Will we all be needing poodle haircuts?

  GAWD- I hope not- my head is gi-normous and would be very emBAREASSing  (Ever notice that  <----- looks like he's wearing a leather mask? Hmmm....)

How happy does this make me to see Sillyville spilling over into our new Queen's "real" life!!! :D So incredibly cool that you ran off to tell Jack--and that he was so excited for you!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!!

How exciting Amanda! You must see the dolphins somehow, somewhere.

OMGawd Sillies :o

We just had the worst downpour! It rained heavily for over an hour, there's a little water in the basement (because the back porch flooded) but it's not bad. Our road is completely flooded, cars are turning around and taking an alternate way.

It's unreal--I can't remember when I've seen this much rain in such a short amount of time. Mark is down at the street shoveling our landscaping stones out of the middle of the road.

Sump pump is working like a charm :D

Might hafta build an ark

Hey--wait a minute......

This could be a direct result of what took place here yesterday--Emily's crowning as the new Queen.

How come I got the fluid onslaught???????

Patti, we have that going on here too. This afternoon it was ridiculous....serious tornado warnings and watches everywhere. Round 2 of storms has rolled in. Yuck! Stay dry.

I know Laura--I saw that it was much worse south of us. We were lucky, we only got the heavy rain--no thunderstorms or tornado warnings.

You take care :)

Another OMG - - DH took DD to a local sports store for their twice-a-year inventory clearout sale to get some new goalie pads.. ... .They were 40% off. Are you ready for this?

$320.00.

Sven sounds like a big buff blond masseuse that the ladies of Sillyville would enjoy.

We haven't seen Sarah in a few days. Hope she & family are fine.

Just back from WhFds - successfully NOT buying that which I crave.

No mo' "testing" Crave Bakery brownies, Pamela's choc chip cookie bites, ginger snaps, potato chips, fantabulous smelling on-sale strawberries & cherries, lurrrrvely <hehe> peppered turkey breast, etc etc.

Funny yesterday, on the way to TJoe's, I'm actually chanting "no chocolate no chocolate". <didn't get any>

It's probably been months since I made it 3 wks w/out trying something questionable - tho at first I had some great day-afters, it's time I wised up again.

About a week & counting .. ...

Amanda - is that b!tch sleeping w/ a hospital board member?

Jess, love the av!!

Patti's taking the brunt of page 1000 phluidation due to extreme post count?

Laura, I saw some DC area footage of a HUGE tree that had fallen on someone's car - I think while they were driving. Stay safe!

Em - DD outgrow old pads or just wear 'em out w/ all those saves?? :D

Pseuzee's still glutened I suppose . ...hope it ends soon darlin'. :)

Laura, you suddenly have multiple 7's in your post count....perhaps this is significant, somehow - - tornado-generating....Ptaoughmhmn! Need a formula, here!... . ..

Alas, no equations bouncing around my head on a slow brain day.

Hey Em, do you stop paying attn to the Stanley Cup once the Sens are out or once it became all USA?

Don't both teams have more Canadians than Americans on 'em? (No idea . ..shows how much I follow hockey)

Yes, been quite pure myself here in the last few days. Kind of better (certainly intestinally better), but quite anxious. Inordinately anxious. FINALLY got the wellbutrin, started it yesterday......could be trouble :( and I don't know what to do any more.

But going to change my signature - - certainly there's no mania, but there sure as hell is depression, at times., and huge anxiety. :(

Yes, there likely are more Canucks than Yanks on the ice tonight in Pittsburgh.... ..Actually, Detroit has NINE Swedes on their roster, and if they win tonight it will the first time in NHL history that a team with a European captain has won the Cup... . .

I'm rootin' fer Pittsburgh, methinks......and they just scored! 2-1....we got game!

I cannot believe what those kiddy goalie pads cost... ....HAAAAAAYYYUSSSSSS.....To what other use can we put them in the off-season, to get our money's worth?

Protective apparel for when I rollover to 3000..... .

Padding for poodle onslaught, when I come in the front door and get the rush from TWO big leaping goofballs, tongues, claws and teeth flying.....:lol:

Could they be used to help one carry out an effective toilet hover? Hmmm....don't think so...may seem kind of funny, anyway, walking casually into a public restroom with two enormous hockey pads slung over one's shoulder... . ..

Aw, sorry about all this crap, Susie...... :(

You may respond well to the new antidepressant - - let's hope it's a quick, positive reaction! I know several people who have had GREAT success with Wellbutrin, my sister among them.... :)

Green12 Enthusiast

Glad you are ok Laura, and Patti geesh that sounds like one heck of a storm you had.

Hmmm, the timing of the fluids is quite suspicious with all in Sillyville  We also had a foggy and muggy day, rain, hail, and tornadoes all over the state and we are expecting lotsa rain tomorrow.

Bev I might be constructing an ark meself

Amanda, that woman is heinous!

I was just going to ask about Sarah, another wandering silly of the bunch

Susie, glad you are better in the intestinal department, I am thinking good thoughts that your mood and brain will follow tout de suite!!

Tom, great self control you have!! Way to tighten up

Nikki!!! So sorry about your blisters, yer poor feet!

I'm here!!! Last day of school, today. The principal is taking us all out to eat for lunch......been researching whether I can eat or not. Then the computer had a brain fart. Just poopin' in before going to work......Talk at ya later!!! :D

BTW....excessive onslaught of environmental fluids here in INdy, also.......sitting tight here in tornado alley

Sarah, where are you?

Morning, Sillies!

Awoke early and looked out our window.....there was Mr. Chow in his Greet the Sun pose. He will suddenly throw his arms akimbo, then swoop down and stand on his head, his legs perfectly straight above him.

I think I shall ask him if he could use Sophie's goalie pads through the off-season as protective padding. An interesting neighboUrly thing to do - - you aren't likely to have too many neighboUrs knock on your door and inquire if you've got an enormous pair of pads they could nick for their intense outdoor martial arts sessions... ..:lol:

Sarah!! Where art thou?

I hear you both :( I tend to do the very same thing--feel good for a while and then try something new without checking....all the while hoping in the back of my mind that I've healed enough that a trace won't make a difference.

Actually, just to not have to think about everything is a refreshing change, and makes me feel somehow more normal.

I'm in the same boat--still am not normal since the date/creamer incidents a couple weeks ago. Susie, my anxiety always takes a lot longer than the intestinal stuff.....hopefully the Welbutrin will give your anxiety a gentle shove and get you back on an even keel.

Phataughm, glad to hear you're getting back on track and being uber careful again--we live and learn....

Thinking 'bout you both :)

You bet, and I can tell you how I've been Phluidally Aphected: With two dogs now that play constantly, shoving each each other around and play-biting, they become COVERED in saliva and slobber - - let's call the stuff slobbva.... . I'm assuming that once the rollover phluid deluge eases up, the dogs will learn to play with mouths closed.....bah!... .. ..

Phataughm, glad to hear you're getting back on track and being uber careful again--we live and learn....

Thinking 'bout you both

Me, too, guys... .. . :)

I don't seem to feel the atrocious effects of accidental glutenings like others - - just bloating and slight cramping - - but sudden, arbitrary high blood sugars that happen more frequently as I get older are BRUTAL on my psyche and my head (heavy aching). I'm SO lucky to just have this, though.. ... and I want EVERYBODY to be this lucky!!

Hmmm.....can I do anything about this as current Queen? Is there a veto, or an edict?.. ..

happygirl Collaborator

Just for the record, that topic is infinitely more interesting than the thesis I actually wrote. Where were you all when I had to write the darned thing?!!!!

It seems like you have two choices--do a proper gluten challenge and get re-tested, or just go gluten-free because you already know that it is gluten that is causing your symptoms. In order to screen someone for celiac disease they need to be eating gluten daily, a lot of it--they usually recommend at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily for 6-8 weeks before a blood screening, and at least 2 weeks before an endoscopy (a colonoscopy is no used to diagnose celiac disease). Normally the blood panel is your first step, and if you have ANY positive results there for celiac disease the next step would be to take biopsies of your villi via an endoscopy given by a gastroenterologist.  More info on the blood tests and the gluten challenge beforehand is below: The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:   Not to discourage you from a formal diagnosis, but once you are diagnosed it may lead to higher life and medical insurance rates (things will be changing quickly in the USA with the ACA starting in 2026), as well as the need to disclose it on job applications. While I do think it's best to know for sure--especially because all of your first degree relatives should also get screened for it--I also want to disclose some negative possibilities around a formal diagnosis that you may want to also consider.

Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Ben98! If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.
