anywho - - you did the right thing and I don't have anything else to add to what everyone else has said. Besides, you need to keep your sillies company all day, counsel us and others on this phorum.... :P

A nekkid tree hugging lady, but something is missing.......must pound pots and pans over head whilst turning clockwise one quarter turn facing each direction.

now that cracked me up........the quarter turn..... Yes, I can DO this job!!!! I"ll bring the skull crusher, and a dingo-ish dog, and, I think some sort of magic warbling chant needs to accompany this job......also perhaps some sacred yeti scat.......................

T'is a rather grey, wet, dull St Georges day here in blighty <_< .......nothing to do but chores

this sounds PERFECT! I'll be over soon...... :P

So, I'm drinking my water, and getting ready to go for the blood draw. Hopefully it's a lab issue like Amanda suggested. Could also be all the Tylenol I use for my neck Julie, I didn't realize you still had liver issues going on. I'll keep you posted

Patti - - sorry you have to stress about this.....my friend in San Jose had elevated enzymes for years and years......she went psychotic over it (but that's how she is  ) and finally, they were regulated when it was discovered she had an overactive thyroid and they put her on the meds for that - but the liver levels were elevated for almost a full decade before the discovery of thyroid condition.

Susie! Could you do this kind of job? You're looking for some part-time employment....

But wait....you're not elderly nor Chinese....

But I CAN be!!!!!!!!!

Brief whiny rant.

He wants me to start taking methotrexate (a cytotoxin) and stop eating sugar, carbs, and alcohol. So no more fruit, rice crackers, wine. Nothing that I can just throw in my backpack and take to work. Just what are you supposed to eat when you can't eat grains, or fruits, or dairy, or beans, and don't like meat?? How many days can I live on frozen shrimp and bell peppers??

I am so frickin' tired of having to schedule my life around preparing food!!!!

I hate this i hate this i hate this ihatethisIHATETHIS

:( Jess......this IS heinous. My brother eats no carbs/sugars/flours etc - except for oatmeal. For about three years now.....though he does eat his fish and fowl/foul? Fowl. <it didn't look right  > Are you quite sure this derm knows what he's talking about? I'd want a different answer.

hmmm, guess I'll have to think about this as I finish off the 4 bottles of wine I need to consume before starting this nasty medicine on Saturday.

And a bit of scotch

Oh, and that last glass of rum

Dang! I had no idea I had so much to do at home. Better leave work early.

  what, no wine in your backpack at work today?

Now be careful, I barphed most heartily in Vegas the day AFTER I quit taking the antibiotic......

So day 3 of Operation Target Expanded Bottom here, treadmill has not been used yet

*snort* Yes, must ease into it, like the cats Nikki described...................

Julie - - I just LOVED your ladybug analogy of - yesterday? Mentioned it to Kissey last night - - we had the most wonderful, long chat - - he could NOT have been more dear as I was gently crying over the paltry state of my life - and he agreed, I need a ladybug to come to me, I simply canNOT look for a job, pretty much ever again. It will have to come along, and Kissey has a lead about which I am most excited. :) Stay tuned.

Must take the Squeezee out for a walk.

I missed you yesterday, Susie--elated that you got out of the vortex :D

Yep--you and I will wait till the time is right. At least we have each other  Although, can not WAIT to hear what Kissy has in mind for you on that front.

Okay, here is the rest of the tale of the telecommunications mess in my life.

I went into the store Tuesday morning and temporarily rerouted the voice line to the data equipment so the orders for today's delivery could be polled. The data line was still dead. The last piece of the work was supposed to happen in the morning. Late in the afternoon, just before five, I called the store and had the employee on duty check the line. Dead. :(

I called Bell at the repair service number. Got a woman who either did not understand what I was saying, or did not know anything about how a telephone worked (like, a pair of wires from the central office, to the pole outside my store, then along a wire into my building, etc.). I had the reference number from the original trouble ticket, but she could not seem to access any information.

She tells me I need to have a technician come to my store and check the wiring there. If the problem is with my wiring, there will be a service charge. I try again to explain that I have already had a technician, and the problem is not on my premises. She does not get it.

So, I give in, and she opens a new trouble report, and schedules another on-site technician for this morning. He shows up at about 10:30. He gets in touch with someone who is actually in Canada and can tell what is going on. Turns out the frame work order to rewire the other end of my line cannot be found. This guy understands the problem, and wants to fix it quickly. He does not know the people in my switching center, since he does not usually work in this part of the city. But he manages to talk to several different people, and gets the tech on the other end of the wire to start working with the promise that a new work order is being written and will arrive. It took about 20 minutes for all that to transpire.

Everything is back to normal, at least for the moment. :)

The infrastructure is old in this part of town, so another problem is not without possibility. Sunday morning a short developed in my line somewhere between the pole outside my store, and the telephone switching office about 1.5 miles south of me.

Tomorrow, I'm taking the day off. Jacquie is working my usual Thursday shift. I get to stay home and look at taxes (the Canadian filing deadline is April 30). Oh, such fun! Not. :o

That's all for now, my sillies.

jerseyangel Proficient

OMGosh Peter--glad it finally all got worked out, for the moment anyway....

Try to take some time for yourself tomorrow amidst the tax calculating and get some rest :)

What a waste of your time, Peter...

Here is what you should have forcefully told these inept telephone people and technicians:

"Look...I'll have you know that I hold official Oracle status. I therefore do NOT suffer fools gladly..."

You mention the Oracle designation, and watch them snap to attention. ;)

Oy .. . .I feel for ya Jess

Eeeek - rant away m'dear

...not much advise on the phoody phront (I suspect Phatauoghmn can help here)

I don't do much of the pack'n'go.

More than a few times, I've resorted to bringing a spoon & a jar of almond butter.

Or a bag of nuts.

My cold-smoked sockeye (no sugar) might travel ok. Not sure how long it's ok w/out refrig - maybe pre-freeze?

Hummus maybe - but I usually use the brown rice tortillas.

(Ack! I don't know how to do food-on-the-go at ALL!)

Okay...Jack has another tough question for us all to debate.

Another choice to make:

You must choose either option, or you will be dead. <_<:lol:

OR

Two little feet dangling from your chin?

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
