I love YOUR av, Susie! You guys are really....um...sucking face...(!) At least, David appears as such......:lol:

 not really sucking phace......David likes to "pose us" and then hold the camera out........note that his gnose is quite smashed.

speaking of avs - Em - yer dad, quite often, looks GREEN in photos.:unsure:

Okay, folks, I have exposed myself. I mean, the cloaking device is off and I am not anonymous. What did you think I meant?

  Nutty!

Will read your "common sense" post later.......no time at present.......but excited about your prospective summer employee............this means Psilly Psummit for you, no doubt! :)

And what is Annie doing whilst this is happening? Is she laying down with her head on a swivel watching you go to and fro, or is she passed out somewhere else in the house??

annie/Weezee is never far.........she is NEVER in a room where we aren't. If I go in another room for more than.............five minutes? she moves into that room. she is never far behind. :) Poor Weez, hardly any rest. Unless we've run in the orchard on a hot day, and then, blessedly, she is a pass out victim.

Tho passionate, I'm sure, a forceful nose-smushing kiss wouldn't be rated beyond PG-13 by even Dana Carvey's ChurchLady.

gahhhhhhhhh   Correct, 'twas not a full makeout session........those are not photographed. ;)

Um, NO, I'm going for a Drs appointment. I figured I'd take advantage of being there and see or do something.

Damn Emoticon Bustage!!!!

SARAH!!!!!

FANTASTIC news on your Mum!! :D .....well  NOT that she's got another AI disease but yer know what I mean ;)

Okay.......about this UK peanut butter issue.......I think when the weather cools I'm goign to have to send Nik a jar of Skippy Naturals pb (is that illegal? )..........'tis heaven in a jar......and THEN she can see what it's truly like, maybe she can become a wealthy peanut butter magnate (or typhoon/taifun?, as Rinne likes to say ), importing it into England by the buttload.

Indeed, playphul Szeucszie...this matter needs MUCH investigation!!!!!

Are you allowed to send food items??? (your laws are MUCH stricter than ours)...but how can I compare :confuzzled:

To describe my PB....T'is thick AND stiff  in texture, quite sticky but not easily stirred or spreadable.

A very nutty aroma engulfs the senses upon opening with a little zing of butter...maybe creamy??

Of course it IS crunchy PB (got no time for smooth PB .......why??:blink: )

Ingredients are:

Roasted peanuts

Vegetable Oil

Cane Sugar

Hydrogenated Veg Oil (oooo NOT a good ingredient)

Sea Salt

Total Peanut Ingredients 93%

Must be them subpar europeanuts :P

Now Phataughmn!!...I canNOT have you slander the Brit (perleeze, I am NOT EUROPEAN!!!) peanut 'til we know the source

Got me little pholks (under the stairs) onto it TOOT SWEET!!

JULIE!!! Hope you enjoy Phoenix (and the heat) when on your Docs appt :D

Y'all know I'd like me some of that dry heat

BUT

Plus, we'd have to be seen in a bathing suit, for gawd's sake :o

There's the rub :(

ILLEGAL for me as I have knees....HECK....legs like a Sharpei dog!!! (not so furry though)

Meanwhile....

Today is my eldest son's b-day.....GADS.....19 yrs old today!!! :o

His workmates co-workers are taking him to the pub after work :o ...but he's my sensible child ;)

He was quite disgruntled when he learnt he had to buy cream cakes for all in his office

''But why Mum??? ....it's my birthday??''

Good point I suppose but at least he ain't a coeliac and can eat 'em ;)

Kitty Will to my horror is a dirty stop out and *I* have turned into a fussing, slightly demented cat lady calling for him at 3.00am 'cos I was worried about him

He strolled in about 10.00am, when asked 'where had he been?' he tried to get round me with the figure of eight around the legs...then total indifference, when I reminded him he was not even a yr old I got ''Yeah, whatever...;.I'm sleeping now''

Morning sillies!

Em loving that av!!!!! I can't believe we are getting that close.

FL in 1 week!!!!!! I am no where near ready to go but who cares I am going!!!!!!!!!!!

Peter! Awesome that you might be joining up, I will keep the phingers crossed!

Big news on the job front, I have a special project!!! A lot of our studies come without supplies such as lab tubes and such and if they are strange tests sometimes our hospital does not even carry the certain tubes we need. So yesterday my supervisor asked me to come up with a spreadsheet, pretend we had our own lab to stock and sift through certain protocols and see what we need. From there I will make a list of what we need. She said include Freezers and such! Eventually we will have our own lab and we will need a lab person, she told me to think about that. Even if I do not want that job she would like me to help write the job description. So exciting things happening all over!

And it's FRIDAY!!!

A busy weekend ahead too.

Morning, all!

PeOter, great citing. We have a very brilliant, no-nonsense, seventy-year old radio announcer on our local talk radio station, Lowell Green, who is the king of Conservative pragmatism. He long ago declared this passage as his credo, and reads it on air every once in a while. Very thought-provoking.......

speaking of avs - Em - yer dad, quite often, looks GREEN in photos.:unsure:

Speaking of radio announcers. ... .Susie you're right. A subtle, veridian hue. Perhaps he is like this in real life. If so, he will have an explanation. I know he donned a great deal of green makeup in his TV days. ... ...could have been plant-based dyes that simply never quite wash out.

annie/Weezee is never far.........she is NEVER in a room where we aren't. If I go in another room for more than.............five minutes? she moves into that room. she is never far behind. :) Poor Weez, hardly any rest.

It's quite phunee over here, now, much like it must have been with you when Stinker was alive, Susie - - I now have TWO big dogs following me everywhere I go in the house. They crowd into the bathroom, and while I am sitting there they arrange themselves as best they can in seated positions also, staring at me. I agree, though....it is good exercise for them, keeps them occupied. "Whoop! There she goes again! C'mon! Let's follow her! Where on earth is she going?"

To describe my PB....T'is thick AND stiff  in texture, quite sticky but not easily stirred or spreadable.

A very nutty aroma engulfs the senses upon opening with a little zing of butter...maybe creamy??

Hmmmmm......Nikki, if I evah come to London again, I want yer address as I will need to show up for my PB fix, and it sounds like I'd have NO trouble eating your stuff. The concoctions we found in the stores were just bad.... . .

ILLEGAL for me as I have knees....HECK....legs like a Sharpei dog!!! (not so furry though)

OMG....:lol: The dreaded Shar-pei Legs.....

Happy birthday to yer son, Nik! Nineteen.....a right adult, he is! What is the legal drinking age over there? Um...I forget, we are talking about England.......IS there, in fact, a drinking age?? ;):P:lol:

The 'ol figure eight! Allo does this, and one of these days he's gonna make me trip over him and I hope it's not near the top of a stairway or sumphin :o It's especially annoying when I'm about to feed him--you'd think he's get out of the way and let me fix it--but no.....

Amanda said "phingers" :D

Gawd, I wish I knew what was up with me stomach.....I cancelled my Chiropractic appointment this morning because I didn't like the thought of being manipulated whilst feeling like this  It's been going on fer about 3 weeks now--it seemed to have started with the date incident and I haven't been the same since. Just wait until we unlock the psecrets of the silly thread. See their insights and their wackl, special wisdom, and the story of their unique, cult-like bond, tomorrow!"

I don't know why but that just made me laugh SOOOO hard!!!   That's exactly what the promo would sound like I think.

I saw this on another board that I still read, but haven't posted to in years, in the middle of a flame war about legal liability. It struck a chord with me, and I think it will with you. Two posts later a moderator locked the thread. I'm glad it lasted long enough for this to get posted. If you want the link, send me a PM--I don't think it would be a good fit here.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

That totally makes me think of something I just read in the new the other day -- Open Original Shared Link. Apparently a 18 year old woman was in Hawaii with her cheerleading team when she went off to the room of some guys and got so drunk that she fell of the balcony in various stages of undress and unfortunately died. A horrible thing, yes; I can only imagine the loss and devastation her family must feel. But her parents successfully sued the chaperone, a mother of one of the other cheerleaders, for 700k!!! I find that utterly disgusting! When an adult decides to get crazily drunk, I don't see how anyone else is to blame for the misfortune she befalls.

Maybe I'm being insensitive and I know I can't comprehend what it would feel like to lose a child but this whole suing thing makes me feel quite ill. Many a times my parents accompanied me to overnight athletic events and field trips and it scares me to think they could have got the pants sued off of them had one of my teammates/classmates decided to show a scary lack of judgment. Anyway, that's my rant for the day. I'll step down from my soapbox now. :unsure:Sorry for the ranting

The Ripper's last day of school yesterday, and this afternoon is his big end-of-year show. He's excited this year, as he has a major part to play, unlike last year when he played some seaweed and he just had to make sure he constantly wiggled.:rolleyes:

This year he is a librarian, and ends up narrating the whole story. It begins with him in a chair, a bunch of the kindergarteners sitting in front of him... .. .he is about to read them all a book. As soon as he begins, a magical thing happens - - the books come to life! The kids find themselves in the stories.

Fairly easy costume for Jack this year....librarians look kind of nerdy, apparently, so he wants to wet his hair and part it WAY over to one side, and he'll wear his glasses. My obsession with DD's perfectly useable but untouched hockey pads continues, so I found myself asking Jack to think of a way to incorporate them into his costume. "Some librarians may wear these things, Jack ....ya know....protection from.....little kids.....and.....flying things"...... . .. .

I have NOT convinced him as yet. <_<

Me either ... no one can believe I don't like tomatoes because I really like just about everything.

When I came of age (came of age--sounds a little creepy for some reason  ), the drinking age was 18. Not long after that, they changed it to 21.....m-m-m

Me, too. In Ohio we could get 3.2 beer (lower alcohol content) at 18, but then my family moved to Texas where the drinking age was 19, and so was I by then. However, where I went to college, it was 21, so I couldn't drink (in a restaurant or bar, LOL), but I could drink when I was in Texas.

Now I can't drink. :( But I'm getting used to it and actually enjoy not feeling bad after a night out. :)

Patti, well my appt hasn't been scheduled yet. Still waiting to hear, but it will probably be sometime in July.

I've been to Scottsdale a few times, but it was when I was in highschool and always about baseball, baseball, and more baseball. Didn't get a chance to do much else or really experience the area. So thought I would kill two birds with one stone, see the Dr and take in Phoenix :D

Hi Sillies . . . and a big Hello to Carla. You need to stop in more often. I've been Sarahing lately. Nothing too funny bouncing around me head. Big zoning board meeting on Monday and it's all hands on deck. Lots of prep, pictures, presentations, proofreading and such . . . and not even by me, but me hubby (and a few others). I'm just following along and throwing in my 2 cents worth from time to time. Just nothin' funny about zoning boards!!! However, this came in from my BIL. I'll just transfer some of his silly in my place.

Sensible Observations:

1) When I die, I want to die like my grandfather--who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Blood tests for thiamine are unreliable.  The nutrients from your food get absorbed into the bloodstream and travel around the body.  So, a steak dinner can falsely raise thiamine blood levels in the following days.  Besides, thiamine is utilized inside cells where stores of thiamine are impossible to measure. A better test to ask for is the Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test.  But even that test has been questioned as to accuracy.  It is expensive and takes time to do.   Because of the discrepancies with thiamine tests and urgency with correcting thiamine deficiency, the World Health Organization recommends giving thiamine for several weeks and looking for health improvement.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Many doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition and deficiency symptoms, and may not be familiar with how often they occur in Celiac disease.  B12 and Vitamin D can be stored for as long as a year in the liver, so not having deficiencies in these two vitamins is not a good indicator of the status of the other seven water soluble B vitamins.  It is possible to have deficiency symptoms BEFORE there's changes in the blood levels.   Ask your doctor about Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that is better absorbed than Thiamine Mononitrate.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many vitamins because it is shelf-stable, a form of thiamine that won't break down sitting around on a store shelf.  This form is difficult for the body to turn into a usable form.  Only thirty percent is absorbed in the intestine, and less is actually used.   Thiamine interacts with all of the other B vitamins, so they should all be supplemented together.  Magnesium is needed to make life sustaining enzymes with thiamine, so a magnesium supplement should be added if magnesium levels are low.   Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  There's no harm in trying.
    • lizzie42
Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?

Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?

Thank you! That's helpful. My kids eat very little processed food. Tons of fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and occasional red meat. We do a lot of rice and bean bowls, stir fry, etc.  Do you think with all the fruits and vegetables they need a vitamin supplement? I feel like their diet is pretty healthy and balanced with very limited processed food. The only processed food they eat regularly is a bowl of Cheerios here and there.  Could shaking legs be a symptom of just a one-time gluten exposure? I guess there's no way to know for sure if they're getting absolutely zero exposure because they do go to school a couple times a week. We do homeschool but my son does a shared school 2x a week and my daughter does a morning Pre-K 3 x a week.  At home our entire house is strictly gluten free and it is extremely rare for us to eat out. If we eat at someone else's house I usually just bring their food. When we have play dates we bring all the snacks, etc. I try to be really careful since they're still growing. They also, of course, catch kids viruses all the time so I  want to make sure I know whether they're just sick or they've had gluten. It can be pretty confusing when they're pretty young to even be explaining their symptoms!

That is interesting, and it's the first time I heard about the umbilical cord beings used for that test. Thanks for sharing!
